    13. Where Postpartum Survival Meets Purpose: Community, Loss, and Becoming

While navigating new motherhood, Jody discovered FIT4MOM after seeing founder Lisa Druxman on the Today Show—and instantly felt a deep connection to its mission. What began as a much-needed lifeline in her own postpartum recovery became woven into her purpose as a mother and community builder. In this episode, we talk about how Jody’s postpartum journey and her work with FIT4MOM are inseparable—from rebuilding strength and confidence with her baby by her side, to navigating divorce in the immediate postpartum period, solo parenting, career shifts, and the reality of survival mode where “self-care” isn’t always accessible. Now a mom of three, Jody shares how the community she helped build came full circle to support her through later pregnancies, profound loss, pregnancy during COVID, and a season of major medical challenges with her second child. We also explore pregnancy later in life, twin loss, and why connection—especially with more seasoned mothers—can be life-changing in postpartum and beyond. This conversation is a powerful reminder that community isn’t a luxury in motherhood—it’s essential. She is nationally certified through FIT4MOM as a Fit4Baby, Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, Strides 360, Body Boost/Body Well, Body Ignite instructor, and Run Club Coach. Through FIT4MOM Wilmington, Jody is passionate about helping moms feel seen, supported, and strong as they navigate the tender and transformative postpartum season.  Learn more at: wilmington.fit4mom.com Jody/FIT4MOM Instagram Laura: @nurturedwaveswellness Free Nurtured Postpartum Mini Course Music by Universal Sines

    07. Empowered Transitions: Motherhood, Entrepreneurship, & the Pelvic Floor with Dr. Jordan Martin

In this heartfelt episode of the Postpartum Tea, I sit down with Dr. Jordan Martin, a women's physical therapist and mother, to explore the profound journey of transitioning into motherhood and entrepreneurship. Dr. Jordan also shares insights on pelvic floor health (including healing tips for scar tissue), the significance of pre and postnatal PF care, and the impact of her mother's midwifery background on her own journey. Whether you're navigating postpartum, considering entrepreneurship, or seeking holistic health advice, this episode offers valuable inspiration and wisdom. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University and a Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. She is double board-certified as a clinical specialist  in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Women’s Health Physical Therapy.  Women’s healthcare is part of Jordan’s lineage as her mother is a Certified Nurse-Midwife. She grew up watching her mother pursue her passion of helping women birth life. While Jordan was still in PT school she knew that she would ultimately pursue women's healthcare to continue the sacred work that has been generationally passed down to her. Jordan’s passion for providing services for lymphedema and oncology patients is a way for her to honor her “second mother” who battled cancer and lymphedema which she ultimately lost her life to when Jordan was in her early 20's. Jordan’s first certification was in lymphedema therapy to give back in her honor. You know the saying "it takes a village"  when we talk about raising children. That saying was true for Jordan’s childhood. God placed a village of women around her who helped raise her into the woman she is today. Jordan wants to ensure that every woman out there has the opportunity to uphold other women and children in their community the way that the women in her life showed up for her as a child.  Personally, she enjoys an active lifestyle with her family that includes practicing yoga, stand-up paddle boarding, hiking with her husband and sons, and chasing after her dog Veda!
