    E21 - 10 Years Self-Employed: 5 Hard Truths on Coaching & Business

This year marks 10 years of me being self-employed.  I would’ve never thought that the side hustle, which I started out of joy for training & movement, will turn into me helping athletes get from pain to performance and ultimately educating other physios & coaches on doing the same.  I believe self-employment is the best teacher you can have. Have a listen, however I think you will only truly understand & learn these things once you went through this yourself.  SO KEEN ON THE NEXT 10 YEARS!!!! E19 - We have a Stress Fracture Epidemic going on!

We have a stress fracture epidemic going on! How can it be, that not only professional athletes but also ambitious people get so many stress fractures? I talk about:  Why we see so many bone stress injuries (BSI) currently How you can significantly decrease the risk of a BSI How to immediate act if you suspect a BSI How a proper return to run/ play protocol should look like do decrease the risk of re-injury This is not only physiological. Bone stress injuries have a huge psychological factor - many people suffering this type of injury have a problematic relationship with training, nutrition & load management.  If you are currently injured and your doctor said your return to run is „start with 5x1min on/off running and work your way up“ (spoiler: DO NOT DO THAT) then this is for you.  If you are a coach, I encourage you to listen to this, send this to your athletes and raise awareness about this topic!  Mentioned Studies:  Relationship between Carb Intake & Bone Remodeling https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9804216/ Bone Density in Athletes of Different Disciplines:  https://www.researchgate.net/publication/228498850_Bone_Mineral_Density_in_Athletes_of_Different_Disciplines_a_Cross-_Sectional_Study The new 10% Rule for running volumehttps://bjsm.bmj.com/content/59/17/1203 -------- If you have any questions or topics you want me to talk about, feel free to shoot me a message. E18 - Training, Business & Breaking Taboos: Staying Active Through Pregnancy w/ Miri Krug

Can you lift heavy weights, push your heart rate, or even hit PBs while pregnant? Common misconceptions often say "no," but the reality of exercise physiology tells a different story. In this episode, I’m joined by Miri, who is challenging the status quo of how we view activity during pregnancy. We dive into the fears many active people face - like the worry of "losing yourself" or having to stop training entirely - and look at the science and visibility Miri is creating through her own journey and participation in clinical studies. We also tackle an often overlooked topic: Being a pregnant entrepreneur. What does it mean to run a business and manage employees without the state-funded safety nets available to employees in Germany? How do you mentally and financially prepare for labor when there is no "maternity pay"? How do you plan for a life event that is inherently unplannable? The most incredible part? Just three hours after we finished this recording, Miri went into labor and welcomed her wonderful daughter, Mila, into the world. This episode is a snapshot of strength, dedication, and the final moments of a transformative journey. This episode is dedicated to Mila. May she grow up to be as fearless, strong, and bold as her mother. 3 Follow Miri on IG: https://www.instagram.com/miri.krug/ Mentioned Study: Davenport (2024).
