    78. the anxiety of a stepmom & the belly button piercing

    Send us a text Hey Mother Toughers, I have been in a horrible cycle of anxiety lately and I am learning a lot from processing through these emotions.  Being a parent, in any capacity, is filled with anxiety, stress, and worry which can make things hard.  This stress and anxiety can put a lot of strain on our relationships or just trickle straight down to our kids.  I am practicing this new technique of brain dumping my anxiety down on paper to more tactfully process and work through these emotions.  I went into this episode completely vulnerable because without vulnerability there is not raw truth in the process.     77. suffragettes are probably rolling in their graves

    Send us a text Hey Mother Toughers... we are diving back into the radical feminists (I know BIG UGH!) because they are anti feminism at its core.  We are getting political with the democrats of Congress all voting no on protecting our girls and women in sports.  I was truly shocked to see this take place and I am here to piss some people off over my opinion of what REAL feminism is.  There was also a little update in the Lively vs Baldoni saga and I think I might have begun perimenopause!  Woo, let's get to the tough stuff!     76. recovering from surgery & kids' negativity wins

    Send us a text Hey Mother Toughers!!!  Happy Monday, I am back from surgery and super nasally but we are still tackling parenting like the amazing hot mess we are!  This time of recovering has got me reflecting a lot on how I am handling parenting while I hand the parenting reigns over to others during recovering.  Recovering also has me online shopping in the TikTok shop and stumbling across the worst-mother-of-the-century's, a.k.a. This week we are talking about lying... why our kids do it, that we are all guilty, and fraud.  A fraud case that caught my eye recently was that of Amanda Riley, who faked cancer to gain friends, community celebrity, and who knows what else was her motivation behind this lie that extended years while impacting so many.  All my information is from the docu series on HULU, Scamanda, which is based on the podcast Scamanda.   We have a BONUS episode, Tough Tidbits #5, coming out this Thursday that will dive a little more into the subject of pathological liars and how to spot them.     74. reading books & the fall of diddy

    Send us a text Hey Mother Toughers... just a heads up, this week we are discussing the docu series The Fall of Diddy so a lot of TRIGGERS around abuse will be mentioned.  I also dive into why I am scared of my upcoming surgery due to the traumatic birth of baby girl.  On a lighter note, I read a new genre of book and even typing this has got me blushing... reality TV is doing the most right now and I am taking no disrespect from anyone! The Fall of Diddy is on MAX, it was released in late January 2025, and is probably the most informative documentary of the ones I have watched about Sean Combs, a.k.a. Diddy.  The stories these people had to tell was not only eye opening but gut wrenching.  If you can stomach it, I highly recommend to time to watch it to understand those who were victimized but also the history and making of a monster.     73. when it's time to disengage as a bonus mom

    Send us a text Hey Mother Toughers!!!  February goals are underway and so are adjustments to creating the peace.  As a bonus mom, we sometimes hit a place in our journeys where we have to make choices that are painful and also have to make constant adjustment to our parenting, just like any other parent.  In general, parenting comes with continuous changes not only in our children but how we handle situations.  Then as our kids get older we prepare for them to either jump out of the nest themselves or we give them a swift out of the nest; no matter how our kids leave, it is difficult.  Then there are times in a bonus parent's journey that they have to choose to take back their peace and disengage from a bonus child, this can look different for each person.  Jamie Simkins, LCPC (on TikTok) gives us 5 signs it's time to disengage with your stepchild: 1. Feeling frustrated all the time. 2.  Trying harder than their dad (or your bio parent partner). 3.  Feeling chronically unappreciated or wanted. 4.  Losing focus on your why. 5.  Self worth struggles. If you choose to disengage, remember that this decision does not make you a bad parent, this is setting healthy boundaries.  You cannot be a good support to the total household if one aspect of that household is taking away your peace.     72. finding peace & the making of a bad boy

    Send us a text Hey Mother Toughers!!! Last week's mental heaviness has me seeking out some peace in my life and with inner peace comes happier people around us.  I do not know about you but the winter months can be so difficult, not only do we hit the winter blues but holidays add a particular weight to our already heaviness.  I found  this great website with an article about inner peace and I hope that you are ready to make some goals to bring just that to yourself.  https://declutterthemind.com/blog/inner-peace And, why not close an episode, about inner peace, out with a little Diddy info drop?!  I watched the documentary Diddy: The Making Of A Bad Boy on Peacock, this week, and it gives a great snapshot of how he got to where he is; I have got some of my own thoughts on this one as well.
