Gyno Girl: Protecting One Pelvis at a Time with Dr. Sameena Rahman

Dr. Sameena Rahman, aka Gyno Girl, joins Medical Morons for a full episode on women's health, sexual medicine, menopause care, and the business of medicine. Which means yes, I sat down with my father to discuss vulvas. Professionally. For an hour. (Spoiler - He thought the anatomical model on her shelf was a signed Chicago Bulls basketball. It was not.) Dr. Rahman is a board certified OB-GYN and sexual medicine specialist in Chicago and the founder of the GSM Collective. She went from academic medicine to hospital based work at Northwestern to private practice, and she recently converted to a concierge model. She sits on the board of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health and has a book coming out in September called Brown Girls’ Disease, a guide to sexual health and empowerment through a South Asian lens. In this episode we cover: * Why she chose gynecology and how she found her way into sexual medicine and menopause care* How a private practice actually gets built, including billing, overhead, and the brutal first year* What a concierge practice looks like and how the membership model is structured* Why so many women get gaslit about pelvic pain, painful sex, and vulvovaginal symptoms* Endometriosis, birth control masking symptoms, egg freezing, and what to ask in your late twenties and thirties* How Gyno Girl started (Shoutout to Scrubs)* My father asking what the Mona Lisa Touch is, against his own better judgment Find Dr. Rahman:Website: thegsmcollective.comInstagram @gynogirlPodcast: Gyno Girl Presents Sex, Drugs and Hormones Pre-order her book: https://www.amazon.com/Brown-Girls-Disease-Empowerment-Through-ebook/dp/B0GX3435CG/ref=sr_1_1?tag=scribemedia0a-20&crid=HQ3B795W4A43&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.PoRBxcZDo2h921VJcCGZ5tUSakRyS1N-7j4jX5UveUfGjHj071QN20LucGBJIEps.8h_ClRToXGGbwrAio3QRrFQPq_12r92XNz1TqT2PaGQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=sameena%20rahman&qid=1779449469&sprefix=sameena%20rahma,aps,611&sr=8-1&geniuslink=true Follow Medical Morons @MedicalMoronsPod on Instagram and TikTok!

Michael and Kylie sit down to talk about something that kept coming up in our community: dating and relationships in medicine are harder than people think. The Business of Beauty: Inside the Ultra-Luxe World of Manhattan Plastic Surgery with Dr. Savetsky

What does it actually take to build a thriving plastic surgery practice in one of the most competitive cities in the world — starting cold, during a pandemic, with no patients and no roadmap? In this episode, Kylie and Michael sit down with Dr. Ira Savetsky, a Manhattan-based plastic surgeon known for his natural aesthetic philosophy and his refreshingly honest approach to medicine and business. Dr. Savetsky pulls back the curtain on the real journey behind a successful aesthetic practice — from cold-calling his way into opportunities early in his career to navigating the tension between surgical artistry and the business decisions that keep a practice alive. They get into what separates reconstructive from aesthetic surgery (and why that distinction matters more than most people think), how he thinks about building genuine patient trust, and why social media has become one of the most powerful tools in a modern surgeon's arsenal — if you use it right. Plus, Dr. Savetsky shares his take on what's actually trending in aesthetics, what it was like to operate on family members, and a few unforgettable stories from his ER days. If you've ever been curious about the business side of high-end cosmetic surgery — or what it really looks like to build something from scratch in NYC medicine — this one is for you. If you enjoyed this episode, subscribe wherever you listen, leave us a review, and share it with someone in medicine who needs to hear the business side of this story.
