    Celebrating Christmas

    Luke 1:26-38; Luke 2:1-20; Matthew 2:1-12 Pastor Troy manages to bring a bring a message about worship out of 3 very famous Christmas passages. We find a reason from each passage the worship God for the birth of Jesus Christ. May we never forget what is the true reason for this season. The devil wants to take the Christ out of Christmas, and at the least he wants to take the worship of Christ out of this holiday. May we ever be reminded of what this time of year is all about, our Lord and Savior.  The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC.     What It Means to Have Eternal Life

    Matthew 19:16-22 Pastor Cory is back in the gospels with this message. In this passage, Jesus is speaking to the rich young ruler, who would not follow Jesus because of his 'great possessions.' This young man desires to know what he must do to receive eternal life, and Jesus ultimately gives him the answer he doesn't want to hear. The question for us is now, will we choose our riches in this life or in eternity? Jesus tells us what it truly means to have eternal life, and it means to follow Him.  The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.     Obedience is Worship

    1 Samuel 15:1-33 Pastor Troy is back in our series on worship with this message about Saul, Israel's first king. He may have been the king the people wanted, but that does not mean he was the king they needed. Saul had a knack of relying on his own wisdom and understanding. In the case of the account in today's passage, this would lead him to once again disobey the commands of the Lord. While Saul tries to minimize his sin, Samuel brings the Word of the Lord to reveal just what God thinks about the obedience of His servants.     Christ is Our Sabbath

    Matthew 12:1-8 Pastor Cory is back in the gospels with this message about the Sabbath. There remains a rest to come for the people of God. Yet, God has given us the Sabbath that we might find a certain rest upon this Earth. The pharisees saw the Sabbath as a restriction, but Christ shows us that it is for our blessing. He is Lord of the Sabbath, and wants us to understand that our rest ought to ultimately be found in Him, both in this life and the next.     Our Sin is Evidence of a Lack of Worship

    Psalm 36:1-12 Pastor Troy continues our series on worship with this message from the book of Psalms. It seems as though we have taken a very light view of sin in American Christianity, but this reveals a much deeper issue in our hearts. Our tolerance of sin reveals lack of true love and devotion for a holy God. We say that we love the Lord, yet we continually put things above Him in our hearts and lives. May this look at this psalm of David reveal to us the great disparity in our worship compared to how worthy God truly is.  The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.     The Promised Messiah

    Mark 2:1-12 Pastor Cory jokes that he needs a break from the book of Ephesians, so his messages will be out of the gospels for the next few weeks. This week we take a look at the account where Jesus heals the paralytic carried to him by four of his friends. This story shows us how Jesus perfectly fulfilled the promises of God in the Old Testament for the coming Messiah. He came to preach God's Word, to release the captives from the bondage of sin, and to bring healing to our bodies. We look expectantly for the day that Jesus comes to bring the ultimate deliverance and healing at His return. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.     Trusting the Lord Means Putting Feet to Our Faith

    Psalm 20:5-9; James 2:14-26 Pastor Troy is back after a couple weeks in our series on worship with this message that really functions as a second part, or an extension of his last message: Worship Means Trusting the Lord. Giving God the glory that He is worthy of, entails placing our faith completely in Him. However, we learn from James that faith without works is not true faith. We can say that we serve a big God, but if our actions say differently than do we really trust Him? If we are not willing to put feet to our faith, stepping out and giving God the chance to display His glory through our surrendered lives, then we do not actually trust Him, nor worship Him as He deserves.  The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.     The Wisdom in Christ

    Ephesians 5:15-21 Pastor Cory is back in our series on Ephesians with this message. Paul urges the church at Ephesus here to walk in wisdom and to make the best use of the time that we are given on this earth. It has been said, "Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God in bodily form." If we are to walk wisely, it will have to been through the surpassing knowledge of God in Christ Jesus. If we are to make the most of our time, we must look to our ultimate example of how to live in such a way that every moment is maximized for the glory of God, our blessed Lord Jesus.  The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
