When Someone Tells You To Calm Down

Send us Fan Mail Recording from Revelstoke, BC, with Bailey Boo by her side, Tara Jo opens this episode with an honesty, she's in the middle of one of the hardest weeks of her life, and she's bringing you into it. With the full moon energy fresh and Mercury retrograde underway, Tara Jo shares what's been unfolding with a family member's health, the eerie echoes of her brother Cory's story, and what she's been learning in real time about how we show up for each other (and ourselves) when everything feels like too much. This episode is about the one thing that either makes or breaks a relationship in a crisis moment: how you respond when someone you love is in emotional distress. Tara Jo digs into why "calm down" is one of the most damaging things you can say to someone who's overwhelmed, not because the person saying it doesn't care, but because most of us were never taught what it actually looks like to hold space. She talks about nervous system capacity, why other people's inability to sit with your big emotions is not your problem, and how to find your footing again after a moment where you felt unseen. You'll also hear about the somatic practices she's been leaning into this week, walking in nature, EFT, getting her senses grounded, and why she created the Walk and Talk Somatic Summer Series from exactly this kind of moment. This one is for the woman who's been told she's too much. It's also for the person who wants to show up better but doesn't know how. In this episode: Why telling someone to calm down activates them further (and what it triggers in the body)How to actually support someone in emotional distress, including the one question that changes everythingThe difference between acute overwhelm and trauma responses that keep replayingHow to come back into your own energy after feeling dismissed or unheardWhat Tara Jo does when her mind starts spiralling, and the tools she reaches for Mentioned in this episode: The Walk and Talk Somatic Summer Series, a guided movement and mindfulness audio experience for when you need to process on your feet. When Life Stacks on You: Coming Back to Your Body in the Middle of Everything

Send us Fan Mail What happens when life stacks on you, the grief, the health diagnoses, the relationships that finally had to end, and you've drifted so far outside yourself you don't know how to come back?  In this episode, Tara Jo gets personal. She shares what it's been like navigating the loss of her brother, a severe concussion, mold toxicity, MCAS, lupus, and more, not as a badge of honour, but as an invitation to give yourself some grace if you've been carrying more than you realize. Tara Jo also walks you through a live body scan practice, something she does with her clients inside the Divine Love Healing Collective, so you can start to hear what your body has actually been trying to tell you. Not to fix it or push through it, just to listen. In this episode: Why transitions, the expected ones and the ones that blindside you, can knock you off your path, and why that's not always a bad thingWhat it means to ride the wave of your nervous system versus getting swept under itWhy calm 24/7 is actually kind of a myth, and what regulation really looks likeHow to know when your body needs rest versus when it's stuck in freezeThe one thing that has made the biggest difference in Tara Jo's own healing journeyThere's also a full guided body scan meditation in this episode. If you're somewhere you can close your eyes, do it along with her, and if you're driving, save it for later. If anything comes up for you, Tara Jo would love to hear about it. What Lights You Up?

Send us Fan Mail Getting Curious About Life Again….. Tara Jo is back on the farm with Bailey Boo and this time there’s a mystery bird stealing the show. This episode picks up where the last one left off. If the first one was about navigating the hard stuff, this one is about what’s on the other side of it — curiosity. Not the self-help version of it. The real kind. The kind that lights something up in your body before your brain can talk you out of it. TJ talks about what happens physically when you let yourself get genuinely curious — about a bird in a field, a vacation you haven’t booked yet, a dream someone told you was ridiculous. And why that feeling, however small, is actually the pathway back to yourself. She also talks about the people in your life who hand you their fear every time you get excited about something. And how that’s theirs to carry, not yours. This one’s grounding and a little bit magic. Just like the farm. When You Don’t Recognize Yourself Anymore

Send us Fan Mail Find your way back home.  Recorded from the family farm in Saskatchewan, birds, wind, and all, Tara Jo woke up thinking about transitions. Health. Grief. Loss. The kind of stuff that piles up until you don’t really recognize yourself anymore.  Until finding yourself again feels like its own full-time job. So she hit record and just started talking. This episode is about choice.  Choice in the things already in your toolbox that you’ve stopped reaching for. Using your voice when you feel like nobody’s listening anyway. Shaking your body out behind the barn when no one’s watching. Asking for help when you don’t even know what you need yet. TJ’s been navigating her own hard season lately, and she’s not pretending otherwise. If something in your life has been feeling off and you can’t quite name it, this one’s for you. What If Your Body Already Knows?

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, Tara Jo is getting ready to travel back to Saskatchewan and noticing everything that comes with going home. Grief, memory, family dynamics, and old experiences start to surface — including past trauma, advocacy for her brother, and moments that have stayed in her body long after they happened. As she prepares for the trip, she shares what it feels like to be in a big decision-making season where the mind wants clarity, but the body is holding a different kind of truth. This episode explores what it’s like to navigate grief and emotional healing while also paying attention to nervous system responses, intuition vs overthinking, and the signals the body gives when something feels safe or not safe. Tara reflects on: grief and family lossgoing back to places tied to emotional memorynervous system responses and body awarenessintuition vs fear when making decisionsoverthinking and mental loopslearning to trust the body’s signals over mental pressureIf you’ve ever felt pulled in one direction but your body didn’t fully agree, or if going home brings up more than you expected, this conversation will meet you there. How Are You…. Really?

Send us Fan Mail This episode is a quiet invitation to come back to yourself. Tara Jo sits down for an honest conversation about the moments we ignore our inner world while trying to keep up with everyday life. The constant noise. The pressure to keep going. The subtle ways our bodies and emotions try to get our attention long before we finally slow down enough to listen. Throughout this episode, Tara speaks about: checking in with yourself in simple, practical waysnoticing the messages behind exhaustion, irritation, anxiety, and disconnectthe patterns many of us learned growing up around staying quiet, over-performing, or disconnecting from our needsunderstanding nervous system responses without shamelearning how to recognize when you’ve left yourself emotionally, mentally, or physicallycreating small moments of pause that help you reconnect to what you actually needShe also opens up about the deeper intention behind the Divine Love Healing Collective and why consistent support, community, and self-awareness can create meaningful shifts over time. This conversation feels less like a lesson and more like sitting beside someone who is reminding you that you’re allowed to slow down, breathe, and pay attention to yourself again. Minimum Effort, Maximum Satisfaction: The Art of Becoming Unfuckwithable with Kyla Derkach

Send us Fan Mail Tara Jo sits down with Kyla Derkach, astrology and human design guide and founder of Hatha Astro, for a conversation that goes deeper than chart readings and profile lines. Kyla has been working with astrology since she was nine years old, has a background in business and wine sales, packed up her life in 2017 and moved to Spain alone without speaking the language, and built Hatha Astro out of a decade-long post-traumatic stress experience. She is known for somatic deconditioning and nervous system-led identity work, and her philosophy is simple: minimum effort, maximum satisfaction. This is a conversation about what it actually takes to come back to yourself, not through more information, more studying, or more strategy, but through your body. In this episode: Why knowing your human design type isn't enough and what has to happen in the body before any of it can landThe gap Kyla noticed in the human design and astrology space that led her to create UnfuckwithableWhat somatic deconditioning actually is and why nervous system work is nothing like "calming yourself down."How Tara Jo has been using Unfuckwithable at bedtime to stop the spiral before it starts, and what she's noticed sinceWhy Tara Jo's car accident took away her ability to access her intuition completely, and how getting into the body was the thing that finally brought it backThe real meaning behind minimum effort, maximum satisfaction, and why it has nothing to do with being lazyWhat it means to be a projector who guides energy rather than getting lost in it, and why Tara Jo's containers feel the way they doWhy the only way to deal with the pain is the actual painKyla's current offerings, including Unfuckwithable, Smoke and Mirrors for profile 2s and 5s, and Prodigy, her 10-month deep deconditioning container Connect with Kyla: FREE: Unfuckwithable Deconditioning Guides: https://hathaastro.com/deconditioning-guides Human Design Type Somatic Deconditioning Meditations: https://hathaastro.com/deconditioning-meditations WEBSITE: https://hathaastro.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/hatha.astro/?hl=en Support the show Thank you for tuning in to the Love Your Journey podcast! 💖  If this episode spoke to your heart, I’d love it if you shared it with someone who needs a little magic today.
