Stephanie Brown, based in Atlanta, is a photographer and installation artist exploring African descent identities through her work. As a daughter of Jamaican immigrants, her art reflects her experiences blending Jamaican and Black American identities in South Florida. Using various mediums, she creates narratives rooted in historical research to empower individuals to define their identities. Beyond art, Stephanie is a leader and speaker in arts entrepreneurship with experience in education, business, and creative writing. She hosts the In Between Artist podcast about sustainable creative careers and co-founded The Comic Workshop with her cartoonist husband to promote storytelling through comics. As a new parent, she addresses sustainable entrepreneurship and conscious motherhood on her blog and social media. A SCAD and University of Michigan graduate, Stephanie aims to become a renowned visual artist and speaker.

    A Special Look at the Host’s Creative Career

    This is the final episode for Season 1 of the IN BTWN ARTIST. Host Stephanie Brown is interviewed by Sierra King, an artist, archivist, and curator. Stephanie Brown is an artist whose work explores identity formation among people of African descent. She draws from her Jamaican heritage and South Florida upbringing, incorporating historical research into her art. Stephanie has exhibited at spaces such as The Other Art Fair LA, Swan Coach House Gallery, Black Art in America, ADAMA, and Prizm during Miami Art Basel. She holds art degrees from SCAD and the University of Michigan. Additionally, she produces and hosts the podcast IN BTWN ARTIST and co-founded The Comic Workshop with her husband Phillip Fleming to promote storytelling through comics. Previously, Stephanie served as Executive Director of Atlanta’s ADAMA and has spoken at events like LXD Con, College Arts Association, the 1-54 Art Fair in Marrakesh, and several schools. Her recognitions include the Essere Special Fellowship in Italy, the Emory Arts and Social Justice Fellowship, ARC’s CCD program, and being a semi-finalist for the 2025 Visual Art Research Fulbright.
