Sad and Lonely Is NOT a Defense *BONUS*

Content note: This episode discusses the sexual assault of a minor — plainly, but with no graphic detail. The survivor is not named here, and she is not named in the reporting. Please keep it that way. Krew Zaugg, 22, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was arrested on May 29, 2025 and charged with rape of a victim under 16 and lewd conduct with a child under 16 — a 15-year-old girl. The charges carried a possible life sentence. He was released the same day on bond, and the court records were sealed. In September 2025, under seal, the rape charge was amended down to battery with intent to commit a serious felony. Zaugg pleaded guilty to that amended charge. There was no trial. On Monday, October 26, prosecutors asked for up to 20 years. Judge Michael Whyte instead gave him a "rider" — up to one year of treatment and counseling in a correctional facility, after which the judge himself will decide between probation and an underlying sentence of 4 to 14 years. He must register as a sex offender and stay away from her for 14 years. She waits up to a year to learn what happens next. Her mother told the court: "It was brutal, it was violent and highly forceful." Her sister: "This is not a young man who made a mistake." Zaugg's own explanation: "I was feeling sad, lonely and miserable." Sad and lonely is not a defense. The waiting is the weapon — again. Unprotected: The Waiting Is The Weapon part 3

Content note: This episode discusses violence against women, children, and marginalized people — plainly, but with no graphic detail. If today is not the day your heart can hold it, skip it and come back when it is. It'll be here. Part 3 of UNPROTECTED asks the hardest version of the series' question: who gets believed last? It begins with an anonymous tip in the Epstein files — two unnamed foreign girls, allegedly buried at a ranch in New Mexico. That claim is uncorroborated, and this episode says so out loud, because the women with the fewest resources, the least documentation, and no one looking for them are the ones whose stories live and die as rumors. No camera. No rally. No headline. Believed last, if they're believed at all. From Youngstown to that anonymous tip, the pattern holds: protection flows toward power, and waiting flows toward everyone else. This finale is about the ones the system leaves waiting — and about what it would mean if women stood together, unanimously, and demanded accountability anyway. Domestic violence awareness doesn't end on October 31st. Thank you for walking all three parts of this with me. Unprotected: The Waiting Is The Weapon - pt 2

Content note: This episode discusses the sexual abuse and trafficking of children — plainly, but with no graphic detail. If today is not the day your heart can hold it, skip it and come back when it is. It'll be here. Part 2 of UNPROTECTED is about the children — and about a property nobody searched. Jeffrey Epstein's victims were recruited the way conditioning always works: a girl who needed money, a promise that sounded like opportunity, and adults who called it something else. In 2008, the system that was supposed to protect those girls cut a deal instead — a plea agreement negotiated without telling the victims, shielding unnamed co-conspirators — and a convicted sex offender walked out registered in Florida and New York, but not, functionally, in New Mexico. So a ranch in New Mexico sat behind a buffer of leased land for years while survivors' accounts, flight logs, and tips accumulated around it. When New Mexico opened its own investigation in 2019, federal prosecutors asked the state to stand down and hand over its file. The state complied. The ranch was not searched — not then, not while Epstein was alive, not for years after. The first search finally came in March 2026, long after the property had been sold, and as of March 24, 2026, no human remains had been found. Not searching is a decision. This episode walks the documented record — what survivors reported, what officials did, and what simply waited — with every claim labeled for what it is: established, documented, reported, or unproven. Part 3 — who gets believed last — arrives Sunday, November 1. Unprotected: A Survivor Is NOT a Campaign Strategy *EMERGENCY EPISODE*

Content note: This episode discusses childhood sexual abuse and family betrayal — plainly, but with no graphic detail. Take whatever space you need. I'm in the middle of my series UNPROTECTED — and this could not wait for Sunday. In Ohio, a gubernatorial campaign has released an advertisement featuring Amy Acton's estranged mother, calling her daughter a liar about her childhood. Acton has spoken publicly for years about surviving childhood sexual abuse. Her brother has supported her account. And the public record — Mahoning County court records reported by the Associated Press and checked by PolitiFact — says: her stepfather was arrested in 1978, indicted by a grand jury on a felony rape charge, and fled the state with her mother before trial, a fugitive until his death in 2004, never tried. The children were removed from their mother's custody. She hasn't seen her mother since she was twelve. Ohio's own governor — of the opposing party, and her opponent's endorser — has called the ad "just wrong" and asked for it to be taken down. The campaign has refused, with $4 million behind airing it. What does a survivor hear when they see this? What does a frightened child hear? This emergency episode: why a survivor's story is not a campaign resource, why a parent's willingness to call their child a liar does not make that parent a reliable witness, and why awareness has to mean something when protecting someone costs us something. Unprotected: The Waiting Is The Weapon - part 1

Content note: This episode discusses domestic violence and violence against women — plainly, but with no graphic detail. If today is not the day your heart can hold it, skip it and come back when it is. It'll be here. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This is Part 1 of UNPROTECTED, a three-part Voice Unchained series on the people this world keeps failing to protect: women, children, and the ones it barely sees at all. On October 12, 2026, at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, a 29-year-old artist named Blake stood up in a homemade T-shirt that read "Release the Epstein files" and shouted one word, twice. On video — reported by the Associated Press and Fox News — a man in the crowd struck her in the face while others grabbed, shoved, and pulled her hair. When law enforcement moved in, they removed her. Fox News reported the man seen punching her stayed inside. As of this recording, no arrests have been reported. Blake had a stadium full of witnesses and a video that will live forever — and the machinery still moved the way it moves in a living room at 2 a.m.: remove the woman, preserve the room. This episode asks why, when a woman is harmed, she is so often the one treated as the problem — and looks at the conditioning, intentional and unintentional, that keeps the pattern in place. Blake's injuries and experience are described in her own account, given to the Daily Beast. Verified facts and her account are kept separate in the episode, on purpose. Part 2 — the children — arrives Sunday, October 25. Part 3 — who gets believed last — arrives Sunday, November 1.
