Episode 48 | Leviticus Launch! King Cakes, Guardian Angels, New Series, & Holiness

(3:29) Question of the Day: What is your favorite flavor of King Cake? (8:24) Hot Topic:Do we have guardian angels? (17:12) Discussion & Member Questions: Let’s recap what we covered on Sunday just to remind everyone what it was about (21:10) Was just listening to episode 47 and had a question. In episode 47, Kevin mentioned how detrimental to our health and the pace of American life is. How can we practically slow down and keep a more reasonable pace when there is so much pressure for hustle?(27:58) Thanks for not being scared of Leviticus. It is not a boring book of Scripture & so many ignore it! & I grew up in a church that went through Leviticus often. Why do you think some people avoid it?(33:30) Do you have any tips or advice on the best way for the church to read along as we go through the series?(36:59) I’ve always heard of people using Scripture out of context and try to understand the context when I’m reading my Bible and applying it to life. So it seems Leviticus was written to the Jewish people. How do we make the connections that what was said to them is for us today? Is it simply all of the Bible is for everyone? & For those who feel like this is just old covenant, how is it still applicable today?(46:04) Do you think the Angel of the Lord in the Old Testament is a pre-incarnate Jesus or something else? It’s interesting because the Angel of the Lord is not mentioned in the New Testament. Thanks!(48:23) Could you talk some more about the chart or outline of Leviticus and the different people that the sections are written to?(50:15) When it comes to holiness, we can tend to think that it’s a losing battle. It can feel overwhelming or discouraging. As we study Leviticus, what mindset should we bring to the idea of holiness?(1:00:39) Celebration: Hold the Rope

Episode 47 | Abram is here! Identifying with Bible Characters, Staying Informed, and Being a Disciple Maker and Globally Minded

(1:39) Question of the Day: Which character in the Bible do you identify with the most and why? (4:54) Hot Topic: Where do you draw the line between staying informed vs completely blocking out all news? (15:59) Discussion & Member Questions: Let’s recap what we covered on Sunday just to remind everyone what it was about (19:44) What is the difference between christian friends and a discipling relationship? (22:06) How do you determine that you are a “step ahead” of someone else spiritually?(27:16) Kevin, you mentioned when you come to somebody, you should have a set period of time and something to go over. Can you give some examples of what you have gone over with someone?(31:11) What is a reasonable amount of time to ask someone to disciple you?(33:38) What does that time together doing discipleship practically look like?(43:10) We looked at the 10/40 window…Why is it that India is so unreached? (A lot of red dots)(45:21) Why is it that there were red dots in the U.S. and other well-developed countries? I often think of unreached people groups as undeveloped areas.(46:06) Could you talk about the 10/40 initiative and what you intend to use the $10.40 given regularly for?(52:46) We had to cut the livestream at the end because of using names and details that are too sensitive to share. Could you give a summary of what you wanted to share in that time without sharing those sensitive details?(57:14) Celebration: Sending Efforts

Episode 45 | We're Back! Goals & Resolutions, Styles of Communion, Being a Self-Feeder, and Being Relationally Accountable

(0:30) Catching Up (6:05) Question of the Day:  What are your goals/resolutions for the year? (13:22) Hot Topic: Why do churches in the U.S. practice communion so differently? Why do we do what we do? Discussion & Member Questions: (24:15) We just started a new series! Why did you both feel it was important to go through the marks of a healthy disciple now?(27:10) While preparing this sermon, were there any parts you wished you would have had more time to draw out?(32:45) What would you say to someone who has had maybe a poor experience in a community group or a d-group and they’re thinking that they’ve tried it and it’s not for them?(36:50) Have you noticed that in many families, one spouse often becomes the primary driver of community for the family?(45:29) In the last sermon, we talked about being all things to all people and surrendering our freedom to win some. Do y’all have examples in our everyday lives beyond things like alcohol and not eating certain foods because of religious differences? I’m curious so I can be more aware. (52:28) What are some good places to start if you don’t currently have a plan? Do you have some favorite ways to study the Bible or books to go through?(55:35) Steve, you shared that 36% say they “rarely respond to God’s word with obedience and faith.” What do these statistics reveal to you and why do you think there’s a gap between hearing God’s Word and actually living it out?(1:01:18) Celebration: SALT Conference, Year-End Giving, and Healthy Disciple Participiation
