The Voice of Mill Park: Elections, Events, and More

In this episode of the Mill Park Podcast, I discuss some important updates and events happening in our community. Firstly, there's a change in the podcast schedule, with new episodes now releasing on Friday mornings to better align with weekend events. This episode covers the upcoming council meeting on May 20th, which can be attended in person or viewed online. Additionally, I delve into the recent VCAT decision voiding the Lalor Ward election results, prompting a new election process. I also touch on the need for more community involvement with Whittlesea Council, particularly regarding local amenities like rubbish bins in public parks. We also explore various community events, including a free online parenting program, seniors' golf sessions, and Zumba classes at the Mill Park Leisure Centre. The return of the food bank to Thomastown highlights ongoing community needs, while the Yarra Plenty Regional Library offers a range of activities from storytime to knitting. As the weather cools, I suggest checking out local pizza deals for a cosy night in. A short introduction episode where I introduce myself, what the podcast is about, why I created it, and what future episodes will contain. Welcome to the inaugural episode of the Mill Park Podcast! I'm Cameron, a resident of Mill Park for nearly five years, and I'm thrilled to launch this podcast as a central hub for all things happening in our vibrant community. Tired of scouring multiple websites and social media pages to stay updated, I decided to create a one-stop source for news, events, and activities in Mill Park and its surrounding areas, including Bundoora and South Morang. In this episode, I introduce the podcast's mission: to keep you informed about local happenings, from community events and school activities to updates from local businesses and sports clubs. Whether it's the latest at the Stables Shopping Centre or events at the River Glen Shops, this podcast aims to cover it all. I'll be sharing insights on everything from church gatherings to footy matches, ensuring you never miss out on what's important in our community. This podcast will be released weekly, every Sunday evening, so you can catch up on the latest news at your convenience. If you have any events or news you'd like to share, feel free to email me at notes@millpark.blog by Sunday morning for inclusion in the week's episode. The Mill Park Podcast is a free resource for everyone in the area, operating on a value-for-value model inspired by the No Agenda podcast.
