Ep. 35 Is Menopause Really the Problem? What Your Body May Be Trying to Tell You

It can feel like you hit perimenopause or menopause—and suddenly your body stopped cooperating. Your joints hurt. Sleep changes. Weight shifts. Your energy is different. And everywhere you look menopause seems to be the explanation. But what if this transition isn't simply about everything that's going wrong with your body? What if it's also revealing what your body has been carrying for years? 2026 Fall Reset  In this episode of The Body Rhythm, I offer a different way to look at perimenopause and menopause through the lens of Ayurveda and yoga therapy. Ayurveda sees this stage of life as a natural transition rather than a malfunction of the body. As our hormonal landscape changes, the body may need something different than it did at 25, 35, or 40. I explore why joint stiffness, changes in bone health, nervous system reactivity, sleep disruption, and other symptoms can become more noticeable during this transition and why years of stress, pushing through, under-resting, and not moving enough may also be part of the picture. Instead of asking, How do I get my old body back? perhaps there's a different question: What does my body need from me now? Menopause doesn't have to mean that your body is broken. It can be an invitation to pay closer attention and create a new routine to become more nourishing, more consistent, and more responsive to the body you're living in today. Ep. 34 Burned Out But Still Functioning? The Signs Your Body Is Running on Empty

You’re still showing up. You’re still getting things done. People still depend on you. But underneath it all, you’re exhausted.  Maybe your digestion has become unpredictable. Sleep doesn’t restore you anymore. Your mind won’t shut off, you’re more irritable than you used to be, or you’ve lost touch with the things that once brought you joy. And yet, you keep going. 2026 Fall Reset  In this episode of The Body Rhythm, I share part of my own experience with burnout after years of caregiving, working, and continually overriding what my body was trying to tell me. When I finally returned to Ayurveda and yoga, recovery wasn’t about finding a stricter routine or another wellness protocol. It was about creating a different rhythm—one that made room for nourishment, rest, support, and receiving. The Ayurvedic concept of ojas, our deep reserve of vitality and resilience, and what happens when years of chronic stress and high output slowly deplete those reserves.  Because recovery from burnout doesn’t necessarily require blowing up your life or becoming a different person. It begins by recognizing that your symptoms aren’t something to push through. They may be your body’s way of asking for a different rhythm.  More space, more nourishment, more support, and a chance to replenish what's been missing.   The Hidden Signs of Burnout  Chelsea Johnson Ayurveda / The Body Rhythm

What a 117-Year-Old Woman Teaches Us About Stress and Living Longer

What if the biggest thing standing between you and living longer and feeling better isn't the turmeric supplement you're taking — but the pace you've been living your life? If you're constantly searching for the next wellness trend, morning routine, or anti-aging solution, you're not alone. So many women feel like they're doing everything "right"—yet they're still exhausted, inflamed, sleeping poorly, or wondering why their body doesn't feel like it used to. Maybe your body isn't asking you to try harder. Maybe it's asking you to stop living in survival mode. In this episode, we look at the remarkable life of a woman who lived to 117 years old—and why researchers believe her longevity had less to do with one "superfood" and more to do with the rhythm of her daily life. Her story challenges the belief that healthy aging comes from perfect habits or constant wellness optimization and instead points us toward something much simpler: consistent nourishment, meaningful connection, emotional steadiness, and a life your body can actually sustain.  🎧 Press play to discover why your body responds more to the environment you create every day than to the latest wellness trend—and how small, sustainable rhythms may be one of the most powerful investments you can make in your long-term health. What Stressed Bodies Actually Need (It's Not Another Workout)

What if the reason you still feel exhausted isn't because you're doing too little—but because you've spent too long believing you always have to do more? You work hard. You take care of everyone else. You exercise. You try the wellness routines. You keep pushing because that's what you've always done. But if your body still feels tense, exhausted, anxious, or disconnected... Maybe it isn't asking for another workout, another routine, or another wellness trend. Maybe it's asking for something you've been taught not to need: a time to pause. So many high-achieving women believe healing comes from doing more—more discipline, more exercise, more productivity. But a stressed body often heals in the opposite direction. 🎧 Press play to discover why so many people mistake constant performance for wellness, what stressed bodies are actually asking for, and how creating small moments of safety can begin to change the way you feel—without adding one more thing to your to-do list. 6 Small Daily Habits to Reduce Stress and Feel Better in Your Body

You don't need another perfect routine. You need small, repeatable moments that help your body feel safe enough to heal. That's where lasting change begins. If you've been feeling stressed, waking up tired, struggling with digestion, or wondering why healthy habits never seem to stick, you're not failing. Your body may simply be missing the consistent signals that help it regulate, recover, and restore. Most wellness advice tells you to do more—more supplements, more routines, more discipline. But your body doesn't heal through perfection. It responds to what you repeat every day. Morning light. A glass of water before coffee. A slower exhale. Eating one meal without your phone. These tiny moments may seem insignificant, but over time they become the rhythms that support better sleep, calmer digestion, steadier energy, and a more resilient nervous system. If you're ready to stop chasing the perfect routine and start building a rhythm that actually fits your life, this episode is for you. 🎧 Press play and discover which one small habit your body may be asking for first.
