Katie Kimball Dyer: Little Drops of Happiness — Leading with Heart

Season 2, Episode 3 of Creativity Connects with Mikki Wilson. Mikki is joined by her friend Katie Kimball Dyer, a financial advisor and business owner who also hosts her own podcast, The Heart of Finance. Mikki sets the work aside to get to the stories, experiences, and quirks that shaped who Katie is. Katie talks about Auntie Norma, the childhood nanny her family "just kept"; a solo study abroad in London, where she promised herself she would not mask and found that people liked the unmasked Katie; and a Girl Scout sailing camp at 14 that turned into a job as a sailing instructor the week she got home.By 17 she was directing an adult sailing program and standing by her own weather calls, lessons in trusting her instincts that now make her quicker to trust younger people. Then Mikki's guest prop comes out, a rubber duck, and Katie explains Jeep ducking and the "little drops of happiness" she leaves for strangers, the blessing bags she keeps in her car, and why seeing the person matters more than anything in the bag. Ainsley Keating: A Woman Becoming — Empathy, Fresh Eyes & the Next Chapter

Season 2, Episode 2 of Creativity Connects with Mikki Wilson is a team edition. Mikki sits down in the Peabody TV studio with Ainsley Keating, Marketing Manager at Creative Collective, the organization that hosts this podcast. Most of Mikki's guests look back on a journey already lived; Ainsley is a recent graduate at the start of hers, and this episode is a chance "to see a woman becoming."Ainsley graduated from Endicott College in 2026, where she studied psychology and communications with a focus on consumer behavior, and she now creates content, supports Creative Collective members, and tells the stories of this community. Beyond the job title, she talks about the college roommate she never had to front with, growing up sensitive after a move from Baltimore at age seven, empathy as a blessing and a curse, and what she has learned since moving from intern to full-time staff: not being a people pleaser, standing up for yourself, and remembering that change is good. Mikki and Ainsley also talk about being the youngest person in a room full of experienced business owners and why a "fresh, new set of eyes" is exactly what a community needs, eight years of karate that led back to boxing, and what Ainsley hopes she never loses. The episode closes with a surprise prop from Ainsley's own purse: a heart-shaped cherry Jolly Rancher. Alyssa Conary: The Work of Holding Community

In this episode of Creativity Connects with Mikki Wilson, we sit down with Alyssa Conary, Membership Director at Creative Collective, for a grounded conversation about what it really means to hold community. Rather than focusing on growth for growth’s sake, Alyssa reflects on community-centered leadership as a practice rooted in care, consistency, and responsibility. Drawing from her work supporting women entrepreneurs and her involvement with Historic Salem, Inc., she shares how history, place, and stewardship shape the way she approaches leadership—both formally and behind the scenes. This conversation goes beyond surface-level ideas of connection and explores the quieter labor of maintaining trust, setting boundaries, and making decisions that honor both people and institutions over time. Alyssa offers a thoughtful perspective on sustainability, reminding us that not everything needs to scale—some things simply need to be held well. What community-centered leadership looks like in practice How history and place influence modern leadership decisions Holding institutions, not just moments or momentum The unseen labor of maintaining trust and sustainability Why care, boundaries, and pacing are strategic leadership tools “Community isn’t just about bringing people together. It’s about what you’re willing to hold when people show up as their full selves.” “A lot of the work I do is invisible. It’s listening, following up, remembering details, and creating a sense of safety people don’t always realize they need.” “You can’t build trust through systems alone. Trust comes from consistency, presence, and doing what you say you’re going to do.” “Holding community doesn’t mean carrying it all yourself. It works best when responsibility is shared.” “People think community is events, but it’s really about relationships — and relationships take care.” Alyssa Conary is the Membership Director for Creative Collective, where she supports and nurtures a community of entrepreneurs and creatives across the North Shore. Alyssa is known for her human-centered approach to community care, helping members feel welcomed, supported, and connected while strengthening the relationships that make the creative economy thrive.
