Somewhere beyond the respectable edges of the Thirteen Star Systems, where sensible people rarely travel and insurance companies refuse to return calls there flies a ship. Not a particularly elegant ship not a particularly legal ship either & certainly not a ship you would voluntarily board after reading its most recent  maintenance history. ​Its name is The Mongoose a battered overpowered illegally modified freighter with enough hidden armoury to invade a small moon & enough unresolved mechanical problems to make any Hyper Space engineer reconsider their chosen career. Aboard this magnificent flying violation of safety regulations lives a collection of individuals known as... THE ZONE WARRIORS HEROES technically CRIMINALS frequently IDIOTS lets not get distracted by terminology​ They steal from dictators, embarrass tyrants & destroy expensive Dominion property with an enthusiasm best described as 'bordering on recreational'. They rarely follow orders, occasionally follow plans & have absolutely no understanding of the phrase strategic withdrawal. Yet beneath the sarcasm, the explosions, the illegal modifications and the horrifying repair bills, there lies one inconvenient truth.     Universally scrutinised, for the harbouring of rogue smuggling factions, savage mercenary f*******s, and those power corrupt Dominion Overlords, it's here in this s****y region of the Galaxy, that we begin our adventure. Known as The Karataq Zone this crap hole is Revered for those legendary blood thirsty battles, the kinda place where the quick and the sharp survive, and the recklessly inept die. and usually pretty darn quick too! Now,Jack Vance is certainly no stranger to the crazy of these here parts, and with a bucket full of risky battles 'n' chaotic escapes it really is a wonder how he's still alive. Because Jack's got this self fulfilling death wish you see, the kind for being all gung-ho and balls out. You know, the rogue warrior daredevil type? Complete with a quick witted response and that silver tongued cheek, he's always ready to talk himself out from all kinds of bull-shit. But with all this said he is a damn good fighter pilot, in fact one of the best, I'd say! But when it comes down to just how the f**k he's managed to survive this far?     The Continued whispers of anomalous time shifts rippled across the outer systems. Reports emerged, of entire star ships arriving at their destinations before they had even been despatched. Of horrifying reports where individuals aged decades literally within seconds and of countless colonies across dimensions and Zones experiencing phantom days and periods of time that never happened at all. It was The Galactic Justice who first investigated these weirdly reported anomalies, and had traced it's source pattern to a temporal quantum, pulsing deep within the Echron. The Echron was a vast collapsed subspace corridor, that was once considered uninhabitable due to its unstable gravitational vortices. The stunned silence over what the Galactic Justice had discovered, had now become unbearably loud, as it was far more dangerous than predicted. Because what they had uncovered was a conspiracy.
