    A Grenade Went Off in My Brain - Rodeo Cowboy's Miracle Comeback | Tim Malm | 087

    "My doctor said it was like having a grenade go off between my ears." Tim Malm had no scratch, no broken bone — but his brain was bleeding to death. On June 16th, 2010, Tim was steer roping when the rope jerked tight and snapped his head. His brain slammed from one side to the other, causing massive internal bleeding. For two weeks in ICU, "the lights were on but nobody was home." Hundreds of people filled the waiting room praying during emergency brain surgery. Doctors said he would never walk again, never do anything he wanted to do again, and never eat regular food again. Today, Tim is home and getting stronger with the Lord. He can eat regular food again, speaks at rodeo churches, the Denver Stock Show and Cheyenne Frontier Days, runs his coffee company Stronger413 — named for Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" — and wrote a 26-day devotional on Joshua called The Battlefield.     I Put A Gun in My Mouth, Pulled the Trigger, & It Didn't Go Off | Matthew Headden | 085

    He put a .45 in his mouth and pulled the trigger — and by God's grace, it didn't go off. Matthew Headden spent over two decades trapped in alcohol, cocaine, meth and nicotine addiction. He describes himself as rebellious, arrogant and self-centered, drinking 30-40-50 drinks at a time, using 2 1/2 eight balls a week, and once waking up on a plane to Cancun with no memory of how he got there. Five years before his surrender, at his lowest point, Matthew put his 1911 .45 in his mouth. "I can still taste that steel," he says. He pulled the trigger — and it didn't fire. Three and a half years ago, after another weekend lost to drinking, he was driving back to Columbia, SC at 4:15 AM listening to "Offering" by Third Day and prayed, "God, I know I have a problem... if you would give me a sign, that'd be really rad." Five hours later his attorney called about a 3-year-old DUI case where he was "super duper guilty" — and said, "your case is dismissed." Matthew hit his knees in an alleyway and said, "I surrender. I'm Yours. Never again." He hasn't touched alcohol or cocaine since — no meetings, no program. Today Matthew leads Temple Keepers with his wife Leah, helping Christians live disciplined lives through movement, nutrition, sleep and stress — because "we don't have an obesity epidemic in the church, we have a stewardship epidemic."
