In April 2024, 13-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez vanished from Lake Elsinore, California. Seventeen months later, her remains were found in the trunk of an impounded Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard—registered to rising R&B star David Burke, known as d4vd. Prosecutors allege he began sexually abusing Celeste at 13 and killed her to protect his career. After a preliminary hearing, a judge ordered Burke to stand trial; he has pleaded not guilty. The Cleveland Kidnappings: Three Women Hidden for 10 Years

Between 2002 and 2004, Ariel Castro abducted three young women — Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus — from neighborhoods near his home in Cleveland, Ohio, and held them captive for nearly a decade. On May 6, 2013, Amanda Berry escaped with her daughter, born in captivity, and called 911. Castro was arrested, sentenced to life plus 1,000 years, and died by suicide in his cell in September 2013. Big fan of Kaelyn’s other podcast so I was excited to check this out. I find costar podcasts to be so tricky, the chemistry has to be just right and unfortunately this one just didn’t capture me. True crime might just not be Morgan’s preferred subject? I haven’t listened to her other podcast but here I feel like she constantly presents her opinions as facts and comes across as insensitive. I also find the “clues” format a bit contrived and forced. So many true crime podcasts out there, this one just doesn’t stand up to others.
