I Thought Healing Was for “Special” Christians—Then This Happened

For more than 20 years, Judy Deese was a committed Christian—but she believed praying for the sick and seeing miracles was something God used other people to do. Then everything changed. After witnessing a healing at her own church, Judy’s daughter challenged her to pray the same way. Judy then commanded her daughter’s shorter leg to grow in the name of Jesus—and watched it move right in front of her. That moment changed the way Judy understood the Christian life. Since then, Judy shares that she has prayed for people dealing with pain, physical conditions, blindness, and much more—and has witnessed miraculous healing! In this episode of Sips of Grace, Judy shares why she once thought healing was for pastors and “special” Christians, the moment that changed her perspective, how she began praying for others, what she does when she doesn’t immediately see a result, and why Jesus—not the person praying—is the healer. “It’s not just the special people… it’s all of us.” ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Judy thought healing was for “special” Christians 02:30 God wakes Judy with a message 08:54 Judy watches a leg grow 12:20 “You have the exact Holy Spirit that I have” 14:06 Judy prays for her daughter 17:15 Her leg moves 28:47 How Judy started praying for strangers 34:03 Miracles that changed her confidence 39:30 How Judy actually prays for healing 54:18 What if you don’t see immediate healing? 1:03:09 Judy’s closing prayer Judy also teaches free online classes designed to help Christians understand how Scripture calls believers to pray for healing and minister to others. Kidnapped at 7—They Said I’d Never Make It Home

At just 7 years old, Lauren Burns thought she was going trick-or-treating with her father. Instead, he drove her to the airport, put her on a plane, and took her thousands of miles away to Jordan. Within days, Lauren realized this wasn’t a vacation. She was enrolled in school, separated from her mother, and left wondering if she would ever make it home. Back in Texas, Lauren’s mom was desperately searching for a way to get her daughter back. Again and again, she was told there was nothing anyone could do. Then she turned to God. After three days of fasting and prayer, everything began to change. Connections that seemed impossible started falling into place. A group of former military men with experience in the Middle East agreed to take on a mission they had never attempted before: rescuing a kidnapped child from Jordan. While Lauren had no idea anyone was coming for her, people were praying, planning, searching, and risking everything to bring her home. What unfolded next involved a covert rescue operation, an escape toward the Israeli border, a decoy plan, authorities searching for them, and a race to get Lauren out of Jordan before it was too late. But Lauren’s testimony doesn’t end with the rescue. Years later, she still had to wrestle with trauma, father wounds, forgiveness, and a difficult question: If God was good, why had He allowed this to happen at all? In this episode of Sips of Grace, Lauren shares how Jesus met her in those wounds, how she learned to see her Heavenly Father differently than her earthly father, and how looking back allowed her to recognize something she couldn’t see as a child: God had been working behind the scenes the entire time. This is an extraordinary testimony of kidnapping, rescue, healing, forgiveness, and the faithfulness of God when circumstances seem impossible. Lauren’s new book, STOLEN, tells the full story of her kidnapping, rescue, and the details behind the operation that brought her home. I Was a Christian—But I Still Needed Deliverance

Carissa had already come to Jesus, but as a new Christian, she didn’t fully understand the spiritual battle that was happening around her. Before that, her life had unraveled through severe depression, alcohol, fear, resentment, and a marriage that was falling apart. As Jesus began restoring her life through Scripture, Christian community, counseling, and a deeper relationship with Him, Carissa also began learning about spiritual warfare and deliverance. A New Age practitioner told her she had three “spirit guides,” and a medium later told her she saw them too. At the time, Carissa didn’t understand the spiritual implications of going down that path. She now understands those practices opened doors she should never have explored. As she learned more about spiritual warfare and deliverance, she came to see those experiences very differently. Carissa says she eventually went through at least seven or eight deliverances before finding freedom. In this episode of Sips of Grace, Carissa shares how Jesus met her at one of the lowest points of her life, restored her marriage, changed the way she understood spiritual warfare, and led her into a deeper freedom in Christ. Her message is simple: no one is too far gone for Jesus. Ex-New Ager Reveals the Dark Side of the Spirit Realm

Lara Shabb thought she was working with light. Her search for truth had taken her through philosophy, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, yoga, Reiki, tarot cards, crystals, psychic experiences, spirit guides, and eventually deep into New Age spirituality. From the outside, her life looked incredible. She had a successful career, traveled the world, built a growing business, lived in beautiful places, and moved in high-level personal development circles. But something still felt wrong. Lara says she became “mega psychic” and began experiencing things in the spirit realm she couldn’t explain. She witnessed disturbing spiritual manifestations, paranormal activity, and experiences that eventually made her question what she was really connected to. For a long time, she didn’t recognize it as darkness—because it looked beautiful. Then Jesus interrupted everything. After a supernatural encounter involving her roommate and the Holy Spirit, Lara began removing crystals, tarot cards, and other New Age items from her room. Soon after, she says Jesus appeared to her. In that moment, Lara says she knew He was different from every spiritual experience she had ever chased. “He is King of Kings.” In this episode of Sips of Grace, Lara shares how Jesus pulled her out of New Age spirituality, what she says she encountered in the spirit realm, why she never expected to leave the life she had built, and the peace, strength, and freedom she has found in Christ. “I did not choose Jesus. Jesus chose me.” Lara’s testimony is a powerful reminder that not every spiritual experience is from God—and that something can appear to be light while still leading us away from the truth. RELOADED: Jesus Said the Last Days Would Look Like This

In this RELOADED episode of Sips of Grace, I’m joined by Pete and Luke Ohlinger from the Days of Noah podcast for a fascinating conversation about Genesis 6, the Nephilim, giants in Scripture, spiritual warfare, and end-times deception. Jesus said that before His return, it would be “as it was in the days of Noah.” But what does that actually mean? And why do so many Christians overlook some of the most supernatural and mysterious parts of the Bible? In this episode, we talk about Genesis 6, why the Nephilim matter to the biblical storyline, how spiritual deception may increase in the last days, and how believers can explore difficult topics while staying rooted in Scripture. This conversation is thought-provoking, mysterious, and challenging—but the goal is not fear or speculation. The goal is to hold everything up to the Word of God, ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. In this episode, we discuss: • What Jesus meant by “as in the days of Noah” • Genesis 6 and the Nephilim • Giants in the Bible • Spiritual warfare and end-times deception • Why Christians should take the supernatural parts of Scripture seriously • How to test everything against God’s Word Guest: Pete and Luke Ohlinger Podcast: Days of Noah  Check out The Days of Noah Podcast: @thedaysofnoahpodcast Connect with Sips of Grace: Website: https://sipsofgrace.org/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sipsofgracepodcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61574929687153 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@sipsofgrace YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/SipsofGracePodcast

RELOADED: An Angel Stopped My Tarot Card Reading

In this RELOADED episode of Sips of Grace, a tarot card reading takes an unexpected turn when the medium suddenly freezes and says an angel has appeared in the spiritual realm. Gina Gomez had spent years carrying the pain of severe childhood abuse, rejection, and a desperate longing to be loved. When a medium appeared to know details about her past, Gina believed she had finally found someone who could help her. Instead, that encounter led her deeper into witchcraft—and eventually into sleep paralysis, unexplained sickness, spiritual oppression, and increasing instability. During one reading, the medium stopped and told Gina that God wanted to speak to her. But Gina rejected Him. This is the powerful story of how Jesus continued pursuing Gina, delivered her from witchcraft, healed wounds she had carried since childhood, helped her forgive the woman who abused her, and restored her identity. Gina’s testimony is a reminder that no amount of darkness, pain, or rebellion places someone beyond the reach of Jesus. Content note: This episode includes discussion of childhood abuse, suicidal thoughts, witchcraft, pornography, and spiritual oppression. Kidnapped and Left for Dead in the Everglades—But I Wasn’t Alone

At just 10 years old, Chris Carrier was kidnapped on his walk home from school, stabbed repeatedly, shot, and abandoned in the Florida Everglades. His attacker believed he had left Chris there to disappear. But six days later, Chris was found alive. Chris believes God’s presence covered him in the Everglades and that angels stood guard while alligators, panthers, exposure, and his injuries threatened his life. Yet surviving the attack was only the beginning of what God would do through his story. For years, Chris lived with fear while the man responsible remained free. Then, 22 years later, he received an unexpected phone call: his attacker had confessed—and Chris was offered the chance to meet him face-to-face. What followed was an extraordinary story of forgiveness, reconciliation, and salvation. Chris forgave the man who tried to kill him, shared the gospel with him, and watched him place his faith in Jesus shortly before his death. This testimony is a powerful reminder that no life is beyond God’s mercy, no wound is beyond His healing, and what was intended for evil can still be redeemed for good.
