Why Would God Choose Me? Learning to Walk Humbly in God’s Calling

Have you ever looked at the calling God has placed on your life and quietly wondered, “Lord…why me?” In this episode of Makin’ Macon: Encouragement in Chaos, we’re continuing our conversation about the life of David and discovering that God doesn’t call us because we have it all together. Long before David became king, God was shaping his heart—and when the calling finally came, it wasn’t because David was the strongest or the most qualified. It was because God saw something deeper. I’ll also share a personal story about learning to play the piano before my husband and I moved to our first home missions church, and how the Lord was preparing me for a season I never saw coming. Looking back, I realize God wasn’t simply teaching me a new skill—He was teaching me to depend on Him. If you’ve ever felt inadequate, unqualified, or wondered if you’re enough for what God has asked you to do, I hope this episode reminds you of one simple truth: God doesn’t call us because we are enough. He calls us because He never intended for us to do it without Him. The Shepherd in the Field: Learning to Seek God’s Heart

Before David was ever a king, he was a shepherd faithfully serving in a quiet field where very few people ever noticed him. Yet while others overlooked him, God was shaping a heart that would one day lead a nation. In this episode of Makin’ Macon: Encouragement in Chaos, we’re talking about the hidden seasons of life and the quiet places where God often does His deepest work. If you’ve ever felt overlooked, wondered if your ordinary faithfulness matters, or quietly asked, “Lord, do You really see me?”—this conversation is for you. Join me as we look at the story of David, the importance of seeking God’s heart, and the reminder that God isn’t just preparing us for what He has called us to do—He’s preparing our hearts for who He has called us to be. Protecting Your Time with God: Choosing What Matters Most

Have you ever found yourself praying while driving to work, worshipping while making dinner, or whispering a tired prayer before you fall asleep—only to wonder if it was enough? In this episode of Makin’ Macon: Encouragement in Chaos, I’m sharing what God taught me during some of the busiest seasons of my life. There were years when balancing work, motherhood, ministry, and everyday responsibilities left me longing for more time with Him. I kept waiting for life to slow down, only to discover that if I wanted time with God, I would have to intentionally protect it. Together, we’ll look at Psalm 42:1-2, where David writes, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” We’ll also reflect on the example Jesus gave us in Mark 1:35 and Luke 5:16, reminding us that time with the Father isn’t one more thing on our to-do list—it’s the very thing that gives us strength for everything else. If you’ve ever felt guilty because your quiet time doesn’t look the way you think it should, I hope this conversation encourages you. God sees the little moments, but He also invites us to protect the relationship that sustains us through every season. When Life Gets Loud Again: Keeping God First in Busy Seasons

Have you ever felt guilty because your quiet time didn’t look the way you thought it should? In this episode of Makin’ Macon: Encouragement in Chaos, I’m talking about one of the biggest struggles many Christian women face but rarely say out loud—how do we keep God first when life gets busy? Whether you’re balancing motherhood, work, ministry, homeschooling, or simply the everyday responsibilities that seem to fill every hour, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling short. I’ve been there too. In this episode, I’m sharing some of my own journey through those busy years and the lessons God taught me about making room for Him in the middle of the chaos. Together, we’ll look at Matthew 6:33 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and discover that a life of prayer isn’t always found in perfect, uninterrupted moments. Sometimes it looks like worshipping while making dinner, praying on the drive to work, or simply whispering, “Jesus, help me,” in the middle of an ordinary day. If you’ve ever wondered whether God sees your efforts in this season, I hope this episode reminds you that He does—and that He is faithful to meet you right where you are. When the Waiting Gets Heavy: Staying at the Feet of Jesus

Have you ever found yourself growing weary while waiting on God? Maybe you’ve prayed. Maybe you’ve trusted. Maybe you’ve done everything you know to do, yet the answer still hasn’t come. The waiting feels heavy, and you’re wondering how to keep moving forward when you can’t see what God is doing. In today’s episode, I’m sharing what God has taught me about staying at the feet of Jesus during seasons of waiting. We’ll talk about why prayer matters, how Proverbs 3:5-6 has anchored my faith through difficult seasons, and why looking back at God’s faithfulness can help strengthen our faith for whatever we’re facing today. If you’ve ever struggled with unanswered prayers, delayed promises, or trusting God’s timing, I pray this episode encourages you to keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and keep believing that He is working—even when you can’t see it. When Faith Reaches a Crossroads: Choosing to Trust God While You Wait

Have you ever found yourself wondering if God is still working while you’re waiting? In today’s episode, I’m sharing what I’ve learned about faith, waiting, and trusting God through seasons that didn’t make sense. Over the years, I’ve discovered that every believer eventually reaches a crossroads—a place where faith stops being something we talk about and becomes something we choose. It’s the moment when we must decide whether we’ll continue trusting God even when we don’t understand what He’s doing, or allow disappointment and doubt to pull us away from His promises. Together, we’ll look at Psalm 27:13-14 and Hebrews 11:1 as we talk about what it means to trust God when the answer hasn’t arrived yet and why some of the greatest growth in our faith often happens while we’re waiting. If you’ve ever felt weary while waiting on an answer to prayer, I hope this episode encourages you to keep trusting, keep believing, and keep looking to Jesus. This week is a special one. Not only is the Makin’ Macon podcast celebrating its first birthday, but Makin’ Macon itself is turning three years old. What Your Life Is Producing: When Fruit Reveals the Heart

What does your life produce when pressure shows up? In this episode of Makin’ Macon: Encouragement in Chaos, we continue the conversation about the Fruit of the Spirit by exploring how our words, attitudes, and reactions often reveal what is growing beneath the surface. Using a funny story about my son’s strong opinions on grapes, I shares how fruit reveals what it truly is—and how our spiritual fruit often reveals the condition of our hearts. In this episode, we’ll talk about: 🍇 Why fruit reveals the root 🍇 What comes out when life squeezes us 🍇 The difference between conviction and condemnation 🍇 Why the Fruit of the Spirit is one fruit with many characteristics 🍇 How staying connected to Christ produces lasting fruit Scriptures referenced: 📖 Matthew 7:16 📖 Psalm 139:23-24 📖 Galatians 5:22-23 📖 John 15 Whether you’re seeing evidence of growth or discovering areas where God is still working, this episode is a reminder that spiritual fruit doesn’t come from trying harder—it comes from staying connected to the Vine. 🖥️ Read more encouragement on the blog: 👉 https://makinmacon.com 📬 Get weekly encouragement delivered to your inbox:  👉  Sign Up Here 🎙️ New episodes every other week 📲 Connect with me: • Instagram: @makin_macon • Facebook: Makin’ Macon • Pinterest: @makinmacon • TikTok: @makin.macon 🔗 All links: https://linktr.ee/MakinMacon ✨ And remember… I’m always praying for you — even if I don’t know who you are.
