Davis Trachte | 3-Year Lama Training, Vajrayana Dharma Talk

On the newest episode of The InterWorld Podcast, Yasha welcomes Davis Trachte! Davis Trachte is a meditation practitioner, Dharma student, and founder of the Adirondack Loving Awareness Meditation Project (ADK LAMP), an initiative dedicated to offering free, secular and nondenominational, nature-based meditation programs. Born in Goshen, New York, in 1993, Davis grew up in the Hudson Valley and developed a deep connection with the natural world at an early age. As a teenager, he fell in love with rock climbing and solo hiking in the Adirondack Mountains, experiences that cultivated an enduring appreciation for wilderness, solitude, and contemplative life. At nineteen, during a period of depression, Davis discovered a book on meditation in his favorite local climbing shop. That encounter became a turning point and eventually led him to Tibetan Buddhism. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in Tibetan Language and Buddhist Studies from Naropa University in 2018. He later lived at Kunzang Palchen Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Red Hook, New York, where he immersed himself in Buddhist study, meditation, ritual, and community life. For approximately six years, Davis worked closely with Lama Tashi Topgyal, serving as his personal attendant and assistant translator and traveling extensively with him. His practice is rooted primarily in the Nyingma and Kagyu traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, with an emphasis on the Barway Dorje lineage, Dzogchen, Mahamudra, compassion, and bodhicitta. Davis is currently undertaking an extended period of intensive meditation and Dharma training under Lama Tashi Topgyal’s guidance. His own experience of discovering meditation during a difficult period of his life has inspired a particular passion for making contemplative practice accessible to people facing mental health struggles and to at-risk and underserved young people. Through ADK LAMP, Davis hopes to create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to encounter meditation, loving awareness, compassion, and a deeper relationship with themselves, one another, and the natural world.  #Interworldpodcast #innerworldpeace
