    Beyond Survival: Reclaiming Your Health After Cancer

    Brian Gutierrez is a colorectal cancer survivor, disability resource professional, and a national disability rights advocate. As an early-onset colorectal cancer survivor and someone living with Spina Bifida, Brian understands the challenges of living with a disability while facing a life-changing cancer diagnosis. His lived experiences strengthened his commitment to advocating for accessible, equitable, and person-centered healthcare, where every patient is heard, respected, and empowered. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services and a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles. He also earned a graduate certificate as a Disability Resource Specialist from Northern Arizona University and recently completed a second master's degree in Disability Services in Higher Education from the City University of New York, School of Professional Studies. Brian serves on several national and state disability committees. He is a member of the Community Advisory Board for the Center for Disability Justice at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he helps advance disability rights and health equity initiatives in Baltimore. He also serves on the Adults Healthcare Advisory Council and the California Chapter Council of the Spina Bifida Association, collaborating with self-advocates, families, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to improve the lives of people living with Spina Bifida. Brian is also a Patient Champion for F-U Cancer, where he shares his lived experiences as a cancer survivor while connecting others to F-U Cancer to help others be informed, supported, and empowered throughout their cancer journeys, including survivorship.     PinkAware: Empowering the Next Generation to Turn Awareness Into Action

    Aadhya Mamillapalli is a 16-year-old high school student from San Jose, California. She is the CEO and founder of PinkAware, a nonprofit dedicated to educating youth about breast cancer, giving back to patients, and building a community of young women leaders. Under her leadership, PinkAware has grown to 50+ members and 16+ partner organizations, including Bay Area Cancer Connections, HERs Breast Cancer Foundation, Girl Up, El Camino Health, and Kendra Scott. PinkAware has also been featured on AM1310, a South Asian radio station, for its work. PinkAware's programs include the first-ever high school mapathon on Stanford's campus, which mapped 1,544 houses and hospitals for breast cancer relief; 10+ chapters that have made 600+ cards for patients; a Women of Influence Panel; and PinkPackages, a new initiative building care packages for patients with partners including Cornell, Columbia, and NYU Langone.Aadhya's work has also been recognized by the YOUth Can Change the World Conference, where she was selected as a top 10 applicant and awarded free housing in New York City, and by the Lead Beyond Symposium, where she was the only youth panelist speaking in front of educators and community partners about how to expand service involvement for youth. Looking ahead, Aadhya hopes to continue empowering the next generation of young women through PinkAware, while pursuing her interests in business and engineering and ultimately becoming a founder who creates meaningful change.     Leveraging Emotional Intelligence from the Patient and Clinician's Lens During a Cancer Journey

    Adam Matichak, PT, DPT is an acute care physical therapist and board certified clinical specialist in oncologic physical therapy at Stanford Health Care working with hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplantation populations. He regularly presents on oncology rehabilitation, immunotherapy, and communication skills in complex medical settings. Dr. Matichak has presented nationally at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting and the The Cancer Rehabilitation Community Conference. His work focuses on advancing patient-centered oncology rehabilitation through education, research, and mentorship.     The Missing Piece in Cancer Care: Pelvic Floor PT & Radiation Recovery

    Dr. Cody McNeely earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and has been specializing in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy for the last 14 years. Dr. McNeely has obtained Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and specializes in treating men and women for issues related to the bladder, bowels and pain in the pelvic area. She is passionate about empowering patients through education and giving them the tools they need to help alleviate symptoms. Her aim is to create an environment in which patients feel comfortable discussing diagnoses that are sensitive in nature and is committed to providing patients with the best care possible in order to achieve their goals.  Dr. McNeely is also dedicated to educating and mentoring the next generation of Pelvic Health Physical Therapists. She is adjunct faculty at the University of Kentucky PT where she works to increase the understanding of Pelvic Health therapy for all physical therapists. She also serves as a mentor for many therapists new to the Pelvic Health PT world. She also serves as State Representative of Kentucky for the American Physical Therapy Association – Pelvic Health section. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, reading and traveling.     Fighting Cancer: a Perspective From Both the Bed and the Bedside

    David Dauman is one of F-U Cancer's patient and caregiver champions. Since 2012, he has been battling multiple myeloma while also serving as a devoted caregiver to his elderly mother through her recovery from two separate cancers. David is co-chair of Moffitt Cancer Center's Patient and Family Advisory Council and a legislative advocate for the National Marrow Donor Program. Professionally, David is the CEO of Solutions House, a Tampa, Florida-based learning and performance consulting firm. He lives in Palm Harbor with his wife Rona, children Jacob and Lauren, and their golden retriever Sadie. Outside of work, David enjoys long-distance cycling, cooking, reading, and cheering on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

    Fertility Preservation After a Cancer Diagnosis

    Carrie Christensen is a BYU business graduate with a background in entrepreneurship and product management. She has started her own floral business, worked on innovation teams, and now serves on the Patient and Family Advisory Council for Intermountain Health Oncology. After being diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma, Carrie felt firsthand the gap in resources for young women facing both cancer and fertility decisions, an experience that inspired her to launch Future Blooms: a nonprofit that supports fertility preservation for young women undergoing cancer treatment.     Navigating Life Outside Hospital Walls After a Cancer Diagnosis

    Jonathan Panarello is an Adult Gerontology Primary Care certified Nurse Practitioner working in the department of Hematologic Malignancies at UCLA Santa Monica. He is originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and received his initial nursing diploma from John Abbott College in Montreal. Jonathan completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia Canada and a Master of Nursing Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He worked in the Coronary Care Unit at the McGill University Health Center in Montreal for six years before moving to Florida in 2017 where he started as a Nurse Practitioner at Moffitt Cancer Center in the Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular therapy department and in Hematology Oncology. Jonathan moved to Santa Monica and began at UCLA in November 2020. Jonathan is very passionate about his career and cares deeply for his patients.     Dr. Kelsey Lau is a former competitive soccer player with over four years of Phase I-III clinical research experience, including two years at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research center. She's a board certified Physical Medicine & Rehab Physician, completed an oncology rehab fellowship at University of Michigan and now serves in multiple roles; most important to our F-U Cancer family as our Chief Medical Officer.
