LED: Leadership w/ Ed

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a guest on Ed McGill’s LED Podcast, and now I’m a listener! What makes this podcast stand out is Ed’s down-to-earth style and his ability to draw out the stories and leadership lessons from accomplished leaders. Most importantly, I always walk away inspired and with practical strategies I can immediately apply—to all aspects of life. I highly recommend this podcast!

Promotion timing was a great topic brought up by Doug. This is a topic highly relevant for young high performers, particularly in the professional services space. Young, and even experienced, staff mistakenly pursue performance as the end goal, tying career and job satisfaction to promotions and pay. In reality, it is best to pursue growth. It is not beneficial to be promoted too early at a young age, as additional time in a roll allows one to develop maturity, perspective and additional skills and experiences. Ultimately, the most successful people are those who pursue growth and are constant learning. Then downstream from that, promotions and pay will come at the right timing when one is ready and confident to take on the new role.
