    Dr Russell Greaney of Aerogen

    In this episode of Innovate at UL, we meet with Dr Russell Greaney is the Associate Director of Core Development at Aerogen in Galway. He discusses the valuable collaborations between Aerogen and the University of Limerick (UL). This partnership played a key role in helping Aerogen build in-house expertise in aerosol drug delivery. UL provided important research input and access to specialised knowledge at a critical time, and Aerogen has since taken that foundation and expanded and advanced the technology. The result is the Solo II nebuliser—now recognised globally and proven to be significantly more efficient than its closest competitor. Russell highlights how academic collaborations can serve as an important stepping stone in addressing technical hurdles and accelerating innovation.     Emma Morgan of Serosep

    In this episode of Innovate at UL, we meet with Emma Morgan, CFO of Serosep Ltd, who discusses its collaboration with the University of Limerick (UL), which began several years ago. Serosep, a manufacturer of medical diagnostic kits, initially hesitated due to intellectual property (IP) concerns, but later realised the benefits and embraced UL's expertise. Key projects included improving freeze-drying processes and reducing cycle time from 48 to 24 hours. Funding from Enterprise Ireland and Research Ireland (formerly SFI) supported these initiatives. Emma emphasises the importance of building relationships and managing budgets and timelines.
