    026 Sekhmet, the Shadow of Power, and Conscious Leadership

    Welcome This week, I’m exploring power, the shadow side of leadership, and what it means to step into sovereignty as a CEO. I share a personal story from Egypt that changed how I relate to power, and I talk about what this means for those of us wanting to lead in a new way. Episode Summary Power and leadership are complicated words. They’re often mixed up with control and abuse, which can make us hesitate to step into our own power. I see this in myself and in my clients: we either give our power away because we’re afraid of hurting others or we try to hold on too tightly and control everything. Neither approach feels good, and neither is sustainable. I talk about the need for a new kind of leadership, one that’s not about hierarchy, but about interdependence. We’re moving into an era where leading means knowing your own zone of genius and letting others do the same, so the business becomes a living ecosystem. It’s about having the courage to claim your authority, while also letting go of the need to control every detail. I share what happened for me in Egypt, sitting with Sekhmet and facing the shadow side of power, recognising places where I’ve misused power before, and realising that holding back out of guilt or fear doesn’t serve anyone. The message I received was that there’s nothing to be forgiven. All those experiences give us the wisdom to use power differently now. I share the patterns I see in myself and my clients around holding back our light, the blocks that keep us from shining, and why now is the time to show up in our full potency. Key Takeaways 💡 Two ways we cap our pillar of light:Limiting the light we let in: We subconsciously restrict how much energy and power we allow in, to avoid overwhelm.Limiting the light we radiate out: Even when we’ve done the work, there’s often a part of us still holding back, fearing what might happen if we’re fully seen.These patterns show up as fears around burnout, overextension, or not being able to hold more in our bodies or businesses.The three most common blocks I see:Throat space: Power gets stuck here, often linked to silencing the feminine voice.
