Juicy Crimes with Heather McDonald

What a mess of an interview. He sounds like he’s still hurt and lost.

Heather has always had a fan girl approach to true crime, so the guests, Matt Murphy, Dr. Drew, and attorney, Shannon Goldstein are able to anchor the facts of the case using scientific principals from their chosen fields of expertise. They compliment each other in an entertaining and provocative way.

As of this review I have listened to the 4 episodes covering Lindsay Clancy starting with Shannon and ending with Shannon on 8/26/2026, so this is a review of these episodes. The problem I have is when Heather brought on Taylor Vaughn to talk about the conspiracy theories surrounding the case. Taylor’s credentials are she is an Emmy winning writer and teaches something in tv writing. She starts by saying “In my opinion the best tv writers are in some way conspiracy theorists because what you are doing is you are coming up with ideas from a high level of all the different motives and all the different players, so if you have the ability to see not just what was happening within the family but what’s happening within the town and what’s happening within the system and you can zoom out, you see things in a more conspiratorial way”. Ok I hear some of that, but you just admitted you’re like a conspiracy theorist so credibility is out the window. Also this is not a “story” to consume like a Ryan Murphy show at this point, this is an ongoing trial that is being affected by the people gossiping about it. Heather through multiple episodes says when talking about cases [wouldn’t this make a good story if this happened] as if being a good story means what she said was a fact rather than it sounds like a soap opera. Also Taylor admits her dad (who litigates civil suits) says [come on Taylor she did it]. So my issue is her and Heather’s questions have time and time again been debunked by people with actual credibility (listen to Matt and Shannon’s episodes), but they keep asking questions after answers are given. At what point will they realize this is similar to a 5 year old asking Why? after every explanation and they’re never going to be satisfied? This is dangerous because I have friends listening to this podcast and taking it as truth. I think if you want to gossip in a private setting that’s fine, but this is public and you are influencing people’s opinions. You have a duty to fact check more than a tik toker “report”. Heather’s podcast Juicy Scoop is very fun, but the things she’s talking about here are very serious and we spend more time talking about a man rather than the real issue, postpartum psychosis.

Matt Murphy is so smart and he and Heather have amazing chemistry. He’s my favorite Heather guest next to Chris and B and J.
