As a messaging strategist, content creator, eldest daughter, and 1/2 of a child-free marriage, my episodes are like voice memos to a friend: bouncing between business decisions, creative experiments, friendship breakups, and choosing myself over everyone else's expectations and in The Selfish Experiment, you're testing the theory alongside me. Expect honest confessions between marketing insights, touching on topics like integrity-based marketing, self-discovery, creative expression... and whatever the f**k else I'm experimenting with like maybe a new TikTok dish? Each episode we share together is a permission slip to get selfish, proving that when you choose yourself first, everyone actually wins. selfishlyexpressed.substack.com

    “iT’s jUst a dAnCE cLAss” until…

    001. Your crippling anxiety doesn’t have you in a chokehold anymore 2025 brought me to my knees and if that wasn’t enough, it dragged me through the mud. Every bone in my body wanted to give up, to succumb to a hoa hoa timelapse (yes, that scene where Bella stares out the window while the seasons change). But there was ONE thing that kept my head above water: dance. For 3600 seconds, my thoughts belonged to the present. Nothing else mattered. 002. You start reclaiming that “yeah I can do anything” belief you had as a kid At some point, someone told me I “couldn’t.” “You’re too FAt to lOOk graceful.” “You’re too clumsy, you’ll fall.” “You’re too slow, you won’t pick up the choreo.” For a decade (or 2), I believed it. It bled into everything I touched. But through dance, I finally hear the voice that’s been gagged for years. Little Colleen whispering, “you can do it, I believe in you.” 003. You start thinking you’re sexy even when you haven’t hit your “best” weight For as long as I can remember eating (I KNOWWW), my body grossed me out. Even when I was my thinnest. My body never felt like it belonged to me. I felt like an Airbnb guest desperate to leave but couldn’t. But for the first time this year, I looked at the mirror and thought “heyyyy, I look sexy.” Even though I’m farrrrr from my weight goal. So the next time your friend gushes about her dance class, LET HER. You don’t know what it saved her from. This is a public episode. Selfish Experiment 001: New Name? Hu Dis?

What if being selfish was actually the most generous thing you could do? After a human design reading revealed my "selfishness superpower," I realized I'd been apologizing for choosing myself my entire life. Plot twist: I'm done apologizing. In this episode, we cover: * The human design reading that flipped my entire relationship with the word "selfish" * Why my sisters borrowing my clothes felt like they were literally wearing my skin * How my "Plug and Slay" offer worked because I said f*ck the industry norms * The selfish decision to turn down easy copywriting money (and why it felt revolutionary) * What I'm experimenting with: better friendships, business offers, and daily choices * Your first assignment: the one question that will change how you make every decision * Why choosing yourself isn't selfish—it's actually the most selfless thing you can do This isn't about becoming a narcissist or burning bridges. It's about testing the radical idea that when you get selfish, everyone wins. Consider this your permission slip to choose yourself first. Welcome to The Selfish Experiment….let's find out what happens when we trust ourselves more than everyone else's opinions. And if you try your own selfish experiment this week, slide into my DMs @seflsihyexpressed - I'm dying to hear what happens! This is a public episode. 3 Signs Your Messaging Has "Convincing Energy" That's Repelling High-Value Clients (And How to Fix It)

If you're a successful coach or consultant who's noticed that your messaging feels forced, your sales conversations feel harder, and you're attracting clients who need way too much hand-holding, this episode reveals what's really going on. In this episode, I break down the three telltale signs you're operating from "convincing energy" - that subtle desperation that creeps into your messaging when you're trying to prove your worth instead of simply owning it. We explore why promising to "save" people actually attracts energy-draining clients, how buzzwords like "high-touch" reveal uncertainty about your value, and why constantly proclaiming how different you are backfires with discerning buyers. I share why convincing energy is actually a symptom of old conditioning that taught us we need to earn our place, and how high-value clients can sense this energy immediately. You'll discover the difference between strategic partnership and savior positioning, why quality clients don't need every detail of your process explained, and how to shift from proving your value to simply embodying it. This isn't about overhauling your entire approach - it's about recognizing where old patterns of convincing are sabotaging your ability to attract clients who are excited to work with you. Because when you stop trying to convince people of your worth and start trusting that the right people will simply know, everything changes. Your expertise deserves to be received by people who recognize its value immediately, and it's time to let go of the convincing energy that's keeping your best clients at arm's length.
