Can Being “Out of Shape” Kill Your Relationship—and Your Sex Life?

Send us Fan Mail What does your fitness have to do with your confidence, your relationship, and even your sex life? More than you might think. On this episode of Love Liaisons, Kathryn and Marina sit down with physical performance coach Gal Yefet for a candid and sometimes provocative conversation about fitness, relationships, body changes, confidence, intimacy, nutrition, boundaries, and supporting your partner. Gal shares how fitness can become about much more than appearance. For many people, becoming stronger physically can build confidence, change how they see themselves, and give them the courage to make changes in other areas of their lives. He even shares the story of a former client whose fitness journey helped her develop the confidence to start dating—and ultimately find her partner. But what happens when your partner isn't supportive of your changing body? We talk openly about weight gain, menopause, long-term relationships, body criticism, attraction, and the damage that judgment can cause. Gal emphasizes that couples should approach health as a team—not as one partner policing or criticizing the other. The goal isn't judgment. It's support, shared goals, and progress. And then we get into the topic many couples may be thinking about but aren't always comfortable discussing: sex and intimacy. Can physical strength, stamina, mobility, and overall fitness influence intimacy? Gal explains how maintaining strength and mobility as we age can help us stay physically capable and engaged with our partners. But the conversation also goes deeper: when intimacy changes, don't automatically assume fitness is the problem. Attraction, resentment, mood, communication, and sexual connection may all need to be explored. In this episode, we explore: 💪 Fitness and confidence: Why feeling stronger can change how you see yourself❤️ Fitness and relationships: How health habits can affect long-term partnerships🔥 Fitness and intimacy: The role of strength, stamina, mobility, and energy in your sex life👫 Supporting your partner: Why encouragement works better than criticism🌿 Menopause and body changes: How life transitions can affect fitness and relationships🚩 Body shaming and judgment: What happens when a partner becomes critical of your body🗣️ Boundaries: Learning to say “stop” when criticism crosses a line🧠 The mind-body connection: How stress, emotions, confidence, and physical health intersect🥗 Nutrition and emotional eating: Looking honestly at what we eat without shame📈 Progress over perfection: Why small, consistent changes can make a bigger difference than trying to change everything at once🤝 Knowing when you need help: When a fitness coach, therapist, or sex therapist may each have a different roleOne of our biggest takeaways: Don't get fit just to keep your partner. Get stronger for yourself. Your body is not a project for someone else to criticize. A healthy relationship should be a partnership where both people support each other's goals, respect boundaries, and celebrate progress. As Gal puts it, the shift is from judging to supporting. And when it comes to relationships, fitness isn't a magic solution. Sometimes the issue isn't physical at all—and that's when honest communication and the right professional support can make all the difference. So grab your wine, tea, or coffee and join us for a conversation about getting stronger, feeling more confident, loving your body, supporting your partner—and maybe keeping a little more spark in your relationship along the way. Episode 16: Love Like a Badass with Guests: Tina and Javany

Send us Fan Mail The Badass Method - Finding Love After Divorce (with Tina & Javany) Hosts Kathryn and Marina of Love Liaisons welcome Tina, founder of Badass Arts and creator of the neuroscience-informed Badass Method, to discuss shifting from performance-based identity to embodied self-leadership, midlife reinvention, and patterns that keep high-capacity women overfunctioning in love. Tina shares how a chaotic childhood and two divorces led her to mindfulness- and science-based practices, including HeartMath heart-brain coherence and Positive Intelligence concepts (judge/saboteurs vs. sage). She describes dating for eight years and going on 100+ dates, learning to drop rigid “checkboxes,” read dating bios, and prioritize trust and respect over chemistry. Tina explains her daily “I am” belief-based “badass formations” (e.g., “I am loved, loving, lovable”) and how they preceded meeting her husband, Javany, who joins to share his widower journey, instant recognition of Tina’s authenticity, and why she made him want to be a husband. The episode emphasizes safety, empathy, partnership, and mutual support. 00:00 Welcome to Love Liaisons 00:21 Meet Tina and Badass Method 01:18 Drinks and Vibes 02:51 Tina’s Origin Story 04:44 Divorce to Reinvention 09:35 Heart Brain Coherence 12:23 Dating Patterns and Checklists 14:48 Meeting Giovanni Online 17:17 I Am Practice and Manifesting 24:10 Belief Based Badass Formations 27:03 Trust Respect Over Chemistry 30:59 Handling Conflict with PQ 35:16 Meditation and Modern Stress 37:33 Advice for Long Term Singles 38:12 No One Size Fits All 38:51 Wired For Companionship 41:18 Why We Need Men 44:16 I Can Love Me Better 46:36 Calling In Real Love 49:21 Confidence Anthem Moment 50:50 Javany Joins In 51:43 How They Met Online 01:01:08 Wanting To Be A Husband 01:05:52 What Makes Love Last 01:10:17 Episode Takeaways 01:14:00 Badass Art Explained 01:15:32 Closing Cheers Tina Bernard - The Badass Arts - https://www.thebadassarts.com  Follow us on FB @Love Liaisons, IG @loveliaisons, TikTok @love.liaisons www.love-liaisons.com For more information about relationship and mindful life coaching  or speaking engagements contact Marina at marinaismindful@gmail.com

Finding Community and Connection with Mingle Jewish Singles - Guest Ronit

Send us Fan Mail Hosts Kathryn and Marina welcome Ronit, a local realtor who created “Mingle” a Facebook and WhatsApp community for Jewish singles ages 40–70 across Southern California and nearby Baja Mexico. The conversation explores post-pandemic social isolation, reduced flirting and touch, shifting social skills, introvert/extrovert dynamics, and ideas like pairing extroverts with introverts to help people feel comfortable. They discuss misinformation and antisemitism, immigration experiences, fear of being visibly Jewish, and Jewish values like Tikkun Olam -- healing the world, ending with ways to connect with the group and the podcast.   00:00 Welcome to Love Liaisons 00:26 Meet Ronit and Mingle 00:46 Tea and Wine Check 02:12 How Mingle Started 03:37 Why Community Matters 05:46 Beyond Dating Apps 06:52 Chemistry Online vs Real 08:51 Why We Feel Isolated 12:19 Relearning Flirting and Touch 16:34 Helping Shy Guests Connect 18:20 Introverts and Extroverts 21:48 Safe Spaces and Antisemitism 23:48 Interfaith Dating Realities 26:42 Kindness Over Labels 29:46 Judaism as Culture Too 30:59 Mezuzah and Netanyahu Debate 32:23 Israel as Lifeline 35:13 Soviet Jewish Escape 37:16 Why the Hate 38:49 Bigger Picture War 41:36 Isolation and Fear 47:48 Hanukkah Decor Targeted 49:34 Pride Over Fear 52:48 Tikkun Olam and Community 55:10 Song and Sign Off     Follow us on FB @Love Liaisons, IG @loveliaisons, TikTok @love.liaisons www.love-liaisons.com For more information about relationship and mindful life coaching  or speaking engagements contact Marina at marinaismindful@gmail.com
