Deschooling Explained: What We Lost When Schools Stopped Teaching the Truth

How did America produce generations of highly literate, self-educated citizens — without a centralized education system? And why are so many parents now choosing homeschooling and deschooling their children after watching what government schools have become? In this episode of Unmasking Government Schools, Sheri Few sits down with Janae Daniels, former middle school teacher, homeschooling mom, independent researcher, and host of the School to Homeschool podcast, to explore the forgotten history of American education and why so many families are rediscovering time-tested methods of learning. In this episode: 📚 How early Americans achieved extraordinary literacy before compulsory government schooling 📖 Why Janae believes vintage textbooks like the McGuffey Readers and Ray’s Arithmetic produced stronger readers, thinkers, and problem-solvers than many modern curricula 🏡 What “deschooling” really means, and why parents leaving government schools often need to rethink what learning actually looks like 🎓 How Janae’s own children flourished through self-directed learning, internships, museums, literature, and real-world experiences instead of rigid classroom routines ⚖️ Why she believes the next battle for educational freedom will center on protecting homeschooling from increasing government regulation Resources & Links: Learn more about Janae Daniels and the School to Homeschool podcast: schooltohomeschool.com Learn more about USPIE: uspie.org Subscribe to Unmasking Government Schools for weekly conversations exposing what’s happening in American education and equipping parents to reclaim their children’s future.

Parental Rights: The Truth About Gender Dysphoria & Childhood Trauma

Are conversion therapy bans actually protecting children — or silencing the truth? In this episode of Unmasking Government Schools, host Sheri Few sits down with Mike Stenhouse, CEO of the Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity, to expose the legal and moral crisis behind conversion therapy bans — and what they really mean for parental rights and free speech. Stenhouse makes the case that these laws don't protect minors — they enforce a narrative that denies biological truth, silences counselors, and deepens childhood trauma in already-vulnerable youth. This episode covers: - Why the Supreme Court's recent Title IX ruling (and Justice Clarence Thomas's words) exposes the legal fragility of gender-identity mandates - The connection between childhood trauma — especially sexual abuse — and gender dysphoria in youth - How state laws requiring "affirmation-only" counseling violate First Amendment rights and parental consent - The term "dysphoric youth" and why language matters in this fight - Mike Stenhouse's recommendation for future guest Dr. Michael Menard, whose peer-reviewed research links adverse childhood events to long-term mental health crises Resources & Links: Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity: rifreedom.org USPIE.org: uspie.org 📌 Subscribe to Unmasking Government Schools for weekly investigations into what's really happening inside America's education system.#ParentalRights #UnmaskingGovernmentSchools #EducationReform #MikeStenhouse #GenderDysphoria
