Behind the Cover — Episode 1: Behind the Cover

EPISODE SUMMARY Behind the Cover — Episode 1: Behind the Cover In the first episode of the new Behind the Cover series, Danny shares about receiving the unexpected news that a man connected to a church his family attended had died by suicide. From the outside, this man appeared to have many things going for him—a family, career, home, intelligence, and an active role serving in his church. His death became a painful reminder that we cannot always see what another person is carrying inside. Using 1 Samuel 16:7, Danny explores the difference between what people see on the outside and what God sees in the heart. This episode challenges us to judge less, listen more, check on the people around us, and create places where struggling people feel safe enough to say, “I'm not okay.” Main Takeaway You can see the cover of someone's life without knowing what's happening between the pages. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE Behind the Cover Read 1 Samuel 16:7 Galatians 6:2 Talk About It Why do we sometimes assume successful people are doing okay? How can church communities make it safer for people to admit they're struggling? What's the difference between judging someone's behavior and responding with compassion? Why is listening sometimes more helpful than immediately giving advice? Who in your life might need you to check on them this week? This Week's Challenge Choose one person this week and genuinely check on them. Don't stop at: “How are you?” Ask: “How are you really doing?” Then listen. Closing Prayer Father, help us look beyond outward appearances. Give us compassion for struggles we cannot see, wisdom to notice people who are hurting, and courage to be present when someone needs us. Help us carry one another's burdens and love people like Jesus. Amen.

Faith in the Waiting — Episode 3 Faith Before the Results

EPISODE SUMMARY Faith in the Waiting — Episode 3: Faith Before the Results In the final episode of the Faith in the Waiting series, Danny asks an important question: Can we trust God before we know how the story ends? While continuing to wait for more answers following his CT scan, Danny reflects on the difference between trusting God because we expect a certain outcome and trusting God regardless of the outcome. Through the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3, we're reminded that genuine faith can say, “God is able,” while also surrendering the outcome to Him. Sometimes God keeps us from the fire. Other times, He meets us in the middle of it. Whatever you're waiting on today, you don't have to wait for the answer before choosing faith. Main Takeaway Faith isn't believing I'm going to get the answer I want. Faith is believing that whatever the answer is, I won't face it without God. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE Faith Before the Results Read Daniel 3:16–18 Isaiah 41:10 Talk About It Why is it easier to trust God after receiving the answer we wanted? What do Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego teach us about faith? What's the difference between believing God can do something and demanding that He do it? Have you experienced a time when God didn't remove a difficulty but gave you strength through it? What result or answer are you currently waiting for? This Week's Challenge Finish this sentence each time fear begins taking over: “God, I don't know ____________, but I know You are with me.” Write it somewhere you'll see it throughout the week. Closing Prayer Father, we don't know what tomorrow holds, but we know You are already there. Help us trust You before we receive the answer and remember that whatever comes next, we will never face it alone. In Jesus'

Faith in the Waiting — Episode 2 When Fear Starts Talking

EPISODE SUMMARY Faith in the Waiting — Episode 2: When Fear Starts Talking In Episode 2 of the Faith in the Waiting series, Danny talks about what happens when unanswered questions turn into frightening “What if?” thoughts. While waiting for further testing after his CT scan, Danny realizes that nothing about his situation has changed—but his thoughts can quickly race toward outcomes that haven't happened. This episode explores the difference between facts, fear, and faith. Faith doesn't mean ignoring reality. It means refusing to let fear write the ending before we know the rest of the story. Through 2 Corinthians 10:5 and Philippians 4:6–7, we're reminded that we don't have to believe every thought that enters our minds. We can bring our fears to God and allow His peace to guard our hearts and minds while we wait. Main takeaway: Fear fills in the blanks with the worst possibility. Faith leaves the blanks in God's hands. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE When Fear Starts Talking Read 2 Corinthians 10:5 Philippians 4:6–7 Talk About It What “What if?” thoughts are hardest for you to let go? How can fear make a possibility feel like a certainty? What's the difference between preparing wisely and worrying? How can prayer help guard our thoughts while we're waiting? What situation do you need to place back into God's hands today? This Week's Challenge When worry starts building, stop and ask: What are the facts? What is fear adding? What does my faith tell me? Then pray about what you cannot control. Closing Prayer God, help us recognize when fear is adding things to our story that haven't happened. Guard our hearts and minds, and help us trust You with what we cannot control. Amen.

Faith in the Waiting — Episode 1 When Faith Gets Tested

EPISODE SUMMARY Faith in the Waiting — Episode 1: When Faith Gets Tested In Episode 1 of the Faith in the Waiting series, Danny shares a personal experience of receiving CT results that led to the need for an MRI. With a family history that naturally makes the waiting difficult, Danny faces a choice many of us understand: allow fear to take control or trust God while the answers are still unknown. This episode explores what biblical faith looks like when life becomes uncertain. Faith isn't pretending fear doesn't exist or assuming everything will happen exactly as we hope. It's choosing to trust that whatever tomorrow brings, God will be there. Main Scripture: Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) Main takeaway: Don't borrow tomorrow's fear when God has given you grace for today. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE When Faith Gets Tested Read: Hebrews 11:1 Talk About It Why is trusting God sometimes harder when the situation becomes personal? What kinds of “What if?” thoughts tend to steal our peace? Does experiencing fear mean we don't have faith? Why or why not? What's the difference between trusting God and simply expecting God to give us the outcome we want? What are you waiting on right now that you need to place back into God's hands? This Week's Challenge When fear starts asking “What if?”, answer: “Whatever happens, God will be with me.” Closing Prayer God, help us trust You with the things we cannot control. Give us peace while we wait and faith when we cannot see what comes next. Amen.

When the Season Changes Episode 3: “New Season, New Adventures”

EPISODE SUMMARY When the Season Changes — Episode 3: “New Season, New Adventures” As fall arrives, it brings new routines, new responsibilities, and new opportunities for making memories. For Danny and his family, one of those traditions is their annual trip to the corn maze. And a corn maze provides a powerful picture of faith: you can't see the entire path from where you're standing, but you can keep taking the next step. In the final episode of “When the Season Changes,” Danny encourages listeners to stop fearing everything they can't see and begin trusting God with what's ahead. Through Proverbs 3:5–6 and Psalm 119:105, we're reminded that God doesn't always reveal the entire journey—sometimes He simply gives us enough light for the next step. You don't have to know what the next season holds when you know Who is walking into it with you. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE Key Scriptures Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Talk About It What are you looking forward to in your next season? Why do we sometimes want God to show us the entire plan? How is walking with God similar to navigating a maze? Where do you need to trust God with your next step? Looking back, where have you seen God's faithfulness in previous seasons? This Week's Challenge Instead of asking God to show you everything that's ahead, pray: “God, I don't need to see the entire path. Show me my next step, and give me the faith to take it.”

WHEN THE SEASON CHANGES Episode 1: “You Can Feel the Change”

EPISODE SUMMARY When the Season Changes — Episode 1: “You Can Feel the Change” Summer is ending and fall is beginning. The cooler air, shorter days, fading gardens, and changing leaves remind us that seasons don't stay the same forever. The same is true in our lives. In this episode, Danny shares how he's ready for the change from a busy, humid summer into fall and the new adventures that will come with it. Through Ecclesiastes 3:1 and Hebrews 13:8, we're reminded that while the seasons of life continually change, Jesus remains the same. Sometimes an ending doesn't mean something went wrong. It may simply mean the season has changed. The season may be changing, but the God who walks with you through it hasn't changed. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE Scripture Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Talk About It What signs tell you that fall is arriving? What season of life do you feel you're in right now? Why can change be difficult even when it's good? Have you ever looked back and realized God was preparing you for something new? What might God be asking you to trust Him with in this season? This Week's Challenge Take a few quiet minutes this week and pray: “God, help me recognize what You're doing in this season and help me trust You with what comes next.”

Series: Hiding in Plain Sight Episode 3: Faithful to the End

📝 EPISODE SUMMARY Series: Hiding in Plain Sight — Episode 3: Faithful to the End In the final episode of the Hiding in Plain Sight series, Danny reflects on one of the biggest questions throughout the reality game show he and his wife watched: Who can you trust? The Faithfuls were constantly trying to determine who was telling the truth. Sometimes they trusted a Traitor, while other times they wrongly suspected someone who was Faithful. Life can feel the same way. People can disappoint us, circumstances can confuse us, and even our own feelings can sometimes lead us in the wrong direction. We don't always see the whole picture—but God does. This episode reminds us that we don't have to understand everything in order to trust God. When we don't know what tomorrow holds, we can remain faithful to the One who does. We may not know the whole story, but we can trust the One who does. God is faithful to the end. 📖 SMALL GROUP COMPANION GUIDE Hiding in Plain Sight Episode 3: Faithful to the End Key Scriptures Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust in the Lord with all your heart rather than depending only on your own understanding. Lamentations 3:22–23 — God's mercies are new every morning, and great is His faithfulness. Main Thought We don't have to understand everything before we trust God. People may disappoint us. Our circumstances may confuse us. Our feelings may change. But God's character remains the same. When we cannot see the whole picture, we can trust the One who can. Discussion Questions Why can trusting God be difficult when we don't understand what is happening? Have you ever trusted someone or something and later discovered you were wrong? What does Proverbs 3:5–6 teach us about trusting God? Can you remember a difficult season where you later looked back and recognized God's faithfulness? What situation in your life right now requires you to trust God without having all the answers? What does being “faithful to the end” look like in everyday life? 🛠️ Weekly Challenge Think about one situation you're currently trying to figure out. Instead of trying to have every answer, pray: “God, I don't understand everything that's happening, but I trust You.” Then stay faithful in what you already know to do. Keep praying. Keep seeking. Keep loving. Keep forgiving. Keep showing up. And keep trusting. 🙏 Closing Prayer God, Thank You for being faithful even when we don't understand what You are doing. Help us trust You when the road ahead isn't clear. When people disappoint us, circumstances confuse us, or fear causes us to question what comes next, remind us that You see the entire picture. Give us strength to keep praying, believing, walking, and trusting. Help us remain faithful to You through every season of our lives. Thank You for never leaving us and for being faithful to the end. In Jesus' name, Amen.
