Discipline, Advocacy & Building a Real Estate Business that Lasts

Send us Fan Mail What separates the agents who succeed long-term… from the ones who don’t make it past a few years? In this episode of The Realtor Who Wines, Rashelle Newmyer has a conversation with Dr. Tony Kelly, 2026 President of Oregon REALTORS®, Air Force veteran, and seasoned real estate leader. They talk about discipline, burnout, and what it really takes to build a sustainable business. “Discipline… that’s the bigger word.”From a 20-year daily running streak to a 24-year real estate career, Tony shares how consistency, not motivation, is the foundation of long-term success. 🔄 From Burnout to Reinvention - Before real estate, Tony built a high-level corporate career leading national and global teams, but success came at a cost. “I was burned out… burned out of traveling… and being away from my kids.”That realization led him to pivot into real estate, where he believed he could leverage his background and create a different kind of life and business. 🏡 Real Estate Advice Most Agents Need to Hear - This episode is packed with real, honest insight, especially for newer agents or anyone looking to grow. Tony breaks down:  Why discipline and daily habits matter more than anything else  The biggest mistakes agents make early in their real estate career  Why going into the office (especially when you’re new) is critical  How to learn faster by being in the right environment One of the most powerful parts of this conversation is Tony’s perspective on brokerage decisions and why so many agents get it wrong. “Don’t chase an office based on the fees… chase what’s going to grow your business.”He shares what agents should be looking for instead:  Training and mentorship  Support systems  Accountability and structure  Long-term growth opportunities Because at the end of the day… “The fee is not the problem… no business is the problem.”🏃‍♂️ The Mindset Behind Consistency Tony’s running journey, nearly 20 years without missing a day, is a powerful parallel to business. “I wonder if I can go 30 days… then six months… then a year… and I just never stopped.”That same mindset applies to:  Building a business  Leading others  Staying committed when it’s inconvenient 🤝 Leadership, Growth & What Most Agents Don’t See Tony also shares his journey into leadership and how, for most of his career, he had no idea what was happening behind the scenes to support the industry. “I had no idea what REALTORS® were doing behind the scenes… until I got involved.”It’s a powerful reminder of:  The importance of industry involvement  Advocacy and protecting clients  And the bigger picture of real estate beyond transactions 🔥 Why You Should Listen If you’re:  A real estate agent (new or experienced)  Building a business and struggling with consistency  Feeling burned out or questioning your next move  Or looking for real, no-fluff advice from someone who’s done it This episode will give you clarity and a bit of a reality check. Changing the Way You Think About Wine

Send us Fan Mail S2 E3 - Cassandra Beldowicz  -  Winemaker & Owner of Corcilla Cellars What if you don’t need to know anything about wine… to actually enjoy it? In this episode of The Realtor Who Wines, Rashelle Newmyer sits down with winemaker and founder of Corcilla Cellars, Cassandra Beldowicz, to talk about breaking into the wine industry, redefining the tasting room experience, and making wine feel approachable for everyone.  “At the end of the day, all you really need to know is—did I like it or did I not like it?”Cassandra’s journey didn’t start in a vineyard; it started in healthcare. After working as a labor and delivery nurse, a broken arm led to an unexpected pause… and a new obsession. “I was studying four hours a day… drawing maps of Bordeaux… I was completely obsessed.”That obsession turned into harvest work in Napa Valley, years of hands-on experience, and eventually launching her own label in Oregon, where she now creates unique, small-batch wines designed to expand people’s palates beyond the expected. “It’s been my goal to change people’s minds about Riesling… and I feel like I’m getting there.” In This Episode, We Talk About:  How Cassandra went from nurse to winemaker (and why she never went back)  Why does she intentionally not make Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley  The reality of working a harvest (70–80 hour weeks and still loving it)  Being a woman in a male-dominated industry  How to walk into a tasting room with confidence, even if you know nothing about wine “You don’t need to know the notes of plum or pencil shavings… you just need to know what you like.”Wine, Community & Breaking the Rules Cassandra is also redefining what a tasting room can feel like, less intimidating, more like your living room. “My goal was to make it feel like you’re in your living room… not pretentious, just comfortable.”From hosting community events like drag bingo to creating a space where kids, friends, and newcomers all feel welcome, she’s building more than a wine brand—she’s building connection. “We’ve had people come in who didn’t know each other… and now they meet here all the time. That’s what I’m most proud of.” The “Badass Women” Wine Series One of the most unique parts of Cassandra’s brand? Her rotating wine blends are named after influential women like Betty White and Katherine Johnson, with a portion of proceeds supporting women in STEM. It’s wine with a story, a purpose, and a little bit of edge. Why You Should Listen Whether you’re:  A wine lover (or someone who feels intimidated by wine)  A business owner building something from scratch  Or someone who loves hearing how people turn passion into purpose This episode will leave you inspired and maybe a little more confident ordering your next glass. Authentic Content Creation that Helps Entrepreneurs and Brands Tell their Stories

Send us Fan Mail Episode 38 - Andres Nieves-Bernal - Videographer/Photographer, and Co-Owner of ANB Collective This episode is a really special one because host Rashelle Newmyer is finally bringing the magic from behind the camera out in front of it. She sits down with Andres Nieves-Bernal, the creative mind behind A&B Collective and the person who has helped bring this podcast to life visually and creatively since day one. Andres is usually the one behind the scenes making everything look and sound great, but Rashelle finally convinced him to step in front of the camera so you can hear his story. In this conversation, Andres shares how he went from being a competitive soccer player to falling in love with photography through car culture and YouTube, and how he and his wife, Jasmine, slowly built a creative business that now helps families, entrepreneurs, and brands tell their stories through photography, video, and marketing. They discuss how A&B Collective evolved, what it’s like to build a family-owned business, and why structure, consistency, and respect for people matter as much as creativity and talent. They also discuss content creation, social media trends, the pressure of the algorithm, and why authenticity consistently outperforms perfection. Andres shares what it’s like balancing business ownership with family life, how he’s teaching his kids about work ethic and entrepreneurship, and why he believes that giving people a great experience matters more than any flashy edit or trending transition. This episode reflects on creativity, entrepreneurship, collaboration, and what it takes to grow something meaningful over time. It’s also our Season One finale, which makes it extra special. Rashelle is so grateful for everyone who has listened, shared, and supported this podcast, and I can’t wait for what we’re building next. Growing a Boutique Wine Business From the Vineyard to the Bottle

Send us Fan Mail Episode 37 -  Jennifer Warner Founder & Winemaker, Dagger Daisy In this episode, Rashelle Newmyer is joined by winemaker extraordinaire Jennifer Warner, founder of Dagger Daisy Wines, for an honest, behind-the-scenes conversation about what it really takes to make wine from the vineyard to the bottle, and everything in between. Jennifer shares her unconventional journey into winemaking, from a past life as a lawyer to becoming a second-year winemaker driven by curiosity, creativity, and a deep love for the process. What began as a home cider brewing adventure during COVID quickly evolved into formal wine education, an incubator program, and ultimately the launch of her own boutique label, all without ever working under another winemaker. This conversation dives into the side of wine most people don’t see: the farming, chemistry, fermentation, and countless decisions that shape each bottle. They explore why Jennifer chose Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir Rosé as her first releases, how making wine you genuinely love makes it easier to sell and share, and why stepping outside of Pinot Noir dominance in the Willamette Valley can be a powerful way for small producers to stand out. Jennifer also explains how and why she sources her grapes from Oregon State University’s research vineyard, to unexpected collaborations with first-time vineyard owners, and how education, experimentation, and trust play a critical role in her winemaking philosophy. They talk harvest realities, finicky grapes, side-by-side vintage comparisons, and what it’s like to be deep in production while planning what’s next, including sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and stepping into red wines like Syrah. Beyond the wine itself, this episode highlights the importance of community and mentorship. Jennifer opens up about how isolating entrepreneurship can feel as a one-woman operation, and how invaluable it is to lean on industry veterans, incubator mentors, winery collaborators, and Women in Wine programs for guidance, reassurance, and perspective. In a business that can feel intimidating from the outside, she shares how welcoming and generous the wine community has been. They also talk about the realities of growing a boutique wine brand: pop-ups, farmer’s markets, social media fatigue, juggling a demanding day job, and learning to market a product you poured your heart into. Jennifer reflects on success, sustainability, distribution versus staying small, and what growth looks like when it’s intentional, not rushed. From branding and label design done by hand in Canva, to creative uses for leftover wine, to the simple joy of watching people create memories around something she made, this episode is a candid, inspiring look at building something meaningful from scratch. Whether you’re a wine lover, an entrepreneur, a creative thinker, or someone who’s ever said, “I’ve always wanted to do that,” this conversation will give you a deeper appreciation for what’s in your glass and the passion, patience, and people behind it.  Thank you for listening!
