#56 This Award Was Never Really Just About Me

This episode is a little different. Recently, I attended Ashley Brock's Launch Your Ads Live event, where I was honored to receive the Rainmaker Award, an award recognizing the impact and growth created through effective marketing. What made the moment even more meaningful was that I was the only veterinarian recognized. As grateful as I am for the award, what stayed with me wasn't walking across the stage. It was realizing what that award actually represents. It represents the pets whose lives have changed because their families found me. The dog whose chronic itching finally made sense. The senior dog who became excited about meals again. The family who thought they'd run out of options until they discovered there was another way to approach their pet's health. Marketing often gets a bad reputation, but when it's done with integrity, it isn't about selling. It's about helping the right people find the help they've been searching for. In this episode, I share why receiving this award was so meaningful, what I've learned about serving pet parents beyond the exam room, and why every consultation, recipe, home visit, email, and conversation reminds me that this work is so much bigger than veterinary medicine. If this episode resonates with you, I'd love for you to subscribe, leave a review, and share it with another pet parent who believes there is always value in asking one more question. #55 What I'd Do for My Own Dog at Every Age

If someone asked me, "What would you do if this was your own dog?" this episode has some of my answers. As a veterinarian, I spend every day helping families make decisions about their pets' health. While every pet is unique, there are a handful of principles that guide almost every recommendation I make. These aren't about chasing trends or finding a magic supplement. In fact it's the opposite. They're about building a strong foundation that supports a healthier, happier life. In this episode, I walk through each stage of a pet's life...from puppy/kittenhood to the senior years. And share what I would prioritize if I were raising my own dog. We discuss how nutrition, movement, preventive care, mental enrichment, and functional testing evolve throughout a pet's lifetime, and why investing in health before problems arise can make all the difference. In this episode, you'll learn:• What I'd prioritize during puppy or kittenhood to build lifelong resilience • Why prevention should start long before your pet shows signs of illness • Why maintaining a healthy body condition is one of the most impactful things you can do • How functional testing (including gut microbiome testing, vitamin D testing, hair tissue mineral analysis, and environmental toxin testing) can help personalize your pet's care when appropriate • Why healthy aging is about supporting quality of life, not simply adding years One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is that prevention isn't about expecting something to go wrong, it's about creating the best opportunity for things to go right. It's not waiting for a disease to control the conversation. Every pet deserves care that's thoughtful, personalized, and proactive.
