    The Final Ghouls are back and discovering our mutant powers as we explore the X-Men teen horror film The New Mutants!  Holly, Jeremy and L explore what works about this adaptation of the beloved comics (not much), what doesn't work (a lot), learn about its highly unfortunate production history amidst the Disney-Fox merger, and try to suss out exactly what went wrong here. Get Ready For: Discussion of our history with X-Men movies and comic books, L's controversial takes on the MCU, Jeremy's sustained rant about the racism toward the Indigenous character and the problematic "There are two bears inside you" opening narration, Holly's utter offense at Charlie Heaton's "Southern" accent, our thoughts on how well Ilyana's abuse backstory is handled, the queer love story at the center, the botched use of the Demon Bear, and L completely breaking our outro with their rate and review gag. Holly, Jeremy and L take a look at this Frankenstein-inspired tale from Tyler McIntyre and explore its themes of feminine rage and mental health, debate the quality of some of the performances, and question whether there needed to be a romantic element.     The Final Ghouls are going back into the water as we look at the mother of all shark movies in 1975's Jaws!  Holly, Jeremy and L dive deep into the themes of Steven Spielberg's man vs. nature thriller, recount its infamously-troubled production history, and talk about our love of the three lead characters as they spend time out on the water. Get Ready For: Discussion of the anti-capitalist elements of the film, Jeremy's argument for why this is a slasher film, the value of practical effects (and what's wrong with current CGI), L reporting their research (credit to Plumbing the Death Star) on how to help or stop a shark, thoughts on how it created the summer blockbuster and why blockbuster season is very different in Australia, Holly's disdain for live-action Disney remakes, how easy the mayor is to hate and some surprising (but valid!) related recommendations. Holly, Jeremy and L explore the film's big reveals, how its themes of toxic relationships play out to us, the retrofutristic aesthetics and much more.     The Final Ghouls are getting fitted for explosive collars and making life-or-death alliances as we look at the 2000 Japanese dystopian action-thriller Battle Royale!  Holly, Jeremy and L dive into the controversy surrounding the film's release,  how which characters resonated the most with us and the several themes built into the movie Get Ready For: Discussion how the film differs from the novel thanks to L, the inevitable Hunger Games comparison, lots of Mitsuko love, Jeremy's top five Battle Royale characters, why you shouldn't (or should!) try to order the Royal Rumble while sick, why the Ultimate Edition's ending doesn't work for us, and our apologies for stumbling through the pronunciation of some of the character and talent names.     The Final Ghouls are taking a trip into the woods -- and possibly other dimensions -- as we look at the 1980 Disney-made supernatural horror film The Watcher In the Woods!  We don't all agree on how successful this one is and Holly, Jeremy and L have a healthy debate on what works and what doesn't for each of us.     The Final Ghouls are finishing up our Fear Street coverage as we look at the brand new entry in the franchise, Fear Street: Prom Queen!  Sadly, this isn't a winner for us and Holly, Jeremy and L share our thoughts on when the movie drops the ball (usually), where it succeeds (far less often) and our hopes for where the franchise goes from here. Holly, Jeremy and L travel back to the past to discuss the concluding chapter's witchy elements, how the film works as a conclusion to the story and our thoughts on the three films as a whole, then preview the newly-released Fear Street: Prom Queen. Get Ready For: Thoughts on the film's thematic elements, 1666's accent problem, how we feel about period horror as a whole, which character should have died when we got back to 1994, who we think we see in the mid-credits scene, split thoughts on the super soakers, our favorite moments from the franchise as a whole and the glory of Martin the janitor.
