GTG - A Life On The Altar

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” — Romans 12:1 "A Life on the Altar" Context Romans 12:1 invites us to respond to God’s mercy by offering our whole lives to Him. This surrender goes beyond words—it is expressed through our attitudes, choices, and service. Each day becomes an opportunity to honor God, turning ordinary moments into acts of worship. Today’s Reflection Before the demands of this day begin calling for your attention, take a moment to offer yourself to God. Not just your plans or your problems, but your whole self—your thoughts, your words, your abilities, and your attitude. The invitation in this verse begins with the mercies of God. We do not surrender to earn His love; we surrender in response to it. His mercy is the foundation of our offering. Remembering His goodness changes the way we approach the day: instead of asking only, “What do I need to accomplish?” we can ask, “Lord, how can my life honor You?” To be a living sacrifice is to practice surrender in the ordinary moments. It may mean choosing patience when you feel rushed, speaking gently when frustration rises, or laying aside your preference so you can serve someone else. It may mean placing a cherished dream in God’s hands while remaining faithful to the work before you. You do not have to wait for a platform, a perfect circumstance, or a remarkable opportunity to give God something meaningful. Offer Him the hands that will work today. Offer Him the voice that will speak today. Offer Him the heart that will respond to whatever today brings. Let your first offering this morning be a willing heart: “Lord, I belong to You. Help me live like it.” Key Takeaways Surrender your whole self to God. Offer Him your thoughts, words, actions, plans, and attitude—not just your problems.Let mercy be your motivation. Your offering is a response to God’s love, not an effort to earn it.Make worship a daily practice. Honor God through your work, your conversations, and the way you treat others.Choose faithfulness in ordinary moments. Patience, kindness, humility, and service give practical expression to your devotion.Trust God with what you hold tightly. Place your dreams and desires in His hands while remaining faithful to today’s responsibilities.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the mercies that welcome me into this new day. I present myself to You—my body, my mind, my words, and my desires. Make my life an offering that honors You. Where I am holding tightly to my own way, teach me to trust You. Where impatience or pride would shape my response, help me choose humility and love. Guide my work, govern my words, and help me recognize the opportunities to serve that I might otherwise overlook. May my worship extend beyond what I say in prayer into how I live throughout this day. In Jesus’ name, amen. Today’s Practice Before beginning your first task, pause and pray: “Lord, I offer this work and my attitude to You.” Return to that prayer whenever the day pulls your attention away from Him. © 2026 Douglas R. GTG - You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” —Galatians 6:2 "You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone" Context Paul’s instruction calls believers to practice love by helping one another through struggles, especially when someone has fallen into sin and needs gentle restoration. This verse is not simply about offering help during difficult circumstances; it is also about how a community of faith responds to human weakness—with humility and care rather than pride and condemnation. What Comes Before the Verse? In Galatians 5:13–14, Paul teaches that Christian freedom should lead believers to serve one another through love. He connects this service to the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Galatians 6 then shows what that love looks like in practice. Immediately before the instruction to bear one another’s burdens, Paul tells believers to restore someone caught in wrongdoing gently. He also warns those helping to watch themselves, because they, too, are vulnerable to temptation. The goal is restoration, not humiliation. Devotional Thought Before the day gets busy, pause and consider this: someone you encounter today may be carrying a burden you cannot see. Behind a smile may be grief. Beneath a quiet response may be exhaustion. Behind the words “I’m fine” may be a heart longing for someone to listen. Our morning Scripture invites us to notice—to look beyond our own schedules and make room for another person’s struggle. Bearing a burden may be as simple as making a phone call, delivering a meal, offering a ride, or sitting beside someone without trying to find the perfect words. You do not have to possess every answer to offer meaningful support. Sometimes your willingness to stay, listen, and care speaks more clearly than advice ever could. Ask yourself this morning: “Whose load could I help lighten today?” And if you are the one feeling overwhelmed, allow this invitation to reach you, too. You do not need to hide your struggle to prove your strength. Let someone know what you need. Give others the opportunity to show you the same kindness you would gladly offer them. As you begin this day, leave room in your plans for a person. One thoughtful act may not change every circumstance, but it can remind someone that they are not facing those circumstances alone. Key Take-Aways Notice the person, not just the behavior. A difficult moment may conceal a heavy burden.Make kindness specific. Ask, “What is one thing I can help you with today?”Listen before offering solutions. Give someone room to speak honestly.Offer what you can. A small, sincere act of care still matters.Receive help without shame. You can be both a source of encouragement and someone who needs it.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new morning. Open my eyes to the people around me and soften my heart toward burdens I may not understand. Keep me from being so occupied with my own plans that I overlook someone who needs care. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to listen, and how to help. Let my kindness become action rather than remain an intention. When my own heart is heavy, give me the courage to ask for support and the humility to receive it. May someone experience Your love through my words, my patience, and my willingness to show up today. GTG - Begin Your Morning with Reverence

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” — Proverbs 9:10 "Begin Your Morning with Reverence" Context Proverbs 9:10 reminds us that true wisdom begins with honoring God. As we begin each morning, we are invited to look beyond our own understanding and seek His direction. Knowing Him shapes not only what we believe, but how we think, speak, and live. Devotional Thought Before the demands of this day begin to speak, take a moment to acknowledge the One whose wisdom you need. There will be decisions to make, responsibilities to carry, and conversations that require care. You do not have to enter them relying only on your own understanding. The fear of the Lord is not about beginning your morning in dread. It is about approaching God with reverence—with a heart that recognizes His holiness, honors His authority, and remains willing to be taught. It is the humble acknowledgment: “Lord, I have plans, but I need Your direction.” Proverbs 9:10 connects wisdom with knowing God. Wisdom begins not simply with gathering more information, but with giving God His rightful place in our lives. We can know many things and still need His guidance about what matters most, when to speak, and how to respond with grace. This morning, resist the urge to make prayer an afterthought. Before you ask God to bless your plans, invite Him to shape them. Bring Him your ambitions, your concerns, and the decisions you would rather handle on your own. A teachable heart makes room for a wiser response. You may not receive an answer to every question today. Still, you can approach each uncertainty with a settled commitment to honor God. Let your first act of wisdom be this: pause, acknowledge Him, and listen before you move. Key Take-Aways Start with God. Give Him your attention before giving the day your energy.Remain teachable. Hold your plans with humility and welcome His correction.Seek more than information. Pursue a deeper knowledge of God and His character.Practice reverence through obedience. Let your choices reflect the honor you express in prayer.Make room for a thoughtful response. Before speaking or acting, consider what would honor Him.Prayer Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this new morning. Before I step into its responsibilities, I pause to honor You. You are holy, wise, and worthy of my trust. Teach me to begin with You rather than with my own assumptions. Forgive me for the times I have rushed ahead without seeking Your direction. Give me a humble spirit, a listening heart, and a willingness to obey. Help me to know You more deeply. Shape my thoughts, guide my words, and bring my priorities into agreement with Your will. Where I am uncertain, help me seek wisdom rather than rush to an answer. Where I need correction, help me receive it with gratitude. May my decisions today reflect my reverence for You. Let knowing You matter more to me than appearing to have all the answers. In Jesus’ name, amen. © 2026 Douglas R. Bramwell — All Rights Reserved.

GTG - A Word at the Right Time

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” — Proverbs 15:23, KJV "A Word at the Right Time" Context Proverbs 15:23 reminds us that the right words, spoken at the right time, can bring joy and encouragement. A thoughtful response begins with listening and recognizing what someone needs in the moment. The phrase “a word spoken in due season” draws our attention to timing. In the devotional’s focus, the question is not merely, “What can I say?” but, “What does this person need to hear in this moment?” Perhaps it is encouragement before a difficult task, reassurance after disappointment, or an honest answer offered gently. Consider a friend who admits, “I don’t know whether I can keep going.” Rather than immediately offering a list of solutions, you might begin with, “I’m glad you told me. You don’t have to face this alone.” That response makes room for the person before trying to solve the problem. Devotional Thought Every morning brings opportunities to speak into someone’s life. Before the day is over, you may encounter someone who needs reassurance, someone who needs gentle correction, or someone who simply needs to hear, “You are not alone.” Proverbs 15:23 invites us to recognize the goodness of a fitting response. A word “in due season” is more than a true statement—it is a word offered with care for the person and the moment. Even good advice can miss its purpose when delivered without tenderness or before someone is ready to receive it. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is pause. Listening gives us room to understand what a quick response might overlook. Rather than speaking to prove a point or fill the silence, we can ask: “Lord, what would serve this person well right now?” You do not need an impressive speech to make a meaningful difference today. A sincere thank-you, a thoughtful apology, or a quiet word of encouragement may be enough. There is joy in knowing that your words helped someone feel seen rather than dismissed, strengthened rather than discouraged. As you begin this day, surrender your conversations to God. Let your aim be more than having the right answer. Seek to offer the right word, with the right spirit, at the right time. Key Takeaways Listen before you answer. Give people your attention before offering your perspective.Consider the timing. Ask whether this moment calls for encouragement, counsel, or simply your presence.Speak truth with kindness. Let your tone support the good you intend your words to accomplish.Make encouragement intentional. Look for one person you can sincerely affirm today.Leave room for a pause. You do not have to respond immediately to respond wisely.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new morning and the opportunity to bring goodness into someone’s life. Guide my thoughts, my tone, and my timing today. Help me listen with patience and speak with understanding. Keep me from careless replies, harsh judgments, and the need to have the last word. Show me when to speak and when to be still. Where someone is weary, help me offer encouragement. Where there is tension, help me respond with grace. Where truth is needed, give me both courage and gentleness. May the words of my mouth reflect Your love, and may my conversations leave others strengthened. In Jesus’ name, amen. © 2026 Douglas R. GTG - Restore My Joy (A Fresh Start in God’s Presence)

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” —Psalm 51:12 "Restore My Joy" A Fresh Start in God’s Presence Context Psalm 51:12 expresses a heartfelt desire for restoration—not simply to feel better, but to rediscover the joy of God’s salvation. This morning’s devotional invites us to bring God our weary hearts, ask Him to renew our joy, and depend on His Spirit to sustain us throughout the day. Devotional Thought Before the demands of this day begin, take a moment to bring your heart before God—not the version that appears strong to everyone else, but the heart He already knows. Bring Him your weariness, your disappointments, your regrets, and even the feelings you struggle to put into words. “Restore unto me” is an honest prayer. It acknowledges that something precious needs renewing. Perhaps you still believe, yet the delight you once found in God’s presence feels distant. Perhaps your prayers have become hurried, your worship distracted, or your heart weighed down by yesterday’s mistakes. You do not have to pretend that everything is well in order to pray. Make the words of this verse your own: “Lord, restore what has grown weary within me. Help me rejoice in Your salvation again.” Notice that the prayer asks for more than a moment of happiness. It also asks, “Uphold me.” We need both renewal and sustaining grace—a heart refreshed in God’s presence and a spirit willing to follow His direction. As you enter this morning, let restoration begin with surrender. You do not need to manufacture a feeling or force a perfect start. Simply turn toward God with an honest heart. Let your first prayer be less about getting everything done and more about walking through everything with Him. Key Takeaways Ask honestly. Bring your spiritual weariness to God without hiding it behind religious words.Seek renewed joy. Make room to delight in God’s salvation, not merely move through a daily routine.Pray for sustaining grace. Ask not only to be refreshed this morning, but also to be upheld throughout the day.Choose a willing response. Identify one step of obedience you can take today with a surrendered heart.Begin with gratitude. Before reaching for your list of responsibilities, pause to thank God for His mercy.Prayer Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this new morning. I come before You with an open heart, asking You to restore unto me the joy of Your salvation. Forgive me for the ways I have allowed distractions, disappointments, or sin to draw my attention away from You. Renew my delight in Your presence. Where my heart has become weary, refresh me. Where I have grown resistant, make me willing. Where I have depended only on my own strength, teach me to lean on You. Uphold me with Your free spirit. Let my words, choices, and attitude reflect a heart that is being renewed by Your grace. Whatever this day holds, help me walk through it with gratitude, obedience, and trust in You. GTG - A Heart and a Voice That Honor God

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.” —Psalm 19:14 "A Heart and a Voice That Honor God" Concept Begin the morning by surrendering both your inner thoughts and your spoken words to God. A life that honors Him begins not simply with saying the right things, but with allowing Him to shape the heart behind them. Devotional Thought Before the day fills with conversations, responsibilities, and unexpected challenges, take a quiet moment to place your heart before the Lord. Ask Him not only to guide what you say, but also to tend to what you silently rehearse within. It is possible to speak politely while carrying resentment. We can offer encouragement to others while allowing fear and self-criticism to dominate our own thoughts. This morning’s Scripture invites us into a deeper surrender—one in which both our outward expression and our inward meditation become an offering to God. Let surrender be your first response today. Before answering a difficult message, pause. Before repeating a discouraging thought, bring it to the Lord. Before entering an important conversation, ask Him to help you speak with honesty, patience, and grace. Notice how personal this prayer becomes: “my strength, and my redeemer.” You are not asking a distant God to judge your performance. You are turning to the One you depend on for strength and redemption. You can bring Him the thoughts you wish you did not have and the words you wish you had not spoken. Today, make room for His work within you. You may not control every circumstance you encounter, but you can continually offer Him your response. Let this morning begin with a willing heart and a simple prayer: “Lord, may what happens within me—and what comes from me—honor You.” Key Take-Aways Invite God into your thoughts. Bring Him your worries, motives, and unspoken frustrations—not just your spoken requests.Pause before you respond. Give yourself a moment to choose words that are truthful, gracious, and helpful.Pay attention to what you rehearse. When resentment or fear returns, use it as a prompt to pray rather than continue the inner argument.Depend on God’s strength. Ask for His help in the very moment patience or restraint feels difficult.Begin again when you fall short. Acknowledge a harmful word, make amends where needed, and return your heart to God.Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new morning. Before I speak to anyone else, I turn my heart toward You. Search my thoughts and help me recognize anything I have allowed to take root that does not honor You. Where there is resentment, teach me forgiveness. Where there is fear, help me trust You. Where there is pride, give me humility. Let my words carry truth without cruelty, kindness without dishonesty, and encouragement without empty promises. Help me listen carefully and resist the urge to answer in anger. When I fall short, give me the humility to acknowledge it and make things right. You are my strength and my Redeemer. I place this day, my conversations, and the quiet meditations of my heart in Your hands. May they be acceptable in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, amen.

GTG - Many Plans, One Lasting Purpose

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture —Proverbs 19:20–21, KJV “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.” "Many Plans, One Lasting Purpose" Before the day gets busy, take a moment to consider what you are carrying into it. Perhaps you have a full schedule, a decision to make, or a plan you have quietly been hoping will work out. It is natural to think ahead and want things to go a certain way. These verses invite us to make room for something beyond our own understanding: God’s counsel. “Hear counsel, and receive instruction” asks something of us. We have to be willing to listen—and willing to let what we hear change us. That is not always easy, especially when we have already invested time, effort, and emotion in a particular direction. Sometimes we want reassurance more than instruction. We want someone to tell us our plan is right rather than help us see where it needs to change. But wisdom grows when we remain teachable. A loving correction, a truth in Scripture, or a thoughtful word from someone we trust may give us a reason to pause. We do not have to treat that pause as a setback. It can be an opportunity to reconsider before taking the next step. Then comes the steady reminder: “Nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.” We can make plans without demanding that every detail unfold our way. We can work diligently without pretending we can control the outcome. Our responsibility is to listen, learn, and act faithfully with the understanding we have. This morning, bring your plans to God honestly. Tell Him what you hope for—and where you are reluctant to change. Ask Him for the humility to receive instruction, not merely the comfort of having your own thoughts confirmed. You do not need to have every answer before the day begins. You can begin with a willing heart. Moment of Refection Is there an area of your life where you have been seeking agreement when you may need instruction? Sit with that question for a moment—not to criticize yourself, but to make room for an honest answer. Think about a decision, a relationship, or a project that has been occupying your mind. When you ask for advice, are you willing to hear something different from what you already believe? Or do you find yourself explaining your position until the other person agrees? It can be difficult to receive counsel when a plan matters deeply to us. We may have prayed over it, worked hard on it, and imagined what its success would look like. A suggestion to slow down or reconsider can feel like a rejection of all that effort. Yet you can care deeply about a plan and still remain teachable. You can listen carefully without accepting every opinion. The invitation is not to surrender your judgment to everyone around you, but to stop treating agreement as the only response worth hearing. Consider these questions as you pray: What outcome am I so attached to that I struggle to consider another direction?Has someone I trust offered counsel that I dismissed too quickly? What would it look like to listen without immediately defending myself? Is there one adjustment I can make today in response to instruction I have already received? You may not resolve everything this morning. Begin by naming the place where you feel most resistant. Bring that resistance into prayer as honestly as you bring your hopes. “Lord, I want this to work” is an honest prayer. So is, “Lord, I am afraid to change direction.” You do not have to hide either feeling behind words that sound more spiritual.

GTG - Let God Shape Your Desires

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Scripture —Psalm 37:4, KJV “Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” "Let God Shape Your Desires" Context Psalm 37:4 places our delight in the Lord before the fulfillment of our desires. That order invites us to consider not only what we want God to do, but also the place He holds in our hearts. We are encouraged to find our deepest joy in Him—not simply in the gifts we hope to receive. This verse invites a relationship, not a transaction. We come to God to know and love Him, trusting Him with the desires we carry. Devotional Thought Before the demands of this day capture your attention, take a moment to ask: “Lord, what is my heart reaching for?” Perhaps you are longing for an opportunity, healing in a relationship, direction for a decision, or the fulfillment of a dream. Bring those desires honestly before God. You do not have to hide your hopes to draw near to Him. But let your time with Him be more than a presentation of requests. Pause to enjoy His presence. Remember His goodness. Give thanks for the ways He has already sustained you. To delight in the Lord is to treasure Him—not merely what He can provide. As you make room for Him, allow Him to examine your ambitions, deepen your love, and reshape desires that may be leading you away from what matters most. This is not a promise that every wish will unfold exactly as you imagine. It is an invitation to place your heart in God’s hands. You can pursue your responsibilities and dreams without making their fulfillment the measure of His goodness. Begin this morning with an open heart: “Lord, here is what I desire. Help me desire You most.” Five Key Takeaways Make room for God before the day becomes crowded. Begin with prayer, Scripture, and gratitude rather than allowing your concerns to set the tone.Seek the Giver, not only His gifts. Let your relationship with God matter more than the outcome you are requesting.Bring your desires honestly before Him. Share your hopes, disappointments, and questions without pretending you have everything settled.Give God permission to reshape your heart. Ask Him to reveal which desires to nurture, which to surrender, and which to reconsider.Practice joy while you wait. Notice today’s reasons for gratitude instead of postponing all your joy until circumstances change.Prayer Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this new morning. Before I begin the work of this day, I turn my heart toward You. Teach me to delight in You—not simply in answered prayers, open doors, or fulfilled dreams. Help me treasure Your presence and recognize Your goodness in the ordinary moments of my life. You know the desires I carry, including those I struggle to put into words. I place them before You. Purify my motives, guide my decisions, and give me the courage to release anything that draws my heart away from You. Where I have become impatient, teach me to wait with trust. Where disappointment has made me guarded, help me pray honestly again. Let gratitude shape my attitude and love guide my actions. As I move through this day, help me pursue what matters with diligence while leaving the outcome in Your hands. Above all, let knowing You remain my greatest joy.
