Chris Lowe’s SEC Lists Needed A Rethink (I Fixed them)

Send us Fan Mail List season turns college football into a debate sport, so I grabbed two of the loudest SEC lists and put them under a microscope. We react to Chris Lowe’s On3 rankings for the top SEC quarterbacks and SEC head coaches, then rebuild both lists from the ground up using the stuff that actually predicts Saturdays: coordinator continuity, system fit, health, and the difference between real production and preseason hype. At quarterback,  I explain why Arch Manning deserves the top spot heading into the season, why John Mateer is set up for a major leap, and why last year’s playoff glow doesn’t automatically lock anyone into No. 1. We also get into the messy middle of the SEC QB conversation, including Marcel Reed’s upside, Gunnar Stockton’s steady profile, the case for Auburn’s Byron Brown as a proven dual-threat, and the concerns that follow Sam Levitt and Lenoris Sellers when injuries and accuracy show up in the details. Then I pivot to SEC head coach rankings and reshuffle the top tier with zero patience for “vibes only” placement. Kirby Smart stays at the top, but we argue Kalen DeBoer should be ranked higher than he is, question where Steve Sarkeesian belongs given Texas expectations, and talk through Lane Kiffin, Mike Elko, Brent Venables, and the debate around newer head coaches like Alex Golish and Pete Golding. I close by reacting to a viral WNBA take about Caitlin Clark and why hot-take culture keeps trying to push stars out right after they grow the game. Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves arguing rankings, and leave a review with your SEC top 3 QBs and your top 3 coaches.

LeBron Failed?, Lakers National Brand, NBA to Pretty, Appreciate LeBron

Send us Fan Mail One championship, years of hype, and somehow the loudest take is still “failure.” I break down why LeBron James’ Lakers tenure triggers such extreme reactions, and why the truth sits in a more uncomfortable place: LA isn’t Milwaukee and it isn’t Denver. When you sign with the Lakers, the expectation is simple and brutal, win the NBA Finals. That context changes how we talk about success, pressure, and what a “good run” is supposed to look like in a big market. I also call out how sports media narratives get twisted, especially the claim that the Lakers weren’t on national TV before LeBron. The Lakers are a national brand, and pretending otherwise is how lazy talking points turn into “facts,” dragging Kobe Bryant and entire eras into arguments that don’t need the extra noise. Then we get into the NBA product right now: flopping, “ethical basketball,” and why the regular season can feel nothing like playoff basketball. If the league wants a game that’s both pretty and competitive, it has to enforce rules consistently. I lay out a clear solution modeled after soccer’s yellow card and red card approach, with real penalties that actually change behavior. To close, I’m running with Gilbert Arenas’ point: stop using Michael Jordan comparisons as a way to cut LeBron down, and you can finally appreciate what 20-plus years of greatness really means. Subscribe, share the episode, and leave a review, then tell me where you rank LeBron all-time.
