S2E8: Muppets, Xenomorphs, and Lieutenant Dan

Every once in a while, a dumb question turns into a flawless creative challenge. We ask it with our full chest: what could make every single movie you’ve ever seen better? Our answer is simple and deeply irresponsible. Add Muppets. Guest Goose Heather jumps in as we build the “Muppet recast rule” that makes the whole thing click: keep one human actor to ground the world, then replace everyone else with Muppets and let the contrast do the heavy lifting. From there, we sprint through a pile of iconic titles and try to cast them like they’re real productions. We get way too specific about who belongs in Lord of the Rings, how Gladiator works if you keep Russell Crowe, and why Silence of the Lambs becomes instantly unwatchable in the funniest way possible when you imagine a puppet delivering the most serious lines. The chaos keeps stacking: Full Metal Jacket becomes a boot camp experiment for Muppets playing themselves, Alien turns into a debate about what still scares you even when it’s felt and foam, and Pirates of the Caribbean basically demands a committed human lead who treats the Muppets like legit scene partners. We also hit Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Caddyshack, and a few more nostalgia grenades, all while trying not to die laughing. Then we pivot hard into a genuine fandom recommendation for Dungeon Crawler Carl, including why the audiobook performance is such a big deal and why Princess Donut and Mongo are the kind of characters that take over your brain. If you like comedy podcasts, movie talk, pop culture riffs, and chaotic friend energy, this one is for you. Subscribe for more, share with the friend who always recasts movies, and leave a review if we made you laugh. What’s the one film you’d pay real money to see as a Muppet version? S2E7: Die Honk and Other Crimes Against Cinema

Swap one actor for a goose and suddenly you learn what a movie is really made of. We start with a deceptively simple pitch, “What if Jaws had a goose in the lead,” then spiral into a full-on pop culture comedy lab where we keep recasting iconic films until our brains short-circuit. We test the idea across horror movies where the rules are strict and the visuals are burned into your memory: Saw traps that have to be resized for goose anatomy, Alien’s chestburster turning into a tiny honking menace, and The Thing staying terrifying even when you picture a goose in the middle of that paranoia. Then we sprint into action and adventure, because nothing sells a gag like momentum: Top Gun becomes a world where pilots ride massive geese, Die Hard becomes Die Honk, and suddenly John Wick and Predator have to answer the question nobody asked, “Is the assassin the goose, or is the goose the reason it all starts?” From there, we open the floodgates into fantasy, animation, and comfort classics: Lord of the Rings roles that weirdly fit, Harry Potter as an entire student body of geese, Pixar and Toy Story with a new goose “toy,” and Titanic survival logic when your main characters can fly. If you love movie trivia, ridiculous “what if” scenarios, and fast improv that still respects why these films are iconic, you’ll feel right at home. Subscribe for more chaos, share this with the friend who quotes movies nonstop, and leave a review with the next film you want us to goose-cast. What movie would you replace with a goose first? S2E6: Have Fun Stormin' the Castle

A movie can be a romance, a comedy, an adventure, and a fairy tale all at the same time, but only if everyone involved commits to the bit and to the heart. We’re joined by our longtime friend Erin, a true Princess Bride superfan, to unpack why The Princess Bride still holds up as a cult classic and a comfort watch, even for people who think older films can’t compete with modern CGI. We get into the behind-the-scenes stories that make the film feel even more miraculous: the ROUS costume chaos, the Fire Swamp’s practical effects, and the kind of on-set problem solving that you can’t fake. Erin also shares what she learned from “An Inconceivable Evening with Cary Elwes” and points us toward the As You Wish audiobook for even more production trivia and cast stories. From there, we zoom in on the craft and emotion that give the movie its staying power. The legendary Inigo vs Westley sword fight wasn’t just “movie magic” it was months of training and a performance built on respect and rhythm. We also talk about Mandy Patinkin’s real-life grief and how it deepens Inigo’s revenge arc, plus Andre the Giant’s unforgettable presence and why the Miracle Max scene works so well when a director like Rob Reiner knows when to let comedic geniuses run. If you love movie trivia, practical filmmaking, or you just want an excuse to quote “Anybody want a peanut?” again, press play. S2E5: Land of the Free Unless You're Honking by a Sandwich Shop

A law says you can’t honk your horn near a sandwich shop after 9 PM. Another says you can’t wake a sleeping bear just to take a photo. If that sounds fake, that’s exactly why we had to talk about it. We run through a rapid-fire list of bizarre US laws and weird state laws that are real, were real, or somehow still linger in the background of local government. We get into old Sunday “blue laws,” common-sense rules that exist because people keep doing dangerous things anyway, and the ultra-specific ordinances that feel like they were written after one oddly committed troublemaker ruined everyone’s night. Along the way we stop for a long detour on bears, why anyone would mess with them, and what “don’t try this” looks like when the animal can break you in half. We also hit everything from frog jumping contests to juggling licenses, haunted-house disclosure rules, Bigfoot protections, and the kind of legal wording that raises more questions than it answers. The bigger takeaway is simple: laws are a snapshot of human behavior, and the strangest ones usually have a story behind them. If you love American history, legal oddities, or travel trivia, hit play, share this with a friend who collects weird facts, and subscribe so you don’t miss Part 2. S2E4: The Bell Witch - America's Pettiest Ghost

A ghost that doesn’t just haunt a house, but keeps showing up across American history like a bad habit? That’s the Bell Witch, and once you hear the full arc, it’s hard to unsee why people still call it America’s number one ghost story. We start in Robertson County on the Red River near Adams, Tennessee, where the Bell family builds a frontier life on land with a much older past, including Native burial grounds and the hard realities of early Tennessee economics. From there, the legend kicks off with Kate Batts, a neighbor tied to a dispute that some sources frame as a simple land deal and others connect to the buying and selling of enslaved people. Either way, the folklore version lands on a curse and a promise to haunt the Bells “forever” and then actually follows through. Then the haunting gets weirdly specific: scratching walls, poltergeist chaos, a voice that talks back, and a spirit with a personality that ranges from petty prankster to violent menace, especially toward Betsy Bell. We also unpack the famous Andrew Jackson cameo, why it’s so sticky in the retellings, and why historians don’t fully buy the timeline. Finally, we trace how the Bell Witch story spreads through newspapers, a major 1894 book, a 1930s media panic, and modern pop culture, from horror inspiration to the Bell Witch cave becoming a real tourism destination. If you’re into American folklore, Tennessee ghost stories, paranormal history, and the way media can turn a local haunting into a national legend, hit play. S2E3: Teeth Thieves, UFOs, and a Dick Named Jerry - A Presidential History

Presidents are sold to us as symbols: brave founders, steady wartime leaders, polished portraits with perfect quotes. We’re not buying it today. Scott joins us for a rapid-fire ride through weird presidential facts that are hilarious, grim, and strangely revealing, the kind of American history trivia that makes you stop mid-sentence and say, “Wait, that’s real?”  We get into George Washington’s uncomfortable realities, from the famous teeth myth to the darker truth behind what was actually in his mouth, plus the very human fear that he might be buried alive. From there, the conversation leaps to eerie timing and coincidence, including multiple presidents tied to July 4 deaths and the way Lincoln and Kennedy parallels keep fueling both fascination and conspiracy. We also talk about how a simple typo can become a lifelong identity, how some presidents literally weren’t elected into the roles they held, and why “OK” might owe its popularity to a campaign slogan and old slang.  Then it gets messy: Warren G. Harding’s Prohibition-era hypocrisy, poker culture, and a documented affair with letters so ridiculous they feel made up. We dig into assassination-era incompetence, like Garfield’s infection and Alexander Graham Bell’s metal detector being sabotaged by a metal-spring mattress. And because we can’t resist one more rabbit hole, we touch UFO lore, Area 51 security, and how modern presidents can be surprisingly normal, right down to the unforgettable George W. Bush quotes.  If you like comedy podcasts with real history, presidential scandal stories, and the kind of facts you immediately text to a friend, hit play. S2E2: John Paul Jones America’s First Naval Gremlin

The American Revolution didn’t just need speeches and muskets, it needed a navy that could survive against the most dominant fleet on Earth. That’s where John Paul Jones storms into the story: a Scottish-born sailor who shows up with a talent for violence, a deep hatred of the British Empire, and a willingness to do the kind of things polite history books often sand down. We follow how he goes from merchant routes to becoming a Continental Navy icon whose name still rattles around naval history like cannon fire.  We dig into the messier parts too. Jones is portrayed as a contradiction: someone who condemns slavery and takes real risks to free enslaved people, while also embracing pirate tactics, deception, and a brutal brand of warfare that raises serious ethical questions. We talk privateering, stolen ships, forged paperwork, and why Britain paints him as a pirate scourge. Then we hit the legendary moments, including the Whitehaven raid and the Bonhomme Richard battle against HMS Serapis that gives us the immortal line: “I have not yet begun to fight.”  Along the way, we nerd out on Revolutionary War logistics: how sailors navigate by constellations, how trade routes function like highways on the Atlantic, and how commanders plan around slow, outdated information. We close with Jones’s strange afterlife, from an unmarked grave in Paris to being honored at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, plus the wild footnote of a pardon from Whitehaven in 1999.  If you like American history, naval warfare, and true stories where the “hero” label feels complicated, hit play, then subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave us a review. S2E1: Waffle House, NASCAR, and Deep-Fried Butter

Season two starts the only way we know how: a little unhinged, a little heartfelt, and way too honest about how close we can get to burnout before we call it a “season.” We talk about why the social media game is exhausting for podcasters and small business creators, and how recording something for the internet can turn a quick, satisfying project into a full production with angles, shots, sound, edits, and endless second-guessing. Then we pivot into America with Fourth of July energy and a point we refuse to blur: we can love our country and still criticize our government. What we’re chasing is American culture, American people, and the bizarre, lovable stuff that feels unmistakably U.S. right now. The surge of international visitors and soccer fans becomes a bright spot, like a great American sleepover where strangers trade curiosity instead of contempt. We talk about how the melting pot actually looks on the ground: messy, funny, and full of unexpected warmth. From Waffle House to county fairs, deep-fried everything, 18-wheelers, pickup trucks, tailgating, NASCAR, fireworks tents in random fields, and the way we “Americanize” pizza, tea, and even the word football, we build a running list of icons that make us laugh because they’re true. Along the way we detour into baseball nostalgia, hockey chaos, pro wrestling as peak American theater, and the one name we’ll always defend as a national treasure: Dolly Parton. We close with the country’s underrated beauty, West Virginia pride, and why “Country Roads” still makes people sing. Subscribe for more season two chaos, share this with your most patriotic friend, and leave a review telling us what you think is the most American thing of all.
