Keith & Clay

Just two guys talking about business, life, and whatever else comes up. Keith Heavilin and Clay Blair share their experiences, tell some stories, and probably go off on a few tangents along the way. No script, just real conversations with a little humor thrown in.

My Kids Met a Bear, Then American Airlines Broke Me

Paid status is a scam and Keith has receipts. 🔥 He dropped 500 bucks a year on the fancy card, got stranded overnight in Dallas with no bags, four people, and an American Airlines agent whose opening move was "how in the world do you think we could possibly know where your bag is?" Keith's rebuttal, that there are not in fact millions of people in that airport, so there are not millions of bags, is the kind of argument you only make when you're one comment away from saying something you'd regret in front of your kid. 🤦 Before all that, though: East Tennessee. Keith took the family up a mountain in a side-by-side, went creek-jumping on bus-sized boulders like he did as a kid, hung upside down off a zip line 250 feet in the air doing something called the Spider-Man, and watched a black bear raid a trash can while tourists walked past it from 20 feet away completely oblivious. 😂 Annabelle got the airbrushed Gatlinburg t-shirt to prove it, "I survived a bear encounter," which is only slightly less dramatic than what actually happened. Clay's over here hooking up trailers, delivering lawnmowers, and casually describing himself as an "esteemed" alumnus, which Keith refuses to let go. There's also a cheesecake debate, a hard truth about what $20 of cream cheese does to your profit margins, and the moment Keith stood on a rock over a waterfall and heard his own brain say you are not in your 20s anymore. He listened. Mostly. Somewhere between the bear, the baggage claim, and a daughter turning 13 in fifteen days, one of these guys admits he's much closer to 60 than he'd like, then immediately tries to change the subject. 😅

Would You Rather Fight City Hall or a Yellowstone Buffalo?

Somehow, a conversation about summer vacation turns into City Hall drama, charging buffalo, questionable wildlife decisions, and a raccoon dismantling a company laptop. 😂 Keith is getting ready to drag the family through an aggressively packed Smoky Mountains itinerary, while Clay is reminded that maybe he should finally take Jamie to the Alamo—the place he's been telling her "burned down." Back home, Corpus Christi finally has water moving in the right direction, but Keith's frustration with the City Council definitely hasn't gone anywhere. 💧 Between rising lake levels, desalination arguments, political maneuvering, and Clay's beautifully simple ballot proposal, "Do you want water? Yes? No." The local update quickly becomes another reminder of how TexTenn somehow keeps turning into Keith vs. City Hall. And somehow, that's still not the wildest part. Clay recalls casually wandering within 50 yards of Yellowstone buffalo before realizing those giant fuzzy tanks can absolutely ruin your day. From there, the animal stories spiral: badgers fighting dogs, Penelope the raccoon destroying a brand-new company laptop, Paco the hedgehog meeting an unfortunate end in his food bowl, full-grown mail-order ducks, and Keith buying a ball python because he needed a solution for leftover biology-class mice. 🤦‍♂️ By the time they're done, Clay has rejected a political career, Keith has confessed to an alarming number of questionable pet decisions, and a Yellowstone buffalo somehow looks like the more reasonable opponent. Honestly, take the buffalo.
