🚨 PADRES NEWS! Today, Andrew McFarland breaks down the San Diego Padres' 2026-27 free agent class after Michael King declined his player option and will become a free agent, per Jon Heyman. Nick Pivetta's $14 million club option is still undecided, and Adrian Morejon, Walker Buehler, Casey Mize, Robbie Ray, Jason Adam, Ty France and Ramon Laureano are among the Padres headed to the market. Padres Digest looks at who is a free agent, who the Padres should re-sign, who they could let go, and what the roster looks like without them. ⚾ THE BIG NAMES: KING, PIVETTA AND MOREJON Michael King declined his player option, and Robert Murray reports both sides are open to a reunion. NBC Sports projects a five-year, $140 million contract for King (a projection, not a report of an offer). Pivetta has a $14 million club option, and A.J. Preller called picking it up the straightforward move. Murray also reports a bidding war is coming for Morejon. Will the Padres bring King back? Should they pick up Pivetta's option? How much is Morejon worth? ⚾ THE OTHER NAMES: BUEHLER, MIZE, RAY, ADAM, FRANCE, LAUREANO Walker Buehler, Casey Mize, Robbie Ray, Jason Adam, Ty France, Ramon Laureano, Austin Hays and Luis Rengifo are all set to hit free agency, and Lucas Giolito, Griffin Canning and Miguel Andujar hold mutual options. MLB Trade Rumors describes Buehler as a fourth or fifth starter option and reports Rengifo's ACL recovery could last into June. Who is worth keeping, and who is a depth piece? ⚾ WHAT THE PADRES LOOK LIKE WITHOUT THEM If every free agent walks, the Padres lose most of their rotation, top relievers and several bats. Preller said Joe Musgrove might not be a starter and that Yu Darvish's status is still open. Kevin Acee reports the Padres will be more proactive this winter. Where are the biggest holes? ⚾ WHO TO SIGN AND RE-SIGN Preller said the Padres are hoping Pivetta wants to be part of the puzzle. Should the Padres prioritize King, Morejon, or pick up Pivetta and spend elsewhere? 🔥 PADRES NEWS & RUMORS COVERED: Padres free agents 2026 Padres free agency Michael King declines player option Michael King free agent Michael King Padres reunion Nick Pivetta club option Nick Pivetta Padres Adrian Morejon free agent Walker Buehler free agent Casey Mize free agent Robbie Ray free agent Jason Adam free agent Ty France Padres Ramon Laureano Padres Padres offseason 2026 Padres news today 💬 PADRES FANS: Who should the Padres prioritize this offseason, King, Morejon, or Pivetta?
