Horror Books out this Spooky Season • October 2026 releases

October is finally here and in a blaze of glory! We have already been to one gorgeous little fall town for a farmer's market and a wonderful stroll around for fish and chips at the pub and some of the Autumn events that we like to do. Then of course reading wonderful spooky books while cozied up with a blanket and a spicy latte--because the air is finally getting a little chilly. As mentioned in the show, many of last month's books were Halloween-themed as well and here you'll find not only vampires, witches, and ghosts; there's even a little Christmas spirit in the air too... A Whole Lotta Horror • Reading and Pickups this Fall

In this video I'm going to talk about some books that I've read, am going to read, and picked up this fall.I know we're not even in the Spooky season, but it has been cool and the leaves are changing color as we speak. This month has been fairly productive with reading even though I haven't had a lot of time to do it. We are getting close to that time where the backwards bookshelf will need a little revamp ~ and speaking of Vamps, there is a video coming soon on vampire books, including one that I picked up this month. On my Instagram you would have seen a tiny stack that I picked up from Allison the Bookman and that was‌ most of the books I bought. For the most part, I've been reading ARCs and have picked three books from the backwards bookshelf after finishing two last month. With these next three books that mark a new year for the backwards bookshelf come Halloween.✮ Mergers and Acquisitions ✮Read this month:Final Girls by Riley Sager https://amzn.to/3SW8JbdThe Organization Is Here To Support You by Charlene Elsby https://amzn.to/4hDT3CHBetween Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman https://amzn.to/4hooakFOur Lady Of Holy Slaughter by S.J. They Really Like Me! • Reading Splatterpunk Zine #2

Welcome to a little series where I get into each issue of the unparallelled zine, Splatterpunk. Started in 2012 by editor Jack Bantry, it is going strong today and we eagerly anticipate the next issue. While I don’t go in-depth, nor do I show page by page to preserve the copyright of the owners and creators, I wanted to highlight this gem of a subgenre some of us call home. Like a reading vlog without all that pesky reading, I’ll conduct a post mortem on each issue in turn Buy Splatterpunk at: https://splatterpunkzine.bigcartel.com/ Splatterpunk - Issue 2 - December 2012 New fiction by Barry Hoffman, Jeff Strand, Ronald Malfi, and Shane McKenzie. A little catch up detailing the horror books I've read lately and have added to the shelf. Top Horror Books for Fall • September 2026

September is spooky-season pre-game. So that means there are way too many books to choose from. I will say that many of the best writers have books coming this season, however, most of them are only here in spirit. When it came to choosing a story over the name, the story won. There are three anthologies here so the names of writers with books out this month are there, and they are all dutifully listed on https://typicalbooks.com/newhorror as well. A Scent of New-Mown Hay • Sci-fi War Horror

This book was a pick that I noticed while shopping at Re-Read Used Books here in Ottawa. I'd never heard of the title before. I'm always trying to find titles or authors that are from that particular era before I started reading in the '80s that aren't the classics and usual suspects that came in or after the sci-fi and adventure boom. Upon reading it I was stoked to see it was like a "keep calm" zero-day version of The Last Of Us set in the 50s. If you liked The Girl in The River by Wendy Wagner and love eco-horror like The Ruins by Scott Smith, this may be for you. ✮ Mergers and Acquisitions ✮Pick up the Valancourt version here! https://amzn.to/4cedkfk #booktube #youtube #horrorbooks #horrortuber ✮✮✮✮✮✮ ▹ Books I wrote ▹ https://amzn.to/3k20OY6▹ Music by ænorex ▹ https://aenorex.com ▹ All socials ▹ https://linktr.ee/LydiaPeever🩶As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases when you use Amazon links here. The Caretaker • Follow the Rites, or the Rabbit?

I loved We Used To Live Here and the summary for The Caretaker certainly grabbed me. Marcus Kliewer’s work is a ‌refreshing blend of old-fashioned horror ghost stories and super-modern paranormal twists. Coupled with ‌striking covers and the fact that the author is Canadian, I'd have a hard time turning this down. This book was provided as an e-arc by Simon & Schuster (thank you!), and I was slow at getting to the long-form review - all in all, I was very excited to see all the hype surrounding this book. That said, I am pretty excited for 10 years down the road when we have five more of his books and can play the old house megaverse game. This is the story of Macy Mullins, ‌a young adult who was shoved into adulthood at too young ‌an age, and I ‌do like and connect with characters like that. Especially those secluded in creepy houses, surrounded by cliff-side forest. Looking forward to his upcoming book titled Please Remain Seated which is a collection of three short stories! ✮ Mergers and Acquisitions ✮ The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewerhttps://amzn.to/3ScINYe Typeface: Brandon Grotesque (unless you think it is something different...) #booktube #youtube #horrorbooks #horrortuber ✮✮✮✮✮✮ ▹ Books I wrote ▹ https://amzn.to/3k20OY6▹ Music by ænorex ▹ https://aenorex.com ▹ All socials ▹ https://linktr.ee/LydiaPeever 🩶 As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases when you use Amazon links here.
