Season 3, Episode 46: From Shame to Love with Jessica Fern and David Cooley

Welcome to Season THREE of Both Can Be True with Nona!! After an unexpected hiatus, I am BACK—and I truly cannot think of a better conversation to begin this new season. This week, I’m joined by Jessica Fern and David Cooley, authors of Transforming the Shame Triangle: From Shame to Love Using Parts Work. And let me just say: when they reached out about coming onto the podcast, I absolutely geeked out. Jessica is also the author of Polysecure, a book I have loved, recommended, talked about, and returned to again and again, and together Jessica and David wrote Polywise. So yes, having them sitting across from me for this conversation was A MOMENT. We talk about shame—not as something we need to get rid of or another part of ourselves we need to “fix,” but as something we can begin to understand differently. Jessica and David unpack the Shame Triangle, the different ways shame can show up in our relationships and within ourselves, and how parts work can help us move from shame toward greater compassion, connection, curiosity, and love. This conversation is such a beautiful reminder that healing does not require us to reject the parts of ourselves we find inconvenient, messy, reactive, protective, or hard to understand. Sometimes the way through is actually learning to turn toward those parts with curiosity instead. You can learn more about Jessica, her books, courses, and work at JessicaFern.com and find her on Instagram at @jessicafern411. You can learn more about David and his work at Restorative Relationship Conversations and connect with him on Instagram at @rrconversations. And while you’re here… COME PLAY WITH ME!! 🌈 THE PLAYGROUND 🌈 The Playground is my 33-day healing playground where we’re doing personal growth a little differently: with curiosity, play, nervous system care, laughter, self-trust, storytelling, brain science, and a whole lot less pressure to constantly be “working on ourselves.” You’ll get a daily 15–30 minute audio from me inside our private Telegram community as we explore boundaries, people-pleasing, perfectionism, intuition, relationships, confidence, identity, inner-child work, and what it actually looks like to become MORE YOU. No homework. No gold stars. No perfect healing required. Just come as you are. Come join The Playground And if you’ve been wanting to learn more about yourself through Human Design or receive some intuitive guidance, I now have multiple Human Design readings—including different types of readings for different seasons, relationships, and needs—as well as Tarot + Oracle readings permanently available in the Both Can Be True shop. 43. Unraveling Well: Identity, Burnout & the Body's Way Home

Both Can Be True with Nona | feat. Natasha Ramlall What if burnout isn't the problem — it's the signal? In this episode, Nona sits down with embodiment coach Natasha Ramlall for a conversation that goes beneath the surface of what high-achieving women are actually experiencing. We talk a lot about burnout, but rarely do we talk about what's underneath it: identity rupture, disembodiment, and the cost of building a life entirely in your head while your body quietly checks out. Natasha brings over 25 years of experience in adult education and a deeply personal 19-year career pivot that became the foundation of her work as an Embodied Integration Coach. Her framework, Grounded Expansion, offers women a somatic — not just mental — path through major life transitions. In this episode, we explore: Why "positive thinking" fails when your nervous system doesn't feel safeWhat identity rupture actually looks like in high-achieving women's bodiesThe difference between a burnout you push through and one that's asking you to become someone newWhy the "disorientation phase" of a major life pivot isn't a breakdown — it's a doorwayHow to build your next chapter on somatic safety rather than sheer willpowerThis one is for the woman who has achieved so much and still feels like something is missing. The one who keeps doing the mindset work and wondering why she still feels so far from herself. Both things can be true: you can be brilliant and burned out. Capable and coming undone. And unraveling well — with support, with your body, with intention — might be exactly what's next. Free Resource from Natasha: If this episode lands for you, Natasha is offering her Identity Rupture Safety Pulse — a free 20-minute guided resourcing practice designed to help you find a pocket of internal safety when your old identity is gone and the new one hasn't arrived yet. 39. The Shame of Abundance: Breaking the Patriarchal Script Around Women and Wealth

Both Can Be True returns with the radiant Stefanie Caponi — author of Guided Tarot; Guided Astrology & Tarot for Manifestation: Attract Your Dream Life Through Shadow Work, Visualization and Writing Love Letters to the Universe and the magic behind @moonvoidtarot — for one of the most honest, fiery, and soul-stirring conversations this podcast has ever held. This one goes deep. Nona and Stefanie pull back the curtain on what it actually means to run a spiritual business when the world is on fire — and they don't stop there. They wade straight into the patriarchal conditioning that has taught women to feel guilty for wanting wealth, to shrink instead of expand, and to compete with each other instead of rise together. They name the shame. They name the guilt. And then they light it on fire. From the page-turning permission slips found in Money Loves Me by Farah Orths and We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers, to the very real fear that lives in the body when a woman dares to step fully into her power — this conversation is about what becomes possible when women with strong hearts and unshakeable integrity accumulate wealth and use it to change the world. Because the narrative about what people do with money and power? Women like us are here to rewrite it. This isn't about bypassing the hard stuff. It's about holding all of it — the grief, the guilt, the calling, and the coins — and choosing to become the truest, most aligned version of yourself anyway. Both can be true. The world needs saving. And it needs you paid, powerful, and showing up fully.
