    We’re Better Together: What Unity Really Means

    What does it actually mean to live in unity? Turns out, kids have some pretty great answers. In this week’s children’s sermon, Rev. Madeline explores a line from the Psalms: “How good and pleasant it is to live in unity.” Together, the kids discover that unity isn’t about everyone being exactly the same. It’s about choosing kindness, respect, gratitude, and connection—even when getting along isn’t easy. And they also name the things that pull us apart: ignoring people, bullying, fighting, and leaving others out. With a new school year beginning, there’s a simple challenge for all of us: Remember that everyone you meet is one of God’s children. The new kid. The kid who annoys you. The person who’s different from you. Even the person you’re having a hard time getting along with. You don’t have to be best friends with everyone. But you can choose to be kind. You can include someone. You can listen. You can help. Because every small choice that brings people together matters.     Big Feelings, Brave Steps: Jesus Goes With You to School

    The first day of school can bring ALL the feelings. 🎒 You might be excited to see your friends. You might be nervous about a new class. You might wonder who you’ll sit with, whether people will be nice, or what this year is going to be like. And guess what? It’s okay to have big feelings when you’re doing something new. In this children’s sermon, Mother Paige talks with the kids about heading back to school and the story of Peter doing something he had never done before: stepping out of the boat and walking toward Jesus on the water. Peter was brave—but then he got scared and wobbly. And Jesus didn’t leave him. Jesus reached out and helped him. That’s the big idea for this school year: You don’t have to know exactly what’s going to happen. You just have to remember who goes with you. As St. Peter’s blesses backpacks and backpack tags for the new school year, kids are invited to make their backpacks a daily reminder: 🎒 Excited? Give it to God.😬 Nervous? Give it to God.😊 Happy?
