    Thankful for What?

It's Thanksgiving Week - and life has been hard. You know the list - political unrest, government shutdown, wars, assassinations, international crisis's, attacks on religious institutions - shall we go on? And this doesn't include what you may be dealing with in your own personal life. So, this Thanksgiving week, we're thankful for what? Kate and Kellie chat about this subject and offer ideas and practices that may help each of us find thanksgiving and gratitude in the midst of the hardships of life. Faith in the Real World: When Sunday Meets Monday

Most of us want to follow Jesus, but the real challenge is: What does faith look like at work? How do I live like a Christian in my relationships? What about money decisions? Emotions? Culture? Politics? Romans 12 tells us that worship is not just a Sunday activity—it’s a whole-life calling. In this episode, Kate and Kellie explore six everyday spaces where faith speaks powerfully to all of these areas. Welcome to "Off the Rails!" Boundaries: The Holy "No"

There is so much demanding of our time and attention these days - and so many places where our time and presence are demanded of us. But we can't be everywhere all the time - and we can't do it all - even though we may like to think we can. But there is something sacred about drawing boundaries in your life, as difficult as it may be sometimes. In this episode Kate and Kellie talk about boundaries and how they are rooted in scripture beginning with God's example right from creation - and demonstrated all the way through the life of Jesus. If you struggle to say "no," and perhaps feel a sense of guilt when you do, then this episode is for you! Welcome to "Off the Rails!" Peace Through Doubt

Doubt is common - it's part of the human experience - something we all can relate to - but especially in the realm of religion and faith. So often we all experience crisis's of faith that often stems from our doubts and fears. And that's okay. You are not alone. Be assured that Jesus welcomes all of our doubts and questions - and in so doing, offers you a chance to be released from those doubts if you simply give him a chance. Kate and Kellie chat about the experience of doubt and offer a few ways to combat and reflect on this emotion when it appears. Welcome to another episode of "Off the Rails!" Culture: An Assault on Peace

True peace can be hard to come by - especially true inner peace? And why is that? There are many reasons - but one cannot ignore the way our current culture assaults our sense of peace. So how do we combat that? In this episode, Kate and Kellie lay out 10 ways culture assaults our peace and offers solutions to each one.  Welcome to Off the Rails! The Thing About "Thoughts & Prayers"

There is an odd controversy surrounding the phrase "thoughts and prayers" - especially in the face of national tragedies. Some people offer up thoughts and prayers as a way to engage in their faith in the midst of terribly circumstances, while others criticize the phrase, claiming that is not what is needed, but rather action and reform. As Christians, we adamantly believe in both - yet we also reject the idea that our thoughts and prayers and ineffectual. Kate and Kellie spend some time chatting about this very subject and look forward to having you engage with them, too. We are all flawed - as human beings there is no getting around that. But what do you do when someone you admire - someone from whom you've learned a great deal - someone who has had a positive influence in your life - yet, somewhere down the road had a moral failure. What do you do with all the good and positive things you have learned from them, especially if they were a well-known, influential artist, creator, musician, or pastor? These questions ultimately lead us into the realm of "Cancel Culture" - a prevalent term in our day and age. But on a larger scale, do we simply dismiss the good an individual has done as they stand in the glaring spotlight of their moral failure and bad decisions? In this episode, Kate and Kellie converse about what it means to still learn from others, in spite of their failures, and how to separate the "God within" from our flawed humanity.
