Adventures on Ahway Island

I love this podcast! It’s so awesome! I also love they’re other podcast: Be Calm On Away Island. This podcast is even better. I listen to it every day, then Be Calm On Away Island at night. My only complaint is that they don’t make them fast enough!❤️

I want to give this more stars but the amount of times they hide or lie to their parents is not great. My child likes the adventure but is 6 and needs a better influence than this. Do better please.

I wrote a very thoughtful review and somehow lost it near the end of my typing, so here is the gist: I liked this show for my children until episode 5, which basically sounds like propaganda for smartphones and how to get your parents to get you one AT AGE TEN. Really!? I imagine I’m not totally alone, among people playing podcasts for their children, in the idea that kids should be allowed to have a childhood free from phones as long as possible. There I am playing a screen-free audio story for my kids when we heard… “And just like JJ and Christian had gotten from their parents before her, Marie's parents gave her a special gift for her 10th birthday, her first smartphone. She had gotten a smart watch last year, so her parents could message her. Now with the phone, she was allowed to message her friends as well. Marie had worked hard to convince her parents that ten was old enough to have the privilege of a smartphone. She presented a compelling and thoughtful case. Being able to text was the most efficient way to keep in contact with her parents and friends. And she could make a call in an emergency, or use the map if she ever got lost. Truth be told, what thrilled her most was how it might help her with her investigation.” Beyond that, the merits of the phone are extolled again in the episode! We love Be Calm on Ahway Island. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t have my trust any longer. Even my oldest (a phone-using teen who longs for a world without social media) was shocked by what she heard. I just don’t understand how that was a necessary part of the story. Very disappointing.
