Bri Giger: It’s Part of Your Journey

Send us a text If you're coming out later in life or questioning your queer identity, this episode will ground you. On this week’s BabyGay™ Podcast, host PJ Brescia (they/them) sits down with comedian, actor, writer, and DJ Bri Giger for a candid, funny, and affirming conversation about navigating the LGBTQ+ coming-out process at any age. Bri opens up about early queer awakenings, being labeled before she was ready, and finally embracing “queer” as her most authentic identity. She and PJ talk about chosen family, queer adulthood milestones, and why doing your first Prides solo can be a powerful act of self-acceptance. As Bri puts it: “If you came alone, know you’re the coolest person in the room.” Bri also shares her path from being typecast in Hollywood to creating her own work, becoming a sought-after queer DJ, and preparing to shoot her comedy special in February 2026 at The Elysian Theater in Los Angeles. She reflects on career-shaping moments — including opening for Cameron Esposito — and how each opportunity pushed her toward becoming the multi-hyphenate performer she is today.  “It’s part of your journey!” ;) Links: 🎧 Follow Bri: @brigiger 🌈 Watch & listen: The BabyGay™ Podcast on YouTube + Spotify @babygaytv BabyGay™ Podcast, released every Wednesday, is hosted by PJ Brescia (they/them) — a 2025 Out100 honoree — and celebrates queer stories, self-discovery, and the power of authenticity. Tracy E. Gilchrist: Holding Space & Making Queer Media History

Send us a text Learn how queer media shapes culture on this week’s BabyGay™ Podcast, where host PJ Brescia (they/them) sits down with Tracy E. Gilchrist (she/her) — the journalist and queer media icon behind 2024’s viral “holding space” Wicked interview with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Tracy opens up about her decades-long career covering the intersections of LGBTQ+ equality and pop culture...from becoming The Advocate’s first-ever feminism editor to serving as editor-in-chief during the early pandemic years. We talk queer history at The Black Cat, her celebrated cover stories (Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe, Kristen Stewart, Harvey Guillén, Cynthia Nixon), and how a sincere, unscripted moment in a four-minute junket became an instant queer-camp pop-culture icon. We also dive into burnout, perfectionism, and learning to be easier on yourself; early coming-out stories; her work elevating queer visibility in film and TV; and the emotional impact of being honored by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus. Plus: why queer storytelling matters more than ever in today’s political climate. Greg Cope White & Dale Kiker: The True Story Behind 'The Pink Marine' & BOOTS on Netflix

Send us a text Ever wish you had a BFF who loved you so unconditionally that you felt safe being exactly who you are?! This week on The BabyGay™ Podcast, PJ Brescia (they/them) sits down with Greg Cope White (he/him), author of The Pink Marine, and his lifelong best friend Dale Kiker (he/him) — the duo whose 51-year friendship inspired Netflix’s queer hit BOOTS. They’ve been inseparable since a school bus in 1974 New Orleans, surviving Marine Corps boot camp, Mardi Gras chaos, identity journeys, and adulthood side-by-side. One gay, one straight, both ride-or-die forever. PJ’s had the same straight BFF since they were 5… and the parallels are uncanny. This conversation is a love letter to friendship soulmates — the queer–straight bonds that shape us, save us, and hype us all the way into our full selves. Greg and Dale share what it was really like serving before “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the quiet fear of hiding who you are, and the loud joy of having a best friend who refuses to let you shrink. Dale is Greg’s eternal hype man, ally, and brother, and the way they talk about each other will restore your faith in humanity (and maybe make you text your best friend immediately). Margaret Cho: Leading the Choligarchy

Send us a text The world is cracking...and Margaret Cho will save us! On this week’s BabyGay™ Podcast, host PJ Brescia (they/them) records from the historic Black Cat in Silver Lake with comedy legend, activist, and fellow Out100 honoree Margaret Cho (she/her) - truly one of the funniest, fiercest, and most influential queer voices of our time! Margaret opens up about growing up in a gay bookstore in San Francisco, coming out as pansexual, and using comedy as both protest and healing. Together, they dive into the fight for trans rights, the importance of chosen family, and how queer communities can stay joyful, angry, and connected...even as the world feels like it’s cracking. Margaret also gives us the inside scoop on her new films — the heartfelt dramedy All That We Love (with Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and the glitter-splattered zombie comedy Queens of the Dead — both in theaters now. Plus, her brand-new stand-up tour The Choligarchy, a chaotic, cathartic must-see show proving that being “cracked” might just be the cure. LA City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez: Allyship & Building a More Inclusive Los Angeles

Send us a text Want to see what real allyship in action looks like? On this week’s BabyGay™ Podcast, host PJ Brescia (they/them) sits down with LA City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez (he/him) — a lifelong Angeleno, former labor organizer, and one of Los Angeles’ leading voices for equity and inclusion. Born and raised in LA to Mexican immigrant parents who worked as street vendors, Hugo learned early on the power of community and collective action. Before his election to City Council in 2022, he spent 16 years organizing with UNITE HERE!, fighting alongside hotel workers to win fair wages, healthcare, and respect on the job. Recorded LIVE before an audience at the historic Black Cat in Silver Lake, this special episode was part of BabyGay’s Third Annual National Coming Out Day Celebration — produced in partnership with The Black Cat and OutCare Health, and presented by Los Angeles City Council District 13 (CD13). PJ and Councilmember Soto-Martínez reflect on what it means for Los Angeles to officially recognize National Coming Out Day as a city holiday...and how allyship, solidarity, and love can fuel real systemic change. This episode is a reminder that love and solidarity aren’t just ideals — they’re actions that can transform a city, one community at a time.
