Even just some milliseconds of delay can make it feel like you’re hearing an echo of yourself, throwing off your timing and performance. I explain why latency occurs in your recording chain, how it differs between direct monitoring, DSP-based monitoring using an interface and DAW monitoring modes. I also share practical tips: check your routing, bypass unnecessary plugins when tracking, and experiment with direct analog monitoring if you’re just starting out. By the end of this episode, you’ll understand how to choose the monitoring setup that best fits your home studio—whether you’re using a simple audio interface or a DSP-capable system—and enjoy tighter, more in-time recordings.
