The World Series MLB Doesn't Want

Send us Fan Mail Major League Baseball probably will never admit this, but the Milwaukee Brewers taking on the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series is NOT what they were hoping for. TV MARKETS - Tampa/St. Petersburg is the #11 media market in the United States while Milwaukee is #39.  This is a LONG way from New York (#1) and Los Angeles (#2). PAYROLL - the Brewers have the 19th highest payroll in Major League Baseball while the Rays are the 25th.   The end result is that having two small market, low payroll teams on display for everyone to see totally undermines MLB's contention that a salary cap is necessary for competitive balance, which you KNOW is what is on the table in the upcoming collective bargaining agreement negotiations. In addition, there's a huge missing factor in this series - there's no villian. Which leads us to the Yankees.  Hal Steinbrenner HAS to know that his fanbase is seething right now, and what the team is offering for 2027 is more of the same with the return of both GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone.  Stability may be great for some (most?) organizations, but Hal might not be reading the room properly. Also up for discussion this week -  GIANTS - they may be leading the NFC East, but have a VERY deceptive record. EAGLES - the Jalen Hurts medical situation is surrounded by a multitude of questions. BILLS - speaking of deceptive records, if they don't fix the defense soon, they can kiss the AFC East lead goodbye. Follow us on Social Media for more content.
