    🌾‘IN THE FIELD’ — Intimidation | What Impresses You Has the Power to Intimidate You

    Coming from Sealy, Texas, I share a deeply personal experience from January 2025, when my highly developed abilities as a teacher completely failed me. What followed was a profound exposure of my performance-based flesh, and the discovery of how the power of sin can operate through the very things we have come to rely upon. No amount of preparation could have prevented what the Father was exposing. In Acts 4, we find Peter and John standing before the religious authorities with a confidence they could never have produced from themselves. The same Peter who had denied Jesus is now standing before them with the Life of the indwelling Christ as his source. What impresses you has the power to intimidate you, and the enemy will use that intimidation to silence the gospel that produces sons. As the new man matures, he steps forward in the confidence of Christ Himself. 1.     In the final episode of What Is He Building?, we come to the words of Jesus: “A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” What is the Father building, and what kind of sons is He preparing for the nations? We look at the freedom that comes as the Father breaks our dependency on other people, the yoke of the Son, and the way He joins sons together to express the Life of Christ. From Matthew 5 to the City John saw in Revelation, the invitation is to consider what it means for the glory of God — Christ in you, the hope of glory — to be seen through His people.     149 What Is He Building? #11 - ‘I Will Build My Ekklesia’

    In this episode of What Is He Building?, we come to the words of Jesus in Matthew 16: “I WILL BUILD MY EKKLESIA.” What did He mean by ekklesia, and is what we call church today actually what He said He would build? We look at how this word was used, the people who belong to Christ, and the difference between what man can build from his own knowledge and abilities and what Jesus Himself is building. In Ephesians 3, Paul tells us that the Father is making known His many-sided wisdom THROUGH HIS EKKLESIA, according to His eternal purpose. In Ephesians 2, Jesus has created ONE NEW MAN IN HIMSELF, and these sons are being built together as the Father’s dwelling place, with Christ as the chief Cornerstone. Peter calls us living stones, and Paul describes the Body receiving its supply from Christ as Head. We finish with Jesus’ words about a CITY SET ON A HILL, and the questions of the City Abraham was looking for and the City John saw when he was shown the Bride. 1. What happens when the Christian life we've been trying so hard to make work begins to fail? In this episode of What Is He Building?, we're dealing with two words: SEPARATION and FAILURE. The power of sin keeps believers living as though they're separated from the Father, while self works harder to earn what is already ours in Christ. But what if the failure of self is one of the greatest gifts the Father can give to a maturing son? Through my own experience and Peter's failure, we look at how the Father exposes our independence so that we might discover Christ Himself as our Life.
