THE MIDTERMS: OUR VOTE. OUR POWER. — Let’s Make It Count!

The 2026 midterm elections are coming, and this may be one of the most important conversations we have before Election Day. In this episode of Let’s Talk with Carl E. Long, I’m speaking directly to African Americans—and ultimately to every voter who is frustrated, exhausted, confused, disappointed, or wondering whether their vote still matters. This isn't about blindly following a political party. And it isn't about somebody else telling you how to think. It's about becoming an INFORMED VOTER. We’re talking about why midterm elections matter, what’s actually at stake, and why sitting out an election because you're disappointed with politics doesn't stop somebody else from making the decision. We also tackle some difficult conversations: Are political labels doing our thinking for us?Progressive. Moderate. Conservative. Socialist. Liberal. What does the candidate actually stand for? Should you be a single-issue voter? One issue may be extremely important to you—but have you considered everything else that comes with the candidate? Are politicians selling solutions—or selling fear?I’ll give you my Five-Question Fear Test for examining political claims before allowing fear, anger, or social media to influence your vote. What if your candidate lost the primary? The general election still happens. Somebody will win. So how do you evaluate the choices that are actually left on the ballot? And we have an important conversation about political parties and accountability: No party should automatically expect it. No candidate automatically deserves it. Make them earn it. Research the candidates. Compare their policies. Examine their records. Consider their character and competence. Look beyond the labels. Verify what you're being told. Then make your own decision. And I'm issuing the Five-Voter Challenge: find five eligible voters in your family, workplace, church, neighborhood or circle of friends. Help them check their registration, understand what's on their ballot, and make a plan to vote. You don't have to tell them who to vote for. Help make sure their voice is heard. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Don't let disappointment become silence. Don't let fear make your decision. Don't let labels do your thinking. Get informed. Know your choices. Make your plan. And VOTE. Our Vote. Our Power. Our Future. — Carl E. LongLet’s Talk with Carl E. Episode 65: Analyzing Viewer Comments – Let's Break It Down

After my last several podcast episodes discussing race, history, and the Black American experience, the comment section exploded. Some comments were supportive, some respectful, and others challenged my perspective in ways that deserve a thoughtful response. In this episode, I'm taking a step back to unpack many of those viewer comments—not to shame anyone, but to better understand what we're saying to each other as Americans. We'll discuss topics like the "victim mentality" narrative, comparisons between Black and Irish history, personal responsibility, stereotypes about Black Americans, systemic racism, accusations of "playing the race card," and why simply talking about race can sometimes lead to accusations of racism. My goal isn't to divide people or win an argument. My goal is to encourage honest, respectful conversations rooted in history, empathy, accountability, and a genuine desire to understand one another. Whether you agree with me or completely disagree, I invite you to listen with an open mind and join the conversation with respect. Because understanding begins when we're willing to listen. Let's break it down... together. 🎙️ Let's Talk with Carl E. LongReal Conversations. Real Perspectives. Why isn't anyone talking about the 2024 election study?

Why isn't anyone talking about this election study? In this episode of Let's Talk with Carl E. Long, I explore a question that has been on my mind: Why has an independent report examining the 2024 presidential election received so little mainstream media attention? We'll take a look at the Election Truth Alliance's published analysis, discuss what the report actually claims, and, just as importantly, what it doesn't claim. I'll also share excerpts from an interview with one of the organization's representatives and examine the broader questions surrounding election integrity, media coverage, public trust, and transparency. This episode isn't about telling you what to believe. It's about encouraging critical thinking, asking thoughtful questions, and recognizing the difference between evidence that raises questions, proof of a claim, and the importance of independent verification. Whether you agree, disagree, or are still undecided, I invite you to join the conversation with an open mind and a commitment to following the facts wherever they lead. Let's have a respectful conversation. Why Does Justice Feel Different for Black America?

Episode 62: Why Does Justice Feel Different for Black America? Why do so many Black Americans view certain court cases, voting rights debates, and conversations about justice through a different lens? Why do so many people respond with, "Just move on," while others feel their concerns are being dismissed? In this episode of Let's Talk With Carl E. Long, I tackle these difficult questions head-on. Inspired by the reactions to my previous episode, I address the comments, the criticism, and the broader conversation surrounding justice, race, empathy, and America's ongoing struggle to understand one another. Using the recent Karmelo Anthony case as one example of why many people are asking difficult questions about fairness and trust in our justice system, I explore why these conversations continue to resonate so deeply within the Black community. This isn't about assigning guilt or creating division—it's about encouraging honest dialogue, listening with empathy, and challenging all of us to become better neighbors, better citizens, and better allies. Whether you agree with me or strongly disagree, my hope is that you'll stay for the entire conversation with an open mind. We don't have to think alike to treat each other with dignity and respect. If this episode challenges you, encourages you, or simply gives you something to think about, please like, subscribe, share it with someone else, and join the conversation respectfully in the comments.
