During Covid, every millennial on God’s Green Earth started a podcast. Some managed to monetize and quit their jobs, spurting out 20 minutes of content (plus ads) every week. The others just got bored with themselves and quit, sometimes quite suddenly.

Excellent reporting and easy format to follow. This episode really hits hard for me. This is almost a mirror story to my family's life in the 70's and 80's. My older brother was held in captivity in his bedroom until he finally escaped for his final time at 15yrs of age. He was isolated 14 hours a day. We siblings had to experience horrific abuse , physical and mental torture. We had to live as if he didn't exist. We were a prominent family in our community. As adults, none of us as siblings can communicate with each other because it's too painful and irreparable damage is done. We are all in our 60's now and we lead separate lives out of mental necessity. Our relatives understood what we were going through but it was a different time. Present day is very different from back then. 2 out of 4 of us as siblings were able to lead normal lives aside from our inner turmoil and memories which haunt us every second of every day. These stories are real and it hurts to the core. Our mother was never accused or punished in any way. Our father felt it was actually safer to keep bis marriage and us in our home because he could at least monitor the state of our home life. It had to have been torture for him as well being a very successful family physician. Such a complicated and impossible situation. We had two lives. An outside persona and the reality behind closed doors. I can see that my older brother is doing "well" from Facebook posts and that brings me some comfort but I know he must be suffering with his memories as well since he was the one who had to experience the terror of his early life. I only ask that listeners believe this actually happens and it causes a lifetime of pain that never goes away.
