Welcome to the Right on Time podcast, where we chat all things pre-term labour, NICU journey (the highs, the lows and everything in between) and navigating this beautiful yet challenging life as first time mums. We wanted to start this podcast because when we were in the trenches of NICU life, we searched for something similar but were faced with clinical, factual and ultimately heavy stories. When all wished for was hope and to know we weren’t alone. So we’ve decided to create a safe space to laugh, cry, rant and ultimately generate some hope for anyone going through a similar journey to us.

    S2 Finale: "Why is everything such a battle right now?....I'm on edge all day every day and its testing my resilience"

    We’ve made it to the end of Season 2, and in this episode we’re reflecting on some of the realities of life with toddlers and motherhood behind the scenes. First up, we’re talking about that in-between stage — the 18 months to terrible twos era. The big feelings, the independence, the chaos… and how this phase can feel like a whole new level of parenting. We also chat about how our relationships with our husbands have evolved since having the boys. From the early days of parenthood to where we are now, we reflect on how things have shifted, what’s changed, and how becoming parents has reshaped our partnerships. And finally, Meghan opens up about a particularly challenging few weeks, as Blake’s health condition has taken a step change, making it one of the most difficult periods she’s experienced so far as a mum. As always, it’s an open and honest conversation about the highs, the hard moments, and everything in between.     S2 Ep.7: 'How do you eat your creme egg?'

    This week we’re firmly in our real life mum era — and covering everything from nursery germs to nostalgic TV binges (with a very serious chocolate debate thrown in). We kick off with the inevitable nursery bugs doing the rounds and the survival mode that comes with them — because why do they always hit the parents harder? Then we move into a more reflective chat about Gisèle Pelicot and the wider conversations her story has sparked around justice, strength and the power of women being believed and supported. On a lighter (but still exciting) note, we celebrate Sara officially launching her start-up — the nerves, the buzz, and what it really looks like to build something from the ground up while navigating motherhood. We also tackle the hotly debatable topic no one asked for but everyone has an opinion on: Mini Eggs vs Creme Eggs. Where do you stand? And more importantly… how do you eat your Creme Egg — bite straight in, split it in half, or eat the fondant first? This may divide the listeners. Finally, we round things off with our current mum TV guilty pleasures: rewatching America’s Next Top Model on Netflix, getting fully pulled into Tell Me Lies, and the shows we’re leaning on when we just need to switch our brains off at the end of the day. A mix of heavy, hopeful, nostalgic and hilariously relatable — just like mum life.

    S2 Ep.4: ‘The Doula Experience’ with Jenny Smith-Nicol

    Sara and Meghan are joined by special guest Jenny Smith-Nicol. Jenny is a renowned and successful Doula, specialising in post-partum care. She is a huge advocate and campaigner for woman’s postpartum care. A real womans woman and has this beautiful innate ability to make woman feel seen, held and nurtured in all life’s circumstances, especially after giving birth.  In this episode Jenny shares her path to becoming a Doula (her driving force and where her passion comes from). While explaining what being a Doula involves and the importance of it. The girls also discuss the misconceptions of a Doula and clear up any myths. Jenny walks us through what ‘The Doula Experience’ can look like for mothers, partners and families. The importance of nurturing ourselves and discusses that her services aren't just limited to mothers who've just given birth. Meghan opens up about how Jenny provided a safe space when navigating her difficult pregnancy and motherhood journey. Doula support can be just as relevant and beneficial to anyone who's suffered loss, trauma, burnout or honouring some self-care that we all need sometimes.  It’s a powerful and thought provoking  conversation that you don’t want to miss!

    In this week's episode the girls are joined by special guest Sharon Muir. Sharon's son Matthew was born 14 weeks premature 22 years ago. She sits down with Sara and Meghan to bravely share her story; what it was like in the NICU, opening up about the impact it has had on her as a mother, the differences between having a premature baby then vs now and becoming a mum again to her son Rory. Its a raw, vulnerable and inspiring listen.

    In this week’s episode the girls discuss what kind of parents they aspire to be vs who they are in reality. Discussing how outside pressures and life’s daily stresses influence how you parent.  The girls delve into contentious topics of parenting and child dynamics such as; should you be your child’s best friend? How do you balance boundaries while still having a close relationship? Bringing up boys in the 21st century and Gen-Z generation and navigating the unknowns.

    Sara and Meghan are back together for Season 2. Recapping on their summers; Sara's never ending wedding weekends, family holidays, hen do's and girly trips away (without kids...pure bliss) and finding their 'pink' again. Both girls share an insight into how their little boys are doing, discuss hitting developmental milestones and the pressures we naturally put on ourselves as parents . Plus Meghan speaks candidly about Blake starting nursery and the mixed emotions she felt.
