What's up everyone and welcome back to Nostalgic Chats Podcast with the OG crew—Danny, Harry, Carmelo, and Chad! Is scalping smart business, or is it killing collecting? In Episode 36, we're diving into one of the biggest frustrations in the world of collectibles, gaming, toys, Pokémon cards, and fandoms—SCALPING. From video game consoles and Pokémon cards to concert tickets, collectibles, toys, and even everyday products, we're talking about how buying up highly sought-after items and reselling them for profit has changed the way people shop and collect. We share our own experiences and debate both sides of the issue. Is reselling simply supply and demand, or has scalping gone too far? Danny kicks things off with his thoughts on how scalping creates a divide between casual collectors and people treating collecting like a business. Harry talks about how frustrating it is seeing kids and regular fans struggle to get the things they love because they're competing against people buying items specifically to flip them. We also talk about how scalping exploded during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were fighting over essentials like toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and how that experience changed the way many people looked at reselling and price gouging. And of course, we get into the big question: Who's really responsible—the reseller buying everything up, or the person willing to pay the inflated price? 🤔 We talk about purchase limits, the rise of professional resellers, Pokémon cards, video games, toys, collectibles, concert tickets, and whether hobbies are slowly becoming something only people with deep pockets can afford. Plus, expect plenty of opinions, stories, arguments, laughs, and the classic Nostalgic Chats OG crew banter you've come to expect! 💬 QUESTION OF THE EPISODE: Do you think scalpers are ruining collecting, or is it simply supply and demand? And here's the bigger question: Who is more responsible—the person doing the scalping or the person paying the inflated price? 👀 👇 Let us know what YOU think in the comments!
