    In the new episode, Enuma Okoro speaks with the artist Kapwani Kiwanga. Kiwanga’s multidisciplinary practice brings together sculpture, installation, film, and performance with anthropological research and a precise examination of historical structures of power, knowledge, and trade. Her works investigate materials as carriers of histories, economic relations, and social narratives, while at the same time opening up poetic spaces of perception and reflection. Alongside a wide range of international exhibitions, including representing Canada at the 2024 Biennale Kiwanga has increasingly based her production in Berlin, a city that has become central to her working life and exhibition practice. More than just a place of making, Berlin also provides the setting in which her long-standing collaboration with Galerie Tanya Wagner continues to develop. This episode of the Gallery Weekend Podcast traces Kiwanga’s artistic practice primarily through her exhibitions and the specific places in which they are situated.

Miriam Cahns Werk setzt sich mit Gewalt, Krieg und der Verletzlichkeit des Menschen auseinander. Ihre oft figurativen Darstellungen thematisieren Flucht, Trauma und die fragile Beziehung zwischen Mensch, Natur und Machtstrukturen. Dabei sind ihre Arbeiten geprägt von einem tiefen Humanismus. In der Ausstellung „Traumbefehl“, die bis zum 17. Januar 2026 in der Galerie Meyer Riegger in Berlin zu sehen ist, verbindet sich ihr charakteristischer Stil mit abstrakteren, textbasierten Arbeiten zu einer umfassenden Rauminstallation. 174 Werke, streng auf Betrachterhöhe gebracht, durchziehen durchlaufend die ganze Galerie auf zwei Etagen. Es ist ein Parcours der Erinnerungen und der Träume. Beeinflusst durch seine frühen Erfahrungen in der Musik und sein Interesse an Medizin verbindet er Wissenschaft, Psychologie, Pharmakologie, Religion und Kunstgeschichte zu komplexen, mehrschichtigen Werken. Bekannt ist er für raumgreifende Installationen, die wie Versuchsanordnungen funktionieren und Betrachter:innen in offene Denk- und Erfahrungsräume einladen. Seit 2008 lehrt er als Professor an der Universität der Künste Berlin. In der Galerie Barbara Thumm zeigt Zipp aktuelle Arbeiten, die seine interdisziplinären Fragestellungen fortsetzen. Präsentiert werden mehrteilige Installationen, die Malerei, Objekte und raumbezogene Elemente zu immersiven Szenarien verbinden und seine Auseinandersetzung mit Psyche und Wahrnehmung in eindringliche Bildwelten übersetzen.
