What are They, For So Many?

In this examination of the Feeding of the 5000 miracle, we are taught by Jesus to look around us and see needs correctly. He teaches His disciples through this miracle how to see need rightly and address it, He is teaching them, and us, that God uses what we feel is a little bit to offer to a helpless situation to accomplish His work.

Send Them in a Worthy Manner

We examine 3 John to better understand how we ought to both receive and send our missionaries in a manner worthy of God because they go out for the sake of Jesus' name.

Missions Exists Because Worship Doesn't

There is a problem with the world: People were made to worship the One True God, but because of sin they choose to worship false gods and themselves instead. Missions is the solution to this problem. We who have heard the gospel are called to share it with those who have not heard.

Sing To His Name, For It Is Pleasant

What we worship shapes who we become. That is the arresting truth at the heart of Psalm 135, and it is as relevant today as it was when Israel sang it on the steps ascending to the temple in Jerusalem. This psalm is not merely a hymn of praise -- it is a battle cry, a declaration that the living God creates his people, works for his people, and stands in a category entirely his own. As we walk through this ancient song together, we are confronted with a stark contrast: on one side, a God who does whatever he pleases in heaven and on earth, who freed slaves from the most powerful empire of the ancient world, who gave his people rest and a home; on the other side, idols of silver and gold, made by human hands, with mouths that cannot speak and eyes that cannot see. The psalmist's warning is not abstract. Those who make idols become like them. Every day, through the quiet choices of where we place our time, our money, and our deepest desires, we are being formed into the image of whatever sits on the throne of our hearts. The great invitation of this psalm is to lift our eyes to a God whose name, unlike the names of the gods of cruelty and destruction, calls to mind only goodness, mercy, and the joy of being known and chosen.

Declare His Glory Among the Nations

What if the greatest anthem we could ever sing had nothing to do with national pride, but with the glory of God proclaimed to every corner of the earth? Psalm 96 invites us into exactly that vision. This ancient song, written by David at a pivotal moment in Israel's history, carries a breathtaking idea: that God's glory is not meant to be kept among a select few, but cherished deeply by His people and declared boldly among all nations. The psalm weaves together three powerful threads. First, we are called to praise the glorious works of God, both His work in creation and His work in salvation. The universe itself, from the vast expanse of stars to the intricate information coded within every human cell, bears the fingerprints of a Creator who is mighty beyond measure. Second, we are called to praise the glorious name of God, the sum total of who He is. Psalm 96 describes Him with a striking combination: strength and beauty together. These qualities rarely coexist in the world around us, yet in God they are perfectly unified. This challenges us to ask whether the God we present to others is fully and accurately who He truly is. Third, and perhaps most profoundly, we are called to proclaim the glory of the cross. John 12 draws a direct line between the cross and the glorification of God's name, reminding us that it is at Calvary where we see God most fully, both His perfect justice and His overwhelming love displayed in a single moment. Together, these truths form an international anthem for every believer, a song worth carrying into every relationship, every conversation, and every corner of the world.

Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord, All the Earth!

What does it look like to truly see God? Psalm 98 opens with a bold declaration that God has revealed himself to the entire world through his salvation, and that all the ends of the earth have witnessed it. Yet so many of us walk through life with a muted sense of joy, going through the motions of worship without being genuinely moved. This sermon digs into that tension, asking us to honestly examine whether we are actually seeing God and responding to him, or whether something is blocking our view. The psalmist paints a picture where not only God's people but all of creation, the seas, the rivers, the hills, are erupting in praise at what God has done. If creation itself is groaning and anticipating his return, what does that say about how we ought to be responding? The spiritual lesson here is both humbling and liberating: if we cannot see God clearly, the problem is not on his end. He has not hidden himself. The invitation is to press deeper, to fix our eyes on who God is and what he has done, and to let that vision transform us from the inside out.

May All Nations Serve Him

What do our political passions and our longing for strong leadership reveal about us? More than we might expect. Deep within every human heart is a hunger for a ruler who is truly just, truly righteous, and truly good. Psalm 72 brings that longing into sharp focus. Written as a prayer for a son ascending to the throne, this ancient psalm reaches far beyond any single king or any single era. It draws a straight line from the creation mandate in Genesis all the way to the reign of King Jesus, and it invites us to see that the flourishing we ache for as a society is not primarily a political problem. It is a sin problem. And God has answered it with a king. We explore how authority itself is a gift from God, designed for our good, and how the justice and righteousness of God's perfect king are the very foundations on which human flourishing is built. When we understand that, everything changes about how we relate to leadership, to government, and to the gospel itself.

Let the Nations Be Glad

What if the blessings we receive from God were never meant to stop with us? Psalm 67 opens with a prayer that echoes the ancient priestly blessing spoken over Israel, a declaration that God's face shines upon his people with grace and favor. But the psalm does not let us settle into that comfort for long. Almost immediately, we are reminded that this blessing has a purpose far beyond our own well-being. God blessed Israel so that his ways would be known among all nations, and that same pattern holds true for us today. We have been brought out of darkness and into light so that we might proclaim the greatness of the one who rescued us. This sermon invites us to ask a searching question: are we living in light of that calling, or have we retreated into the smaller world of personal comfort and distraction? The joy of knowing God is real and deep, but it is made complete when we bring others into it. That is not a burden placed on top of our faith. It is the very shape of the life we were made for.
